I live downtown St. Pete and I much prefer driving to fins and skins than any other reptile store around. I’m really happy I bought my bearded dragon (Yoshi) here bc I have now went to all of the other stores around and this is the best one by far! The staff is very knowledgeable and every time I come in for reptile food I always have 10 new questions to ask them. They are very patient and answer all my questions. Also they boarded my bearded dragon for a week and took amazing care of him while I was on vacation. #1 store in Pinellas county

Awesome place they care so much and have so much knowledge between them all. I drive past 2 other reptile stores I know of from Clearwater Largo line to go here. Prices are better place is spotless and doesn't smell like a litter box. Thank you... Ms. Ruby is so happy we found them... thanks

The whole entire staff over at Fins and Skins has been part of helping me with stocking and maintaining my 75g freshwater Rainbow fish tank. From cycling the tank, adding the fish and understanding the details about how to successfully keep healthy and happy fish. I would highly recommend them to anyone in the Tampa Bay Area!

The staff is amazing. They are extremely friendly, helpful and extremely knowledgeable about everything in the store. From substrate to the food they have a recommendation or best practice for each animal in there. 10/10

We had the most amazing experience and worth the long drive. We had been looking for a lizard for sometime. Something my husband would like after our son is grown and off being an adult, and something our son could handle like our bearded dragon before she passed. I learned so much in 10-15 minutes from one of the guys on staff (I think Joe?) than we did with weeks of research and numerous reptile shops we visited. I know from having one before how big of a decision this is for our family. They are a rescue on the lizard side. They handle them and know them, not ship them in and dump food in until it's sold. We ended up with something different than we planned, but perfect for our family's needs and wants- a Red Ackie Monitor. Our son feeds him outside his enclosure each morning. We got a large screened enclosure plus additional structure. If you're trying to find the right fit where reptiles are cared for, this is the place for you.

Where do I begin I had visited this store a few times looking for an Antilles pink toe tarantula well they had one that was unsexed approximately 2" overpriced @ $200 I tried to bargain with owner and they were pretty firm about price with that being said the poor tarantula was in horrible living conditions 1x4 deli cup with nowhere to climb, moldy substrate Humpback flies (parasites) but I really wanted to give it a good home I asked the workers if we could open the container so I could get a good look at it they seemed very hesitant and only opened it far enough I could peek at it well I got it home only to find that it was injured and missing a leg the tarantula survived about 3 days I tried to dr. It back to health but know I have a dead tarantula my heart is broke and I'm out $200

Great place, helped me get some amazing cherry shrimp and spent a lot of time making sure I understood how to best care for my new pet. I would definitely recommend this place to others, and this is a great place to support rather than your local petsmart and petco.

The absolute best fish store. Everyone there is welcoming and full of information that you need to know. My man Kurt taught me alot for my set up and going forward on things. They’re honest and straight forward with what needs to happen.

Just like everything else you buy you need to know what you're buying the staff is very friendly here and most of them know what they're talking about I buy most of my fish from the store as you will see in the picture I even bought the Driftwood. This is one of the most complete stores for setting up a tank and knowledgeable staff that won't just sell your fish to die. These are little ecosystems that can't be rushed so listen to what they tell you and follow the directions precisely this is a science we're fooling nature by containing a man-made ecosystem good luck.

Skip the chains (pet smart etc). Don't even shop around if you're within 100 miles. This guy knows his animals and runs the shop. Honest owner who is always present in the shop to give advice. Have had so much success with our reptile purchases here for my kids over the years after having so many failures when I was trying to keep lizards as a kid.

These guys are amazing! I called them on Labor Day (when they were closed) and left a message about urgently needing help shipping my two year old White’s Tree Frog. They messaged me back that same day & had everything ready to ship my little guy when they opened the next day. The staff there were so nice, they answered all my questions, and they treated my animal like their own. This was my first time having to ship my frog & I called every other exotic pet store in the area to see if they could help me or offer any advice. I was very nervous for my pet’s safety and was just looking for someone with experience to help me out. Fins and Skins was the only place that was willing. My frog arrived safe and sound & I can’t thank them enough for their time and dedication!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5 Stars A Lifesaver for Fish Enthusiasts—Especially Those New to Saltwater! I’ve kept freshwater tanks for over 10 years, but recently made the leap into saltwater—and let me tell you, it’s a whole new world. I came to Fins and Skins with concerns about a particularly aggressive fish that kept eating every tankmate I tried to introduce. Anyone who’s been in this hobby long enough knows how costly and frustrating that can be. From the moment I walked in, the staff were incredibly welcoming, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate. They took the time to listen to my specific setup and challenges, then provided expert recommendations on compatible fish that could thrive alongside my troublemaker. But what really sets them apart is the level of guidance they offer. They didn’t just sell me a new fish—they gave me detailed advice on how to properly introduce them to reduce stress and promote a healthy transition. Their insights were spot-on, and for the first time since switching to saltwater, my tank feels stable and balanced. Whether you’re a seasoned hobbyist or new to the game, I can’t recommend Fins and Skins highly enough. These folks truly care—and it shows. 🐠💙

My dad took me here as a kid and I believe was close with the owner at one time. I have continued to come here for years as an adult and always refer people here. They care about the animals and take time to educate potential pet owners, which most places don't do. Owning a reptile or fish is a lot of work and people should know that. Love this place, good people.

I have been buying frozen prey for my rescued ball python from Skins and Fins since April. Their product is great quality (my Chuck has tripled his size, and has never rejected prey from them). I do really appreciate the fact that the staff is so willing to help out by sorting through lots of frozen prey, until we find one that weighs (I bring in my scale) the perfect size for my snake. None of them ever complain about me being picky about the size. Everyone I have dealt with is super friendly. I love the place! Thanks
