Honestly, after reading through other reviews and the 1 star experiences, I had to laugh. Working for a small, local business myself and having to handle customer relations, I know firsthand that despite exhausting ALL efforts to make someone happy or fix a perceived wrong doing, sometimes a good outcome is impossible. Let me share MY experience with Excel, Minor and his team. I called to schedule an appointment regarding my brakes and an ABS system issue. After diagnosing and replacing all that I could myself (truthfully, my dad and brother did the original work, and well enough) I was still experiencing brake skidding in the last seconds before a full stop. *I will also add that I have a unique circumstance - a BAIID device*. I am not embarrassed. I’ve made my reparations and have only simply chosen to wait out getting an RDP. I say all this because it’s pertinent to my situation and receiving good help without judgement for mistakes made over a decade ago. A BAIID makes absolutely no part of car maintenance easy for anyone. Especially the mechanic. That said…. Front of shop/customer waiting area is clean and well kept. I was greeted as soon as I walked in the door and the gentleman at the counter listened to my concerns so he could address them with the mechanic. The mechanic spent three hours exhausting all obvious potential issues and ultimately fixing the problem. Issue being rust on the hub/bearing and ABS system being unable to read wheel speed. THREE hours, and toward the end - TWO mechanics. What I hoped would have been a simple bleed of air or component replacement ending up costing these guys a lot of time and patience. Especially with having to cope with the BAIID device. Buying a 20 year old vehicle, I anticipated issues along the way. Never ONCE, despite being 1 of only 2 customers in the shop’s history to have this device, did ANY of the team make me feel uncomfortable, embarrassed or otherwise. The lead mechanic on my job was friendly, thorough, patient, explained issues, procedures, was polite, well-kept and highly focused on making sure the problem was resolved. Another seasoned mechanic assisted and together they diagnosed and resolved the issue. Now Minor. Not only is he one of the kindest and most forthcoming business owners I’ve ever met, he took time away from his hectic afternoon to have real-life conversations with me. We talked about health, happiness, philanthropic ventures he and his wife have created, community initiatives and concerns, helping children in our own backyard, the military and so much more. Not only was my car fixed, but I gained a friend and resource for helping me get my health back on track like he has. I couldn’t have felt more welcomed to be in his shop if he tried. Minor is the type of person to make you feel immediately comfortable in his presence. Life is challenging, and he took the time to listen to some chatty girl he’s never met before. Heard my concerns and offered help. He’s an endless supply of wonderful resources in our own community; one we both live and work in. I’m a firm believer that people are brought into your life for a reason. And Minor is no exception. I left with my spirits high, hope for regaining my health - and brakes that work!!! These guys will be the ONLY place (other than my dad’s garage, because who doesn’t want to have quality time fixing up a rust-bucket) who will touch my vehicle. Cost was more than fair, I tipped the mechanic (which wasn’t necessary nor an industry standard) and left feeling so honored to have met these guys. 100% I’d recommend this shop, and have been doing so for years based on other stories/people’s experiences I’ve heard about or read. Only recently have I had the privilege to need their help for my own vehicle. If you don’t give Minor and his team a chance, it’ll be your loss. They’re great! Also, the Gun Barrel coffee they have in the waiting area is incredible! The owner is also local. Honesty and integrity go along way with me. You’ll find that at Excel.

Danny helped my girlfriend and I when we were in a bind. She was due to leave on a road trip that day but had the misfortune of someone unsuccessfully trying to steal her catalytic converter the night before. Danny walked us through the diagnostics, how he was going to fix it, fit us in immediately, and helped us tremendously during a very stressful situation.
