My friend and I stopped here after the boat and trailer we recently purchased had trailer problems. Jason was very helpful, and who worked hard to get us back on the road. The team fabricated a part we needed in their on-site machine shop, and took care of us all the way through. We were very happy with the service, knowledge, and capabilities of the team. We were lucky to pull into their shop.

I cannot say enough good things about Capitol Mechanics, their outstanding customer service and how they stand behind their sales and repairs. I highly recommend them based on how they honored their warranty on a 2001 Saab I bought for my son to take to college. They went above and beyond providing great customer service. The car was in great shape and they had completed a number of repairs to prep it for sale including new brakes and rotors, new turbo, new battery, fixed the exhaust, new fluids. It drove great. Unfortunately after two days the oil pressure light came on. I brought the car back in, no hassle, no questions and they gave us a loaner to use while they repaired the problem. They also replaced the main and rod bearings as a courtesy to extend the life of the engine - great customer service. The oil pressure tested normal. Unfortunately, the light came back on during the blistering heat. The only things left to check required the removal of the engine. Again they gave us a loaner to use. After inspecting the engine, they could not find any visible issue. They determined that the issue was with the block itself and REPLACED THE ENGINE UNDER WARRANTY AT NO COST TO ME. Unbelievable! They could not have been better or done more. All of this on a 12 year old car. The car runs great. Capitol Mechanics are outstanding people to do business with. They stand behind their word and were more than fair to me. I was very impressed and I would recommend them to anyone. Thank you for standing behind your sale. I appreciate it.

I have brought my older BMW to Capitol Mechanics several times over the past couple years, usually for issues and not for general maintenance. Each time Mike, the owner, has taken the time to talk about what they've found as the issue and what options there are for repair. The mechanics there do really good work too - Mike and his team know how to work on older cars and the complications they can sometimes have. I highly recommend at least checking this place out - I was referred here by a friend and it's the only place I'll go in the Capital Region. I live 20 min. away and it's worth it.

Great place! They just fixed my Mercedes in 1 day and I got to use a loaner car which was awesome! Another place I had taken my car in Green Island apparently could not even hear the very loud noises it was making because then Robert's Auto would have had to pay for it under the warranty. Very nice people as well. Will use them for all my repairs and maintenance!

HONEST, EXTREMELY KNOWLEDGEABLE, and GOOD PRICES. What more could you possibly ask for in a mechanic?! I recommend them wholeheartedly. Though I rely on reviews a great deal, I never take the time to write one myself...this time, I simply must. I bought Saab convertible with a stalling problem that no one could solve for months. After an extensive search I found Capitol Mechanics, 2 HOURS away from my home. The owner spent a lot of time with me on the phone and was so patient and knowledgeable , that I decided to tow the car to them. I could not have made a better decision!! Not only did they find and fix the problem, they took to the time to explain things to me and point out other things the car needed, without the pressure of doing them right away. In fact when I asked them to to fix other things, they insisted I spend time with the car and make sure everything was working as it should.

I bring vehicles from my body shop to Mike and his team at Capital Mechanics when they have engine issues. I used him because I was referred to him from a networking group our business belongs to. He is awesome at what he does and I am beyond happy with the work he has done for me. Last time I had a vehicle at Capital Mechanics It needed a new engine and we got the car back in less then a week. There was a check engine light on and so we sent it back to Mike. He looked it over and could not figure out why we were getting a timing code. We sent it to the dealership and after 4 days they figured out the motor was a different motor then the vehicle was supposed to have. I guess a slight variation in the model was causing an issue. We found out that the salvage yard that Mike bought the used engine from had labeled their part wrong and that is why we were having this problem. Mike paid for everything at the dealer and towed the car back to his shop. He forced the yard to take the engine back and give him the right one and after a couple days he had the car back to me. My customer who had to endure this process was super happy. Capital Mechanics went beyond what most other shops would have done and I feel great bringing my cars to Mike whenever I need anything. It says a lot about a business when they stand behind their work. Thank you Mike for being such a great guy and running a business that does the right thing for it's customers! I will be referring as many people as I can to Capital Mechanics!

Brought my 2009 Honda Accord here after 3 other mechanics could not diagnose the problem. An issue with the power steering system was diagnosed and repaired in a matter of hours. My car is back to perfect! They were very professional and thorough and listened to my concerns. Capitol mechanics were honest and very straight forward. Great price...and they gave me a loaner while my car was in the shop!!! Michael is a very knowledgeable engineer and I will never take my car anywhere else! Best mechanic in the state.

I have taken my car to Capitol Mechanics for years, since I read that they were recommended by AAA and the Better Business Bureau, and they are the best auto repair for miles around. I trust them completely and when they have to keep my car overnight for repairs, they do provide a loaner car free of charge, until the car is repaired. Capitol Mechanics is the best and they can be relied on to provide grade A+ service. They are outstanding in auto repair and the owners are very nice people.

Very good people. I ran into an issue with my car and didn't have to tool to take the part off. I called around and nobody would help me because I had my own part. I called capitol mechanics and told them my issue and they had my car in and out the shop within 2 hrs. The also found another problem that i didnt know about and showed me unlike other shops they wouldnt show you just tell you. I don't like car shops but this place is not like the other. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. I gave them a 10 out of 10. They could of easily told me no like the other places but didnt. Thank you for the help I received on a sat afternoon and got my car fixed.

This is my first bad review. I drove my beauitful audi Q7 myself to capitol mechanics after I read so many good reviews about them. My car had a coolant warning light. No check engine light and nothing major. I asked them for a diagnostics. Their first estimate was 1400 dolar for changing waterpump and thermostat. And Sam told me I could pay in installments and they would deduct the diagnostic charge out ot total. When I said how can they trust me? She said they will simply have faith. Later I learned that they have no faith, no moral and no work etchics. Anyway I will come to that point later. I agreed for the repair. The day later after my research I thought this is the best option. When I took my car there for them fix it, they refused the deduct diagnostic as they previously promised. And they told me repeatedly " we are not a financial instutitions to do installments" and that I have to pay full. Two promises they made while I was making decision were both lies. When they started working on the car, After like 2 weeks they told me the final cost would be about 2700 dollars. I was fine with it. I just wanted them to give me my car. It was long enough. After first week of repair process I gave their loaner back because I was not driving it. One month into long repair Mike gave me a call and said that the car is fine and I can finally take my car from them. When I went there and ask for an ny state inspection they refuse to do it. They said I have to drive it for 2 days before they they can inspect my car. When I asked why they did not drive to test the car, he said, he can't pay the mechanics working for him to drive my car. But they charged me 100 dolar for test drive. It is in my bill!. Anyway I took my car from them and in just 2 hours check engine light was on, the car was shaking like crazy I figured out there was no splash cover under the hood. They were that negligent. My car would only drive on high rpm. I was so frustrated I took my car to capitol mechanics again. They started working on it. One day after like 5-6 weeks into the repairs Mike called me and said that I needed to pay 10k usd for them to fix my car. I said "are u kidding me, you guys messed up my car and ask me for more money?" They said "well it is your problem". The mike guy who was a nice guy in the beginning would repeatedly call me to threaten to call the police on me if I did not return the loaner to them. For the people who are reading these lines, you know that the problem was?? I gave their loaner back in first week. They would call and harrass me for something they knew I didn't have. I told him many many times that they have loaners key, and the car is their parking lot. He would later never apologised for that. He would call and ask for the loaner without listening to me. They were seeing the loaners car was sitting right next to them all the time. I expected them to stay behing their work and promises and gave me my car after I was charged usd 2700. They never offer me for a compensetation. One day after 2 months my car was in their parking lot. I got a letter from them It was saying they would started to charge me 50 dolars per day for parking. When I went there to pick up my car.My car was not in driving condition. They messed up all engine, engine parts in back seats, no splash cover under engine. I found my car in a mess. I drove my car with a minor problem to them and got it back in such a mess. I had to pay a towing company to get my car to my parking lot, and asked kaddo's auto to asks his opinion. He came to my parking lot, and told me the repairs will cost me more than 11 thousands, and whole engine needed to be replaced. Sam, tina and mike, those people have done me so much harm. It should not be that easy to get away withit. They made 2700 dolars, I lost a car. I don't have money left to fix it. I will see them in court soon. You can see pictures of diagnostic and bill and pictures of dashboard after so called repair. I am so dissappointed. Shame on them.

I had a issue with the car a week later, the same issue from when the car stalled out. Again they took me the next business day and replaced the part for me for free. It was 20 years ago when I first time brought my car to Capitol Mechanics after in some other places the problem was not resolved. Since that time Capitol Mechanics is the only shop, which I use for car repairs and maintenance. Mike and Tina never push me to do some unnecessary work; on the other hand, they do all necessary maintenance that allows me to keep my cars in good condition for more than 10 years. Their business works with cars of all possible models and years – in their garage I saw Rolls-Royce from 60-s and Mustangs from 70-s. They recently purchased new equipment that allows them to work with trucks. They are nice and friendly people and have good professional mechanics in their workshop. DM, PhD.

My wife and I were driving home from Maryland to New Hampshire on Tuesday evening, when, after eleven hours on the road, I noticed the strong smell of burning oil inside our 2020 Toyota Prius. Had we not found them, we likely would have needed a tow, a hotel, and an overnight delay before anyone could even look at the car. Instead, we made it home that night—and, incredibly, I even received a follow-up call the next day to make sure we’d arrived safely and that the Prius was running well. Who does that? Simply put: people who care. In a world where true customer service is increasingly rare, Capitol Mechanics stands out. Their kindness, competence, and genuine concern for a complete stranger felt more like the treatment you’d expect from family than from a repair shop you’ve never visited before.
