Well worth the drive to view their beautiful collection of ceramics. They lack for space, but don't lack for their utilization of it. Every wall has something to be admired or criticized. Stopped in when their PST exhibit on Kukuli Velarde was up, and had a chance to see their "We The People" and "Mettlach" exhibitions.
Would love to visit again and see in particular their Mesoamerican ceramics. It was complimented well by the Kukulia Velarde exhibition, and I hope in the future they continue to highlight Mesoamerican ceramics and their affects on the works of contemporary artists.Their Mettlach exhibition is unfortunately squeezed into a hallway on the lower floor, but shouldn't be missed. Their main display, on American ceramics and politically-relevant current events show that this institution is not afraid to delve into politically charged areas of analysis.
If you are into Millard Sheets, a beautiful mural extends across one whole wall. It is impossible to take a single picture of the whole piece. Definitely check this out if you are into California regional art.

Founded in 2003, this museum in nearby Pomona showcases the technology, creation, history, and art of ceramics through studio programs, outreaches, collections and exhibits.
Not only does it feature permanent displays, but the museum also has fascinating rotating exhibits. So, don’t forget to check out the dates. For families with younger kids, little ones might enjoy activities that teach them about art and clay.
You can also buy some ceramic items and learn how to create artworks.

Had no idea how much I'd enjoy it. Although the museum is rather small, I loved the exhibits so much that I definitely would love to return. I'd encourage anyone to check it out at least once. I fell in love with some of the pieces on display. The teapots were amazing!

I enjoyed the exhibition way more than I thought I would. The $14 entry fee was fair. I spent the better part of 1-1/2 hours and looked at everything.

My recent visit to the clay and pottery art museum was nothing short of inspiring. The tour guide was both knowledgeable and friendly, providing insights that deepened my appreciation for this intricate art form. Each piece on display was a testament to the creativity and skill of the artists, and I found myself captivated by the uniqueness of every creation.
What sets this museum apart is its clay studio, where visitors can channel their own creativity and try their hand at making their own piece of art. It's a fantastic opportunity to connect with art clay on a personal level and gain a deeper understanding of the craft.
Overall, my experience at the clay and pottery art museum was enriching and enjoyable. Whether you're a seasoned enthusiast or new to the world of clay art, this museum offers something for everyone. I left feeling inspired and eager to explore this fascinating art form further.

The American Museum of Ceramic Art (AMOCA) is a hidden gem in Pomona, California. Though it’s smaller than some other museums, the exhibits are thoughtfully curated, and the space is inviting. The museum showcases a great variety of ceramic art, both modern and historical, with rotating exhibitions that keep things fresh. We loved the intimate feel, allowing us to really engage with each piece without feeling overwhelmed.
One of the highlights was the Mettlach Collection, which features incredible examples of European ceramics. The craftsmanship and intricate details on display were stunning. The museum also had a great focus on local Southern California ceramic artists, giving a strong sense of the area’s artistic contributions. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, happy to answer questions and share insights.
Overall, AMOCA offers a fantastic experience for art lovers or anyone interested in ceramics. It’s a great way to spend a couple of hours learning and appreciating the artistry of ceramics in a laid-back and welcoming environment. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area!

Parking was super easy on weekends. There are lots of trees providing shade. The staff is friendly, the museum has lots of unique pottery sculptures with creative messages or expressions. There's a small gift shop selling unique items that are not sold in stores or available elsewhere. If you are looking for one of a kind unique gift ideas the gift shop is worth checking out. There are restrooms available on the upper floor. There's a massive mural with lots of details and expressions cultural artwork. This is our 1st time visiting, and wasn't't sure what to expect. But we really enjoyed the relaxing vibes exploring in the quiet and clean gallery to recharge our souls and minds.

I didn’t do enough research so I was surprised the permanent collection was so small and almost all steins. The people were very nice. I’ve never seen Chinese art like that before.

Purchased tickets from Groupon, I think the fee was half the usual price. Really enjoyed the Indigenous Americans exhibit and also, the extension collection of steins in the downstairs section.

Small but interesting museum. I was the only one there on a Friday afternoon. One of the main exhibits was under renovation when I visited; the one that was open was about Chinese communist ceramics in the time of Mao. The signs did a great job explaining the meaning and context of the works, which came out of such a tragic time in history. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable.
