Be prepared to pay unexpected amount. Changed just 5 studs with them (not whole wheel hub) which cost $20 max. Paid almost $400. They just ripped me off

They have a promotion package including 4 oil changes and other coupons. This is a good deal. However, they are always busy, so you have to drop your vehicle for all day long sometimes.

Do not trust these ppl they took 1000.00 and didn't fix my car, instead they made it worse. They have firestone logo on their window and thats false advertisement. Nate, Carlos and the store owners are very misleading and liars.

Terrible job at fixing my Chevy Caprice. First they put what is supposed to be brand new tires on my car. A week later the right side of my tires were low. They claimed it was due to them not balancing the tires. Then they did a radiation job on my car and I got it back with the low coolant light coming on. I took it back to them to fix the problem and the check gage light started coming on when I picked it up and wasn't on before. Now my whole car broke down and won't start. I will not be going back to Firestone for any services ever again. I heard Peter B's is pricy but worth the money. I'll be trying them. Firestone y'all service suck and y'all better off closing down because it isn't right to take people's money without doing the job properly or breaking other things on the car to get more money.

Visited Kirby's Firestone for an oil change and the tire rotation for the first time. I am not sure about the oil change, but the tire rotation wasn't done. I visited there again and requested for the tire rotation and waited for ~15min. At first, I was impressed about their fast work, but when I checked my car, the tires were all in the same place. No tire rotation was performed period. I also noticed that the mechanic touched my items in the passenger compartment and all my documents and items were flipped around. I am not sure if any items were missing. It was very very very disappointing experience.

Payer beware. Had a Groupon that included no-cost oil change. Was charged $20 to fix an alleged "nail in the right rear tire." The oil change was fine, and I don't mind paying $20 for an oil change. HOWEVER pretty big coincidence that they "found" a nail that wasn't there earlier in the day just to come up with a charge so I wouldn't get the deal I paid for with the Groupon. It's too bad because I needed a good (and honest) mechanic.

Took my truck in with flat tire. When I left with 2 new tires had a terrible shake so I took it back. Balanced it no problem but when I left a day later I start hearing a grind and whale like a siren. I take it to my dealership in town and I find out they bent the shroud around my rotor. Probaly to make it sound like a bad hub bearing which I thought it was. My wife says no I don't think they would do that. So we take her car in and now I have 1 tire at 76 psi and my back tire at 15 psi. Funny they were all 36 psi when I pulled in. Straight garbage I know now they messed with my vehicles so I will bring them back in for services that are not needed. So displeased and calling corporate Monday morning. $1600 in for this nonsense. Absolutely I will pay the dealership from now on. I know they are honest and never had issues after work done.

After two years of experience with Kirby's I feel comfortable in saying they have been consistently honest, reliable, and up front about their work and the cost they charge. Being a graduate student at UIUC it is difficult to judge who in town to trust with auto repairs. They've been in business for decades and have convenient bus service to and from the shop for most of CU. They offer a seating area, tv, and refreshments to customers and have experienced professionals working there. I have found their service discount card, which they offer on their website, to be a great deal. Finally, if you are new to having your car serviced be sure to listen carefully to their recommendations and ask questions if you are unsure about any aspect of the process. I believe they are there to help their customers stay on the road while charging a fair price for their services, you can't ask much more than that from a service center.

They fixed our tire leak by patching it up quickly and inexpensively. Staff were very helpful in resolving our issue, I would definitely recommend!

I had them put on tires in the summer this year and they did a great job. Today I got them rotated and they were plot and fast with their service. They also checked other items out and noticed the oil was a little low and topped it off. Great to know since I'm going out of town this weekend. Thank you for the fast and friendly service!

This was the worst car experience I've had. I went in for an oil change. Sat down for an hour. Asked if it was almost done. They said that I had submitted a drop-off request and they hadn't started the oil change yet. I was frustrated and they said "maybe if you had read what you clicked online" and treated me very disrespectfully, never apologizing for the miscommunication, but rather immediately shifting the blame on me. Never coming back here again, definitely asking for a refund.

I would like to thank you for getting my son home safely for Christmas. He is halfway home and called to say his car is running excellent. Thanks for making him safe.

I can honestly say Kirby's is one of my top 5 favorite businesses in town. Is that weird to say about a tire & service center? It's true! The employees are what make me choose to come back time & time again. Their great customer service starts with a phone call. Josh is a pleasure to work with - he's organized, knowledgeable, remembers details about my car (which is crazy b/c my car is reliable & therefore only needs oil changes every few months - no major repairs, thankfully), and is flexible working with my schedule. The building is clean & comfortable to wait in while your car is serviced. The guys doing the work are always thorough & clean - never making my car leave smelling like a shop. I have routinely been pleasantly surprised with their fair prices for the amazing work they do. As if I couldn't love them more than I already do, they really made an impression when they showed kindness to my dog. I had an unexpected issue arise with my car & needed it seen ASAP, but had my dog with me. It was insanely hot outside, but I was prepared to wait out in the shade. They invited both of us in to wait in the air conditioning while my car was being worked on. I will never take my car anywhere else & would happily refer all of my friends and family to Kirby!!

Quoted me over $3,800 for repairs because they said I needed a new transmission. I took it to another mechanic and found that there was simply a faulty circuit and the transmission was completely fine. SCAMMERS. Reply to comment: Let’s define the term scammer! Definition: “a person who commits fraud or participates in a dishonest scheme”. It’s actually quite simple. I paid you to do an inspection of my car and you lied and provided me with completely false information (therefore making this a dishonest scheme). Hope this helps! Comment 11/11/2024: FYI the reply from said company has been edited to sound professional instead of the original snide & disreputable one that also disclosed my private information.

We had a problem with the car's battery and locking system. The problem was diagnosed quickly and we were given extremely helpful advice on how to address it. I couldn't recommend them higher! They were courteous, responsive and patient with our questions as we decided what to do with the car. We live in Chicago and my son is a student at U of I, so especially appreciated the excellent service for a student away from home. 5 Stars!!

This shop has terrible customer service and no accountability. Victor worked on our fuel pump, didn’t fix it correctly initially. Then our car sat for over a week because Victor was out sick, and the master tech wouldn’t work on it after they already had our money. The car has been there for 2 weeks now. We spoke with Nate and Carlos multiple times with no results. Messages left for the manager, Pat, have gone unreturned. No refund was offered, and there was zero attempt at service recovery. Do not take your vehicle here.

I had a bit of a tire emergency. They got me worked in and replaced some tires, which is what I was expecting. It was done at a fair price. The service writer Josh was very friendly, honest and down to earth. As someone who used to work in automotive service, I appreciate that very much.

In 2023, I was told I needed to get my drive shaft replaced. I went to this location for the work, and it cost me over $1200, but that was standard for the repair. I continued to use this location for other car maintenance, but move from the area. I found out today at a different mechanic that the drive shaft was installed upside down and backwards, which has damaged the drive shaft. Now I have to pay another $1200+ to fix this inexcusable mistake.

Expensive and unreliable at best. At worst, they lie to you. I recently (12/22/24) went to them because my car wasn't moving even though I just got my battery replaced and I happened to mention/ask if it was a throttle body issue. After two days they gave me a quote for almost $900 for full throttle body replacement and when I asked them to look for cheaper options for the parts, they told me that they need to make a profit off of the part and that's their business model. All of this is still fine. My problem is that they charged me a diagnostic fee of $160 and didn't even diagnose the problem right or just lied to me about it. Because I took my car back as I couldn't afford that and took it to another mechanic further away. All they did was recalibrate the throttle and my car was good to go in 10 minutes!! Apparently recalibration is standard procedure after battery replacement!! I'm not upset that they gave me a huge quote. That's their business. But they charged me money for a "diagnosis" which was COMPLETELY WRONG!! The throttle body needed calibration which was a 10 minute job. Not replacement and definitely not an expense of $900!!! I'd very much like my money back for the wrong diagnosis.

I was recently told by another repair shop that I needed my brakes replaced. I took my car to Kirby’s for another opinion. They determined my brakes are fine and also performed a 30 point inspection. No work needed at this point, and there was no change for the visit. This is my 2nd time dealing with Kirby Firestone in Urbana and I definitely plan to continue to use them for servicing my car.
