Been using Mike's for about a year now. Driving an almost 200k-mile vehicle, things break. They're always honest and efficient, only fixing what needs to be fixed. I also don't have the luxury of dropping my vehicle all day for a simple oil change, started using them because they offer appointments, haven't looked back since. I've had mixed interactions and mixed opinions on Mike's Service Center. I'm not sure if it's who's behind the desk/working in the shop at the time or something else. Sometimes they seem fair and honest, other times like they're trying to make a sale and scam you. As an example, my car has those bothersome headlights where you have to go up through a hatch in the fenderwell, open a small soda can sized cap, then pull the light out. Problem is I have huge hands that make it difficult for me to change them. So once I went to them, new bulb in hand and asked them if they could change it for me, even told them I was willing to give them some money to do it. The young kid went out to my car and quickly changed it within a couple of minutes. I asked him what he wanted for it and he replied, "nothing, have a nice day!" Now I'm not saying it should always be that way. I would have been willing to pay upwards of $20.00 for those two minutes of time. But he did it for free and that made me want to come back later with more business for them. And I have, since then, gone back and had things done to more of my vehicles as well as recommending them to family and friends, and they have gone there too. However the last time I went there for another headlight on the exact same car, new bulb in hand just as before, I got a completely different reaction that has made me second guess my business there. Once again, I was willing to pay some money for the two minutes of time it would have taken again. This time I got an older gentleman who informed me that it would be $120.00 for a diagnostic before they could change the headlight. After informing him I was sure it was just the headlight and the humorous problem was really just my massive hands and I was willing to give them some money to just put the bulb in he said there was nothing else they could do if I didn't want the diagnostic and I left. Later I got a friend to do it for me and yes, it was just the headlight and in no need of a full diagnostic. There have been other things done to my vehicles and friends and family's vehicles that have made me question them, but that is the most direct example I could give. Maybe it's who you talk to there, maybe it's who you are, or maybe it's just the time of day, week, or month.

I’ve been going to Mikes for a very long time. Had tires put on in an emergency situation. Most places wouldn’t have accommodated me like they did. On top of that they are easy to work with and always priced below what I can find anywhere else.

They charged me $2,200 to fix my AC. I get my car back. AC doesn’t work. When I take it back 2 days later, he made it clear he was being nice by not charging me for a diagnostic again. Although I paid for one plus 2gs 3 days prior. So, they do not check their work at all. Wanted to charge me to have them look at their work, and i left with hot air. Don’t trust them. Oh, they said it’d be another 350$ for a simple fan that “they missed”. Which wasn’t true. Next shop found the issue. For way cheaper.

I have been taking my cars to Mike's for over a decade. Our cars are both Domestic and European. The thing I love about working with Wayne and Rod is that they tell me what broke, and needs to done now, and what needs to keep on my radar for future repairs. Quotations are always followed through with to the dollar. When unexpected items are found during the repair that may add to the quotation, I am invited into the shop to examine the reason why. I can't see my life in Kansas City over the years without the transparency and honesty of the team at Mike's. Yes, you are going to wait a few weeks to get an appointment into the shop, and EXCELLENT SERVICE is the reason why. I'm not afraid to wait and pay for workmanship. They are a great automotive repair shop is a jewel of the KC Northland.

These guys had my car for three weeks leaving me without a car. I called three times during that time and they called me several times always with an excuse why they weren’t doing anything to it. They just parked it in with the numerous other cars they have parked in front of their shop and hadn’t even moved it during that time. I finally took my car back and took it to another shop and I had it back the same day.

Place makes up charges to charge you. They charge cheap price, but repair not always accurate. Had a car I don’t drive and park in a garage, inspected. Some how got its LED brake light plug got pulled out and needed repair. Not all of your customers that inexperience to get fool like that!

My family including extended family, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, the whole fam damily has been going to Mike's Service Center for more than 25 years and the reason is simple....they are honest. Having sat in the waiting area and over hearing the conversations between the seasoned mechanics and management and hearing them discuss ways to help the customer is pretty damn near amazing. I remember as a kid going in there with Mike's mom working behind the counter. Support local. Support honest and transparent folks who do the right thing, support Mike's Service Center. We need more of them around!
