If you want a mechanic who treats you fairly, values your input, and does excellent work, this is the place. Highly recommend. I brought my older Mini Cooper to Next Gear Bimmer after getting a check engine light. I already had some insight from my OBD2 reader (possible solenoid or timing chain issue), and unlike many mechanics who dismiss my inputs or talk down to me simply because I'm a woman — they actually listened. Every step of the way, they discussed the options with me like adults having a real conversation. They explained what needed to be done, asked for my input on how far I wanted to go with repairs, and never once tried to upsell or patronize me. They also independently looked into an issue with my brake light assembly that another shop quoted $250 to fix. Next Gear Bimmer resolved it for $25 with a different socket. Honest, thoughtful, and genuinely respectful professionals.

I desperately needed a new spot for my routine oil change because Valvoline wasn't cutting it for me anymore - very disappointed. Did a "near me" oil change search and came across this great shop. From the reviews, I decided to give them a shot and LUCKY ME!! The guys here who work/run the shop were so awesome and they were able to squeeze me in! Professional, polite, and gave me confidence that I made the right choice. They have a bathroom, coffee, and small waiting room in the back, but also the location is so great because while they worked on my car I walked over to the Happy Lemon tea shop and Safeway around the corner for a treat. Great location and service overall, 10/10 would recommend them, thanks guys!

Htet and KC are class acts. My BMW was out of warranty and the dealership handed me a list of expensive maintenance recommendations. In reaching out to Htet, he offered to inspect the vehicle at no charge to determine which repairs were needed and to provide estimates. Htet gave the vehicle a thorough inspection and advised to hold off on two of the dealer’s recommendations. He kindly added some coolant and offered very competitive prices that were well below the dealer’s prices. I moved forward with their service. They were able to schedule me within days to allow them time to get all OEM parts. On the day of service, I was met by KC who was super friendly and helpful. They completed everything by 2:30. And Htet and KC showed me the parts that were replaced and identified what was wrong with them. These guys are super friendly, thoughtful, and professional.

I had an excellent experience. Htet runs a great independent shop. It's literally down the steps from the Belmont Caltrain station platform. Shop is clean, bright, and very tidy. I've had two BMW's, and though I've had great full-service experiences at Peter Pan for years, once the car's out of their free dealer maintenance period, it feels more cost-responsible to find a reputable independent BMW specialist shop. I called around to get estimates for my X5's brake pads and rotors replacement, as well as replacing a sagging air suspension spring. Htet was super-responsive over email and text, and was the best cost among independent shops I called along the peninsula. Made an appointment, Htet checked me in personally, then I hopped on the Caltrain and was back home in 20 minutes. He texted me that my front brakes had enough thickness still, and only the rears needed replacement. Car was ready within the day. Casey showed me the old air suspension spring with the aged-rubber cracking. Ran the CBS data and reset all appropriate values and cleared the existing service alerts - no more red triangles. Felt good to be supporting a local shop run by good people. For my older car, just give me a good cost, and get me in and out of there with a smile and a handshake. It's probably all in my head, but it feels like my X5 drives like new again. Guess that's what happens when you leave a shop happy.

Htet, KC, and the rest of the team at Next Gear are a pleasure to work with. And I would recommend them to any BMW owner without hesitation I used to take my car to Performance Technic and VT Motorworks. But ever since I moved to the Peninsula, I needed a trustworthy shop closer to me and not in the East Bay. That's when my friends pointed me towards Next Gear. To be honest, they weren't my first choice because my M3 had a lot of bolt-on mods. At first, I took it to another shop who did shoddy work. Then, I took it to another shop who fixed the first shop's work but never followed up with me on additional work I wanted to get done. Finally, I turned to Next Gear. They were happy to take my business and fix everything I asked them to. A couple months later, I asked them to do a major tune-up. Then, a few months after that, I asked them to replace my broken cats so that I may pass smog. Every time they worked on my car, they understood the scope of work and didn't try to upsell me. They were upfront with pricing, flexible with timing, and communicative throughout. They even helped me out with questions I had without taking my car to them. Simply said, they're just good people. As long as I'm on the Peninsula, Next Gear Bimmer is where I'm taking my M3.

I had an excellent experience with Next Gen Bimmer Motor in San Carlos. They helped service my Mercedes GL after it unfortunately had rodent damage. Htet and his team thoroughly cleaned the engine and removed all traces of the rodent infestation, and they also repaired an issue the rodents caused that affected my fuel gauge and tank level readings.
