Updated June 2023: Chris and Leslie continue to helm a stellar team. They are fast, efficient and most important, honest. I got a major service and installed a catalytic converter shield (apparently the wait for new cat converters is over 6 months). All this was done within hours and within budget. Best Toyota service in the entire Bay Area. Give them a call and you’ll never see another mechanic again. Updated Review Dec 2022: Chris and team are the best. You usually do not associate honest and the concept of integrity with auto mechanics and servicing, but C&T is a class apart. We moved northwards, closer to the city, yet we still prefer to take our car down to San Mateo. They know Toyotas and often try to save you $$ by not recommending expensive add-on's, and if your servicing reveals some issues, they repair it at a reasonable price. Bottomline, just like your doctor, you need someone who is honest, gives it to you straight and has your best interests in mind. Chris and his team are the doctors for your car who you can trust! Old Review 2019: Honest, friendly, same-day service. If you own a Toyota, Chris and Leslie run the best repair and servicing shop on the Peninsula. They give you a fair estimate and charge reasonable rates for original OEM parts. After ever service, they patiently explain to you all aspects of your vehicles condition and test results. I have been a happy customer for over 4 years, after overpaying to dishonest service centers that charged me several times what C&T does. Also, having a Caltrain stop within 2 minutes means you can head over to work in SF, SJ or Peninsula, and be back to pick up your car by EOD.

Took my Prius in for regular maintenance and a quick check-up before a long road trip. Leslie on the phone was very accommodating around my work schedule. Dropped off my car right before closing and left it there overnight. Extremely kind, helpful, and down-to-earth folks who really know their Toyotas. Explained everything to me in great detail. I've used C&T for several years, at the recommendation from a local police officer. Always pleased with the thorough and detail explanation of the work done and other service needed. Here's the situation: in town from Oregon for 1 day to visit my very ill uncle and let my very ill mother see him before The End. He gifts me his Toyota Tacoma pickup before he dies and the plan is to drive it back to Oregon after our quick visit. Driving it around San Mateo, the CHECK ENGINE light comes on and I'm panicked about driving the 600 miles home with my mom who can't walk. C&T listened to my situation, took the truck that morning, diagnosed the issue, worked some magic to get the parts, did a complete safety inspection to make sure we would make it home, and had it ready by 3:30 in the afternoon. Like, WHUH!?!? it was an absolute miracle and I am SO appreciative of their care and service. The end of the story is that my mom had one last card game with her big brother and the Taco brought us home safely the next day. Thank you, Chris, Leslie and the whole crew!

I have been taking my Toyota Landcruiser and Lexus ES to C & T for more than 20 years. I continue to say that Chris is one of the most trustworthy, honest and reputable auto repair shop owner I know. Took the Landcruiser in because of a faulty brake light and a tired engine. I had taken it to the mountains and felt it was running sluggish. Chris reported it as driver error, which I have to admit is probably right. LOL. He suggested I put it in Power mode while in a lower oxygen environment. I will do as he suggests. The brake light assembly was cracked so Chris suggested changing it out because the problem may be moisture getting in to what should be a mosture free enclosure. The labor costs were very reasonable for the engine work and to replace the tail light assembly. We're keeping an eye on the brake light. If needed he'll replace the socket that holds the bulb. Excellent workmanship as well as reasonable prices and straight forward advice and service is the reason I keep bringing both my Toyota Landcruiser and Lexus sedan back to C&T Automotive.

Brought my old Lexus in to get it ready for my daughter's college graduation gift and they did a wonderful job in getting it back into top condition. Chris and staff are very welcoming, upfront/honest and knowledgeable. Even though I didn't make an appointment, they still allowed me to drop it off on the same day and worked on it for awhile. Communication was good and price was under what I had budgeted for. I'll definitely have my daughter bring it back for regular maintenance items and to keep it running smoothly for the next 10+ years.

I have a 2001 Tundra with 108,000 miles that I am restoring and I needed an expert with these trucks to give it the love it deserves. Chris really knows this truck. I’ve been going to C&T Toyota since Chris first opened his shop over 30 years ago. I’m now the second generation in my family to bring our vehicles to him. Chris is truly the most honest mechanic in the industry. He will always tell you exactly what needs to be repaired—and just as importantly, what doesn’t. His integrity is unmatched. On the rare occasions when I couldn’t get an appointment soon enough and had to go to the dealership for something quick, like an oil change, I was always met with a long list of “recommended repairs” that were unnecessary. The service advisors and even the mechanics there work on commission, and it shows. After the last time that happened, I told myself I would never do that again. My business is now exclusively with Chris at C&T Toyota. Integrity, honesty, and truly the best mechanics in the industry—this is what you’ll find here. First time here, won’t be the last. This is a quirky repair shop in the best of ways. They specialize in Japanese brands and have fair (lower) prices than other local shops. I was in need of a major job, a timing belt replacement, and was quoted $2200 from my usual go-to for service. A friend recommended C&T so I called and got a quote for $1000 less! Not only that, but my 2005 Lexus was one of their specialties - I was in. On appointment day, I had a little trouble finding the place, but after a couple of missed turns, came upon C&T. Their office has stacks of paperwork in every nook and cranny, and is run by two of the nicest people you’ll ever meet in the industry. They took my car and said it would be done by days end. I left and walked five minutes to the Hayward Park Caltrain shop, so convenient. When I got their “finished” call later, earlier than expected, I hopped back on Caltrain, arrived at C&T, and received a bill that was even a little LESS than they quoted. The timing belt replacement was done with the other necessary bits (water pump, pulleys, etc) and my car ran perfectly, still does. I no longer have to worry about the belt breaking, nor my budget breaking when I’m in need of auto repairs. C&T has me covered. They seem fair and trustworthy. Definitely worth a call.
