After years of paying for dealer service rates I decided to try K&M. I was looking for a shop with the outright knowledge and skill to make repairs to my 2008 7 series BMW and came across them through a google search. I was happy to learn that k&m has a full range of factory tools for my BMW and the repair was made with ease. Labor prices were fair at 89/hour easily beating the previous dealers I have worked with. Looking forward to working with these guys again.

Excellent customer service. Last year K&M did a very good job on my VW GTI. This year when my NEW Jeep Wrangler broke down I decided to have them look into it. I knew Jeep wasn't their specialty, but since I have installed a supercharger I thought they were my best bet. They did a great job, and just as important the communication was fluid. I cannot say enough good about this place. Great service and they are good at what they do! It is also a blessing that they are able to get you in way faster than Volkswagen dealership. Volkswagen could not get my son's car in for over a month!!! Kauth and Mayeur got him in in three days. Fantastic!!!

This shop is extraordinary. I was so relieved when I found out there was a Mini-Cooper repair shop in Peoria. My Countryman was due for scheduled maintenance and I needed to leave town later in the week for a long road-trip. The gentleman I spoke to on the phone was able to fulfill my needs and get me scheduled in with ease. I dropped the Mini off in the morning, and one of their staff shuttled me to work. Just after lunch I was told the car was ready to pick up and the same guy picked me up at work and drove me back to my car that evening. They were competitively priced and extremely informative. The techs had topped off all of my fluids knowing that I had a long drive ahead of me and they also ensured that my tires were safe and properly pressured. I'll be coming back to K&M with my wife's Toyota for service too.

Honest, professional, and experienced service; highly recommended for anyone looking to have work done on their European import, whether it be a simple diagnosis or a custom aftermarket install. K&M even provide shuttle service back and forth when your car is being worked on. Doug and Robbie are stellar, ask for either. I don't know anyone else in Peoria whom with I would trust my Volkswagen - fresh off a limited warranty! Plus, there's always a nice car in the lot, so chances are when you stop by you'll see a Ferrari, Porsche, or Lotus :)

I brought my car here several months ago but am just so fed up with dishonest people. I am in the process of trading my car in now because these people did not do what they said they were doing to do. Paid them $3250.00 and my car is still not fixed. They assured me what they did would resolve the issue. Not 48 hours later, my check engine light came back on. I feel like I got ripped off. Thanks for more hassle AFTER I paid you. Is there one honest car repair shop?!?

I had a substandard experience at Kauth & Mayeur. I'm not anonymizing this review in the hopes that they will try and make things right. I also have a picture I took in their parking lot after picking up my vehicle to prove that I am an actual customer of theirs. I brought my Audi in to K&M to diagnose a drivability issue (stutter at high RPMs). I'm highly mechanically inclined and an ex-Euro tech, but in this case, I didn't have time to dive into diagnosing this issue. K&M present themselves as the experts on European cars, so I thought I'd bring my car to them. K&M were unable to diagnose the car in the first charged hour of labor; I totally understand this, and it's not a surprise as it didn't throw a check engine light. K&M called me to request authorization for a few more hours of diagnostic labor, after speculating that "it seems like a bad injector." When I asked what that diagnosis would entail, and how much they were looking for, they said 2 additional hours (a total of 3) would give them the time to pinpoint the issue specifically and provide a diagnosis. I said yes. This is actually good service, and I give them credit for it. Prior to picking up the vehicle, I asked for the specific diagnosis that the service writer said they'd have after 3 hours of intensive diagnostic time. They said that was a "tough issue" that they weren't sure the cause of, since it didn't throw a CEL, and wanted to authorize MORE diagnostic time. They repeated that it "might be a bad injector" but didn't have any idea. The conclusion here is that they essentially wasted those extra 2 hours of diagnosis time, and didn't get any closer to the issue. The service writer was not able to state anything they'd do differently with more diagnosis time either. Pretty straightforward "milking," here as I am now out over $400, and all I have to show for it is a few lines of pure speculation on my receipt. The kicker here is that upon taking the vehicle home, I was able to hook up my VAG com scan tool (the same one they would use at any reputable Euro shop) and was able to immediately spot a discrepancy in the fuel trim on one of the cylinders. It took me 15 minutes to determine this. K&M clearly are not the experts they bill themselves to be. This whole saga took two full weeks after initially bringing my car to them. When the date to pick it up came, I had no call for 3 days following. I had to be the one to call and ask for an update. This is not acceptable and highly unprofessional. When you charge dealership rates, people expect a dealership experience. Honestly, leaving the actual poor quality of their work aside, their customer service was pretty embarrassing. I wasn't even able to press the issue when I picked up my vehicle because, ironically enough, there were 2 separate customers intensely complaining to the service writer about a very similar issue- K&M had spent 3.7 hours over 2 weeks diagnosing their car, to no result. Key takeaways here: 1. K&M have serious issues with the way that they charge for, and utilize, diagnostic time. Prepare to pay handsomely for essentially nothing if you have an intermittent or difficult issue. 2. K&M are simply just not the experts they bill themselves to be. Checking fuel trims for a drivability issue should've been one of the basic things they did, especially since they suspected a bad injector. If a shop that presents itself as "THE place to take your Euro car" can't diagnose a relatively minor, non-intermittent issue in 3 hours of time, that cost should not be passed on to the customer. Honestly, you should reconsider the technician you're using to do that work. It seems like this used to be a good shop at some point, and they're resting on their laurels and quality has seriously slipped. Either way, make sure to shop around for a shop that is 1) cheaper and 2) better.

I’ve been taking my cars here for 4 years now, for both maintenance and unexpected repairs. Kauth and Mayeur has always been honest, reliable, and fair over the years, and I plan to continue using them as my main mechanic. Also, I think Kauth and Mayeur is “the place” to take any type of performance/sports car in Peoria as well. Although they are equip to handle most cars on the road, they clearly have years of knowledge/experience in the performance space and I appreciate that as they work on my cars. I really appreciate Kauth & Mayeur because they take pride in their work, and therefore aren’t afraid to check their work. In the last 4 years of taking my GTi to them, I only had one instance where my car came back to me in a concerning state. I got my brakes done by them (as well as some other maintenance) and the break pedal was softer than before. I called them up a couple days later and let them know what I noticed. They got me in right away to take a look, and fixed it up, free of charge. There was no arguing or trouble like I’ve ran into with other shops, and they were honest about fixing it. It’s hard to find shops that work with you, even after they touched your car. Like I said though, only that one small issue in 4 years m, and it was handled well. So I’ll continue to take my cars here, as I appreciate that type of honesty and the way they work.

I do not usually leave reviews, I believe this is my first one. I felt inclined to leave one after I saw the 4.4 rating they have. There is absolutely no reason they should not have 5 stars. Any of the poor reviews are honestly from incompetence and are unfair. I have always disliked maintenance shops and dealers as they are infamous for taking advantage of their customers. I was considering selling my BMW (which I love) just because the constant high and unfair prices others were quoting me. It was not until I brought my car to Kauth & Mayeur that I finally found a shop that has true integrity. I can not emphasize enough that the only reason I am not selling my car is because I finally found an auto shop I trust. I have now finally found what I have been searching for. I can not recommend them enough. I know maintenance shops and why they are infamous... this is not like the others.

This was my first experience with K&M, and unfortunately, it was a complete disappointment. I took my car in for an inspection and to have my radio fixed. While the inspection went smoothly, the radio repair was a total letdown. I was told there would be a charge for the repair, but what they failed to clearly communicate was that I would still be charged even if the repair didn’t work. Not only was the radio still broken, but it also lacked features that it had before. As a certified Euro mechanic shop, I expected them to use their diagnostic skills to identify the real issue, rather than just jumping to a repair they thought might work. Instead, I ended up paying for a service that didn’t fix anything. When I questioned the charge in person, despite the repair not being successful, I was met with dismissive behavior. The service associate I was working with, was rolling his eyes and scoffing while I was speaking with a "manager." There was no upfront explanation about the possibility of paying for an unsuccessful repair, which feels dishonest and misleading. The lack of clear communication, combined with their rude attitude and failure to properly diagnose the problem, has left me extremely frustrated. I won’t be returning, and I wouldn’t recommend them to others based on this experience.

I generally dont leave reviews, but I have never experienced this before. My last trip with K&M was 4 years ago, I remember leaving the shop feeling taken advantage of, but didn't have any ill feelings. Fast forward 4 years later, I bought a car that needed work and thought of them as a good option. At first, the conversation went very well, and I trusted that maybe things changed and was excited for them to dig into the car. I paid a tow truck $100 and the car was on its way to them when I got a call stating that the decline my car due to a previous repair. I am fair with everyone i deal with. To say I am disappointed is an understatement. No empathy. I guess things have not changed since. No trying to understand customers.

They were about to give my 2012 Smart4two once over. There was some age related issues that needed repaired and a few up keep maintenance. Took three visit to locate the main culprit. All in all at pricey but well worth it, they got my Smart running strong like the day I got her. I would give them my business again.
