Edited review… My daughter took the car in for a tire. The receipt/invoice was emailed. All that was discussed at the shop was a the one tire that was changed. There was some question as to the exact charges on the emailed receipt. A follow up was requested (below) on this initial review as a response from Firestone. That was appreciated. Kyle (?) from the shop also contacted my daughter directly and sent the final invoice. This is different from the documents previously emailed. There does not appear to be unapproved charges. However, on the call with my daughter it was indicated that the mechanics recommended 2 other tires be changed. This was not communicated at the shop, even though she did not leave while the work was done. While I appreciate the follow up, hence the changed review, it is still unlikely we’ll do business with this particular Firestone again.

Dropped my car off on February 15 at 8::00 a.m. as per my scheduled appointment. Please keep in mind that today is February 17 and the time is 4:48 PM and I still don’t have my car.
My tire would not fill up with air for four days. I asked the manager at Firestone if there was a state inspector available to also complete a state inspection after repairing my tire when I arrived for my appointment.The manager, told me to come back at 5 PM. I called Firestone at Taylor Road in Chesapeake Virginia before 5 PM to verify the status of my state inspection and tire repair and the person who answered the phone stated that there was nothing wrong with the tire except it had a tread life that was in the process of expiring but was still good enough to pass the state inspection. They also explained that my license plate bulbs were burned out. That’s not the problem. The problem is that I purchased that same tire last fall and I didn’t put many miles on the car because we have other vehicles that I drive. Therefore, how could the tread in that tire be so low when I just purchased the tire. Also, the last two times I had an oil change at this location, a mechanic installed an oil filter that leaks immediately after installation. I called that fire stone to let them know that I just had an oil change the day prior and had a major oil leak under my car the following morning, and suggested that the filter their mechanic installed is an aftermarket filter that may cause someone with a 2013 Kia Optima engine to seize when all of the oil leaks out of it. In my case. It took almost 24 hours for the oil to nearly empty from my engine. Luckily, my husband is an ASE certified master mechanic and was able to determine that the filter that Firestone on Taylor Road in Chesapeake installed for my 2013 Kia Optima. It is a filter that they should no longer be installed on my year, make, and model vehicle. It’s currently 4:58 PM and I had to call Firestone back to ask the status of my car since they kept it another day for a tire repair and state inspection. When I called the mechanic on the phone, stated that my car has been ready since 10:32 AM. He insisted that someone called me at 10:32 AM yet my phone and my account online does not reflect that anyone called me at 10:32 AM from Firestone at Taylor Road in Chesapeake, Virginia today. Going forward, if I ever make an appointment with this place again I will be sure to emphasize that I set an appointment and I intend to have my car back much much sooner than this experience I’ve had in the past 24 hours especially for something as simple as filling a tire and conducting a state inspection within a reasonable time otherwise, the mechanics and management should be extremely forthcoming and honest concerning how long they intend to keep a customers vehicle.
Sal’s down the street would be a much better option on Portsmouth Boulevard as they conducted an oil change and a state inspection with a full parking lot of customers and fewer mechanics In less than 90 minutes. As a former aircraft electrician /mechanic myself, keeping someone’s car for two business days to fill a tire and conduct a state inspection for 36 hours with an appointment is embarrassing and unacceptable.
