Overall, just a really pleasant experience with a really great shop that's filled with nice folks who do great work. I was doing my own front brakes, in the driveway. Even under the semi shade of a tree! I had finished one side, and was tearing down the other, when a bolt head sheared. Bummer. I don't have the required tools to deal with this. So I called around to get some estimates. Two shops referred me to the dealer. For a job I could do in my driveway, if only I had an extraction set. The other wanted over three hundred dollars. Since I can do one side, tear down and rebuild, in only slightly over an hour, and extracting a bolt isn't THAT hard. It was on a removable bracket, so getting at it would be easy. I figured I'd pay around an hour and a half, maybe two hours, tops. But three? That's ridiculous. Then I looked around on the good ol google, and found Joe at Aaliyah's Auto repair. Joe was super chill over the phone, and said "Oh yeah, that's easy." And when I asked when, it could get it in and out the same day! About an hour of work. So, of course, I said yes, I'll be there. The shop is small, but reasonably clean. The gent I met when I got there (Sorry, I forget his name) was expecting me, and was very courteous. I walked around the neighborhood for almost an hour exactly before Joe called that all was well. We talked about various stuff for a little while, Joe was just a really great guy. I like to do as much of my own work as possible, for a lot of reasons. The next time something goes wrong, or there's a job I just can't (or don't want to) handle, I'm calling Joe at Aaliyah's Auto repair. And no one else. Ever.

Trustworthy! A friend referred us here, and I'm so glad we followed his advice. We've been taken advantage of by three other shops in the area, and were either overcharged or outright lied to about repairs. Now that we've found a reliable mechanic that does the job for an appropriate price, we're set. I'd highly recommend them for anyone in the greater Monterey area.

Jesse made an exception to get my car in on such short notice. He was honest, quick, and the price was $200 lower than anybody I called before coming here. Definitely would come back for any other mechanical issues. 10/10.

Extremely satisfied customer! Jesse did an awesome job diagnosing and replacing the timing belt on my Mazda 626! Aaliyah's is open extended hours and my car was repaired in no time at all. This shop is a hidden gem worth finding.

my experience with jesse and jim were absolutely incredible. when i called and told jesse what was going on with my car, he listened to me and didn’t make me feel like i didn’t know what i was talking about, like other shops had done. making the appointment was smooth. jim fixed my car and there was communication on what was going on with my car throughout the day. both of them were so nice and patient with me and my mother. i will be coming back to this shop for all of my car needs and maintenance in the future! jesse & jim, thank you so much! you’re the best! ◡̈

I needed a belt and two tire pressure sensors replaced, which Joe took care of at a good price. Unfortunately there was a technical issue with their machine that communicates with the sensors, so I had to come back twice after the initial fix. The back and forth is annoying, of course, but it wasn't their fault and they provided nothing but the most professional service and even drove me home the last time while they worked on my car and then drove it home to me. Such great service!! I will be coming here again.

In the past 8 years I have been at this shop numerous times for tune up, check engine lights and other issues. Every time Jesse does an excellent job and goes out of his way to get it done quickly. On top of that the prices have been very competitive. He even diagnosed and fixed problems that the dealer couldn't. Jesse is a man of his word and I fully trust him with my cars.

This place is absolutely a winner! My truck starter went out when I was visiting a project in Moss Landing. Called Aaliyah’s around noon and asked if I could get my truck towed there. The owner said yes and let me know he would do everything he could to get my truck repaired the same day but no promises. Long story short, my truck was towed and repaired by 5pm that day. I was able to get back to Sacramento by 8pm all because of this shop and the grace of God. Thanks so much to Aaliyah’s for making the extra effort. Not to mention, the cost to repair was appreciated! God bless you all!

I have been holding off on posting this review although I have thought about it often. I just don't like to burn small businesses. UNLESS THEY DESERVE IT. I was treated poorly, misdiagnosed, spent a small fortune on having to rent cars for work, walk and take the bus for over a month and other misfortunes all because of Jesse's and this shop's ignorance and disregard for customer service. I finally had to take matters into my own hands and purchase the Part for the transmission that they "could not find" or "was on backorder" for a month! No calls back for my multiple calls to the business for updates. Jim told me several time that conveniently Jesse had an emergency and had to leave or left town for some reason when I called. So after I got them the part needed and got proof of delivery I called them and Jesse said the part wasn't there and wasn't delivered. I did some more research and got a confirmation # from USPS that it was left in their parcel locker. I told him and he didn't call me back (of course) but when I called again he said he got it. DUH check your mailbox! I have let all of this go because that is the kind of person I am. But I have had issues since picking up my car from them which BTW sat on the public street corner for almost a month, was covered in black dust and never started for maintenance purposes. I know I drove by many times, but now I am having more problems because of this issue and have spoken to a few mechanics about this mess who set me straight and shake their heads in disbelief about the incompetence of this auto shop. DO NOT GO THERE. When I get some more energy to continue I will post complete details. I have all records of my outgoing and incoming phone calls, visits to try to get something resolved, etc.

Had a blowout at 2:30PM on the Saturday before a Monday drive across the country. Other places were preparing to close until Monday, but I limped into the shop on a donut and Jesse worked us in. I had two new tires by 5:00PM for a great price. Highly recommended.

Honest and hardworking! This is hands down the best shop I've ever been to. The owner and his techs are professionals and their work is thorough. They fixed a brake job from another shop, and doing that potentially saved my life before going on a cross country drive. His team is trustworthy and dependable, and Cody and Tim are great at what they do. They went out of their way to help because my car wasn't safe! That is how much they care about people...They make their money by earning it, and they don't waste your time or dollars. Even though the shop is very busy, it is worth making an appointment here rather than going anywhere else. They're the only place I would trust with a vehicle my family may ride in.

First ever time I posted a review. I am a first generation student for context and after solely paying off my car, biggest fear was unforeseen mechanic visits. But I had the best experience, they worked with my budget. I received a student discount and I did schoolwork on the couch which is in their lobby with free wifi. They took in my car right away, perhaps they weren’t busy that day but nonetheless I felt really lucky. My car is in such good working condition, so thank you!

I had a great experience with Aaliyah's Auto Repair. I used to take my car to the dealership all the time because I was nervous about having to find someone else, however with the prices at the dealership I realized I need to find someone local who is reliable and trustworthy. I was recommended Aaliyah's Auto Repair by a friend, and I am very happy that I went with them. Jesse is awesome, he is welcoming, friendly, helpful, and very trustworthy. The rates were some of the best that I have seen in the area and Jesse makes sure to take care of his customers. I went in with a couple different car problems (everything just seemed to break at the same time) and Jesse was able to fix my driver's side window without having to replace it and cost me a lot extra. He was very communicative and allowed me to drop my car off later in the day which was very convenient with my work schedule. I highly recommend Aaliyah's Auto Repair to anyone! It's a little off the beaten path in Marina but it's a great business and I will definitely be taking my car there regularly.

My wife’s 2008 Audi A4 did not pass smog due to a cylinder misfire, so we called several shops around the Monterey Bay. Aaliyah’s Auto Repair seemed the most responsive and caring, so we decided to go with them. Jesse got us a same day appointment to his shop. Jesse and his team got the Audi repaired the next day and also passed smog!! I cannot thank Jesse and his team enough! Overall, fantastic experience! Great communication and extremely knowledgeable.

Great guys, Jesse and team are very communicative and checked over our Camry very thoroughly. They explained everything they had done afterwards, and felt very transparent about everything going on. A few years back, I also had a flat tire before we lived here ... luckily I caught them before they closed and they took care of it in like 30 minutes. I will say, as my only caveat... call ahead of time instead of just coming in. Sometimes everyone seems to be out testing a car, or grabbing lunch. I did have to wait about 15 minutes before seeing anyone =P

My family of five was just on a quick vacation in the area, when our family vehicle died. We spent most of the morning trying to find a shop that could fit us in. Aaliyah's was maybe our fourth phone call, we explained the situation, and he told us he could fit us in in about an hour. When we got there, the shop was busy, but staff was very empathetic to our needs, and even offered to give our family a ride to a nearby food place as we hadn't fed the kids yet with all the commotion. They kept us updated with diagnostics, unfortunately our car engine had seen the extent of it's life. They were very compassionate with our situation, and offered amazing assistance to help us get the vehicle towed 140 miles back home, and give us a ride to a rental facility so we could safely get ourselves home. While we were incredibly stressed, and my kids sorely disappointed they didn't get their day at the beach, this shop made things turn out as good as possible. Do not hesitate to contact this shop for any of your needs!

I met with the seller of my vehicle at Aaliyah’s Auto Shop for a pre-inspection. During the inspection, the owner, Jesse, informed me that my vehicle had a “very small” water pump leak and that the coolant level was low. He stated that he topped off the coolant with fluid and showed my husband a picture; however, the picture he showed was only of the coolant, not of an actual water pump leak. At no point was I shown a picture or physical evidence of a leak itself. Due to the stress of the transaction and being surprised by this diagnosis—especially since I regularly maintain my vehicle every three months—I did not ask to personally see the alleged leak at that time. Jesse also stated that the vehicle needed new brake pads because they were due for replacement. A few days later, I contacted Jesse to request a photo of the water pump leak. He then informed me that he did not have any photo of a leak—only a photo of the coolant. He went on to say that the car was otherwise “perfect,” drove great, and that the only issues were the need for new breaks and a new water pump. Because of these inconsistent statements, I took it upon myself to have the vehicle inspected at a Honda dealership while also completing an oil change. The certified Honda mechanics did not find any water pump or coolant leaks (please see attached video). Additionally, they confirmed that the brakes were at approximately 50% life remaining and did not require immediate replacement. Based on these findings, I am deeply concerned about the accuracy and integrity of the inspection performed at Aaliyah’s Auto Shop. It appeared that unnecessary repairs were recommended without sufficient evidence. Jesse also emphasized that his shop was the cheapest in town and that he offers the best prices, which further raised concerns that the diagnosis may have been influenced by sales motives rather than factual mechanical issues. I believe this experience demonstrates a lack of transparency and reliability. I strongly encourage anyone seeking a pre-purchase inspection to consider using a trustworthy and reputable mechanic or dealership service center to avoid receiving misleading or inaccurate information.
