This is my first ever negative review which makes me upset as I try to be as positive to others…
I’m extremely upset because this is now be the fourth time I’ve had to bring my car in for issues within 2 days. And now they are closed and I have no option for a rental because they couldn’t diagnose the problem originally. Let me mind you I was offered a rental at the end of the day, but I would’ve had to pay for it as it wasn’t considered under warranty at that time.
1. Check Engine Light Issue
My check engine light came on, so I brought my car in. After running tests, they told me the light was a false alarm, and all their diagnostics came back negative. I trusted their judgment, picked up my car, and drove off.
2. Immediate Problems After Pickup
As soon as I got onto the on-ramp, I noticed my car wasn’t accelerating as it normally does. Like most people, I know how my car drives, and this was not normal. Then, I looked at the gas gauge, which said I had 105 miles left despite the tank being over half full. I immediately took the car back.
The advisor took a look, noticed the car shaking while idling, and tried resetting a few thing on my dash. I then had a drop-off for the following day because I needed to head home.
3. “No Issues Found” Again
The next day, they called me to say they couldn’t find any issues with the car after more tests. They even compared it to another car of the same model, claiming mine drove the same. However, they did mention the battery voltage was a bit low and suggested it might need to be replaced. I appreciated the update and emphasized how important it was to ensure my car was safe, as I had a family trip coming up for Christmas and I’m leaving tonight. They assured me everything was fine. They told me if I fill up my gas tank that the numbers should go back up to what they accurately are in my gas tank.
4. Check Engine Light Returns—Worse Than Before
Not even two hours later, while driving, the check engine light came on again—this time with even more warnings flashing. Since it was near closing time, they said I could stop by to replace the battery. Frustrated because I have no time left in my day as I have had to leave work 3 times already this week. I took my car to AutoZone for a second opinion. Their diagnostics showed four different problems, and my battery passed their tests. Extremely confused why these engine issues with my power train were not showing up then but are now. :/ now I have to get a rental on my own dime just to get to my family’s Christmas when I kept stressing something was wrong. I never had this much problems when I lived in Columbia, MO’s Nissan so it sucks it has been extremely rocky.
Additional Frustrations:
• I’ve already replaced the battery before this, the sprockets three times, along with the head gasket, and now my 2023 Nissan Rogue is still having engine issues.
• I feel like my concerns weren’t taken seriously, and as a woman, I felt dismissed, as though I didn’t know what I was talking about.
My first experience with them my door was partially broken off its hinges when I got it back after getting my head gasket replaced. This was at that time reported, and then they fixed it the next day with no mention the fact of what happened to my door in the process of my head gasket getting fixed. However, I just let it go because at that time I just let it go because they fixed my issue.
I did everything I could to resolve the issues on time, but my car is still not fixed, and I’ve wasted so much time and effort. I’m beyond frustrated and disappointed in the service.
EDIT: took my car to the next closest Nissan in Bloomington, they were able to diagnose my car immediately. As I already knew, my battery is fine and has nothing wrong with it. One of the hoses in my cars power train were faulty and immediately came up as soon as they looked into my car. Which again baffles me Illini Nissan wasn’t able to see that. Bloomington also showed that I needed a new air filter which is upsetting as Illini never said that while I did my oil change with them.
