I took my car to Car-X to address following issues, including the engine light, shaking engine at idle, and TPMS light and noise while driving. My budget was very tight, with only $1,400 available to fix my vehicle. They assured me that these issues would be resolved and provided an initial estimate of $1,430, After spending $1,300, none of the promised repairs were completed. The engine light is still on, the car still shakes at idle, the TPMS light remains on, and the engine noise while driving persists. To make matters worse, they later told me they couldn’t find the part needed to fix the engine and excused the shaking as “normal for an old vehicle.” They also added that fixing the TPMS light would cost another $600, despite initially promising to address it as part of the estimate. This experience felt like a complete rip-off. I trusted them to fix my car, but instead, I’m left with the same issues and no money. I am extremely disappointed and cannot recommend this shop to anyone.

I took them my car in AUGUST for what they said was just a cord rubbing against my belt, I call back the next morning to check on it.. & asked if they could move the cord over so it’s not rubbing against the belt & I would just get it home to a shop where I’m comfortable. they said yes I should be ok. so I get it, start heading home not even 10 mins on the highway my car start doing this hot & cold thing WHICH IT WAS NEVER DOING BEFORE. so I’m thinking I need coolant, I get to a gas station they forgot to put the coolant lid back on & it was leaking all over the engine & etc. long story short I end up getting it towed back to their shop. they say it’s a hole in my radiator so I would need A WHOLE NEW RADIATOR, LOWER RADIATOR HOSE, & COOLANT FLUSH. fast forward now it’s SEPT, my warranty wouldn’t pay for it due to clamps being broken off my radiator. I end up calling them & asking what would be the price since I have to pay out of pocket now, they tell me they have to make adjustments because they thought insurance was gone pay for it.. why does it matter whose paying for it??? the price should be the same regardless, anywho I go to pick up my car mind you I DO NOT LIVE in CHAMPAIGN I live in IOWA. 2hrs & 45 mins away. I get somebody to take me to Champaign, I ask them before I come did they get everything figured out & was everything okay before I got there they say YESS. I ask them AGAIN once I’m there they say YES, i ended up paying $2,040. I drive to Dave’s hot chicken that’s not even 6 mins away. I go to reverse to pull in the parking spot & this black oil get to spilling out the front of my car & I wasn’t able to go front wards or backwards! so I called the shop, whole time they forgot to put the transmission thing back on all the way smh. they get it towed back to their shop. now they test driving it & it KEEPS smoking & getting hot & cold which it was NEVER doing before it got to them. steady saying their doing everything to the best of their knowledge & etc. I got their at 3pm & didn’t leave til 6:55 pm, he said everything was good now & blah blah blah. I take it to get back on the highway ITS DOING THE SAME THING, so I drove it BACK to their shop & left it with the keys inside. I call in the morning expressing my disappointment, they said they would get on it. that was around Halloween night. here it is, NOVEMBER now I go get my car they telling me everything is good I have nothing to Worry about! I go to get on the highway IT DOES THE SAME EXACT THING ITS BEEN DOING!! I get in contact with the district manager, they had me take it to Bloomington. while my cars there they said it wasn’t bled properly ig it was air bubbles in my coolant line, so they get that done. they said I should be fine now, so now I get back on the highway after being their til 430 pm. as I’m driving it DOES IT AGAIN, now I’m closer to Peoria. I call the district manager & tell her IM STILL HAVING PROBLEMS, so she calls the next store closes which was Peoria & had me take it there. now all a sudden they telling me I have a head gasket blown, I need the top of my engine head replaced & etc. costing almost 5k MORE DOLLARS. like I jus don’t get it, if that was the problem the first time why did I have to pay for the radiator!? this was the most unprofessional, inexperienced place I have EVER been to I DO NOT RECOMMEND! If I could give them negative stars I would !! the lady promised to help out if I had any problems & etc. gave me her main # & been ignoring me for the last month!!! I won’t even be able to celebrate my baby’s xmas!!! I lost so much money driving back & forth paying for rides, paying people & etc! atp I’m ready to go to court!!

I tried to pick up my car on Saturday at 4 pm. Their hours say they ar down till 6 on Saturday, but they were closed. Now I can not get my car till Monday. I have to be at work at 6:30 Sunday and Monday morning so this is extremely inconvenient for me. I will not take my car here anymore because of this unprofessionalism.

Very terrible experience. I had a flat right tire and I took the vehicle to the shop for it to be fixed. I was told I needed to change the my tires, Wheel Bearing, Tie Rod End and Wheel alignment. Each parts on the quote was 3x the market price for such parts. I was told it will take 2hrs to fix. The repair guy left the car unattended and it was not ready until after 4hrs. I took the keys and wanted to drive home, there was a very bad noise (like a rod dragging on the ground) coming from the Front Passenger’s side. I took the car back immediately and I was told the repair guy had gone (closing time was suppose to be 7PM- but here is a repair guy leaving by 5PM). I observed that the nuts were not properly screwed. The Rude staff behind the desk said there was nothing to be done. Next day, I can back and I am told the CV Axel Shaft for that side is bad and need to be fixed. I got another 3x price quote from the rude staff saying nothing can be done till Monday. I was asked to pay for tab damage that was not on my car or their diagnostic report for the car - which was likely a result of poor work. I will not recommend this place to anyone looking to do a good job on their car. If the shop wants to stay in business, they need to work on their staff. No one gets a reward for being rude and handling a business badly probably because it doesn’t belong to them.

Normally don’t write bad reviews but had to do it this time. Waited at the door for 15 minutes no one in the lobby. Then comes a dude incredibly rude with a big fy attitude, don’t know his name but it is not important anyway. First thing he asked was “Do you know what time it is! You are late! You wanna do it tomorrow?” That’s not how you address a loyal customer, walk out and found another location, much better. This place has been great but wouldn’t recommend anymore after staff changes. Princess if you don’t like your job, quit.
