Outstanding service. I’ve been using Berkeley Minicar for over 10 years. Honest ownership led by Andres. Andres went out of his way to help recently with substandard catalytic convertors that had been installed through my insurance company and failed twice . With his help and expertise I was able to recover the costs and replace with a reliable Honda part. Excellent and very knowledgeable mechanics - Brian is excellent. Berkeley Minicar charged a reasonable price for installation of new headlight assemblies to replace the fogged over original ones on a 2006 Pilot. This makes it look much newer and brightens the light beams. For years I’ve trusted them to do proper repairs and maintenance to keep this vehicle and another Honda running well.

Staff at Berkeley Minicar are very responsible and thorough. They will do a simple oil change, check all appropriate parts of the car, and advise you what needs to be repaired or replaced urgently or later. They are prompt. Added benefit, once can walk across the street for beverage and meal or awesome dessert at Café Chiave on Dwight & San Pablo Avenue while waiting for the car service to be completed. Prices more reasonable that at the dealer.

BERKELEY mini saved me the other day. I noticed a pool of transmission fluid under my car and I had to teach a final in a class in Palo Alto the following day. The technician who I talked to you on the phone gave me valuable information on whether to refill it or not, and then offered me a loaner car if I dropped off my car that afternoon. They fixed the car the following day and even did a differential oil change and rotated my tires for a very reasonable price.Thank you, Berkeley Mini, thank you you saved me!!!

I really wanted to trust this place, but my experience at Berkeley Minicar was honestly shocking. I brought my car in because it occasionally wouldn’t start. Not only did they fail to diagnose the actual issue, but the person relaying information to me clearly had no idea what he was talking about. He just read off a screen, paused forever before answering basic questions, and couldn’t explain anything beyond the price tag. The whole interaction felt off. They told me my brakes were “1mm and unsafe” (they’re actually 6mm and 7mm), and claimed I needed a VTC actuator replaced for $2,600. None of that was true. I took my car to another shop for a second opinion — they immediately found the real problem: a simple starter issue. They also confirmed my brakes still had about 75% life left. Whether Berkeley Minicar is wildly incompetent or actively trying to rip people off, neither option is good. I cannot say this clearly enough: avoid this shop.
