More like Unreliable! They had my car for 2 and a half months! they told us that the amount of work that had to be done on my car is about 14 hours. they had it for 2 and a half months! then we get something in the mail from the city showing my car 15 miles away at an apartment complex. My car received a ticket and the mechanic that took it didn't even tell anyone that there was a ticket. Thankfully when we called to tell them about this they did pay the $70 ticket that day. Awful place! don't ever go there. Can't trust them especially after paying $3200!

You know... Shane, their manager, was good and was trying to do what he could, but it just sucks that he had to deal with it. I had a scheduled appointment to get my alignment done. When scheduled they said it would take an hour. Not only was i waiting around for 3.5 hours for an 1-hour job to get done, but another customer was in their shop waiting for over 4 hours just to get a diagnostic complete, which never happened because they were so behind. They only had 1 tech for the last 4 hours of business while he had at least 4 cars he was trying to finish and get out the door. Mechanical ability seemed to be ok, but what is the point of having an appointment to get something done IF they can't keep it.

Reliable Auto redeemed my view of Sandy, Utah :-). I had had a rough week staying there for an event with 2 stops by the police due to inadvertently expired license stickers. I stopped by Reliable Auto and they had my safety inspection, an oil change, along with new DMV stickers all done in less than 45 minutes They even didn't charge me for the exhaust test when they found out I did not require it. The wait was pleasant, the employees friendly and I felt they were really there to help me. I would definitely go there again and wish I lived closer. Thank you!

I went here because it's a 5 minute walk from work. I had a leaky heater in my truck. They fixed it. A week later it was still dripping out of my truck so I took it back. They reordered the part and installed a replacement for free. I was worried about dripping water a few days later so I stopped by and without having to wait the owner and the mechanic came out and explained/showed me that there was still some water from the original leak and it was in a spot impossible to get to with a vacuum. After a week the dripping stopped and the last few months there has been no problem. These guys worked above and beyond to help me understand the situation. Oh, they did all that work for a little $120 repair. I'd say they did good work with great customer service!

I made an appointment for an alignment and everything was fine until I asked to talk to the person who would be doing the work. The man at the desk's attitude changed. "Why do you want to talk to him?" he asked. As a former mechanic, who has done hundreds of alignments, I just wanted to speak to him and let him know my preferences. As it became apparent that I was interested in having the work done correctly, not just casually, I was told that they could not do the alignment on my BMW (although that had not been a problem when I made the appointment, stating the year, make, and model). I got the impression that this would be an OK place to have work done if I did not have a car that I cared much about, but if I wanted the work done correctly, I had better look elsewhere. I was really disappointed by this shop; the ads made it look like a quality operation, and between having six automobiles myself and being active in several car clubs, I was hoping to find a place I could go to and recommend with confidence. I'll keep looking...

I WISH I WOULD HAVE READ THE REVIEWS BEFORE WASTING MY TIME. I typically stick with the same car place that I've used for years (Precision AutoTune). However, these guys had a Groupon for breaks- so I scheduled and got my car in. I dropped it off and about an hour later got a call that my break pads were fine, but I would need about $800 worth of other work (tune up & system flush) I declined and asked that they just do what I came in for. Another hour later, they called and said it's not my break pads that need replacing, but the rotors (so they were gonna charge $150, not to replace them- but to 'fix' the ones I already have). At that point (since the two hours my car was there and literally nothing had gotten done) I just asked them to stop everything and I will go pay my original car place who always gets the job done in a timely manner, and great customer service while doing it! Even with an extreme discount I would NEVER refer anyone (that I care about) to this little sketchy place.

I have a hard time even giving a single star. Our complimentary inspection from them cost me over $700 in repairs from damage they had caused. Granted, my car wasn't in cream of the crop shape, but ran great without any problems. I took it in to have the brakes checked and was told all four roters needed to be replaced, all my brake pads and drums, as well as my hardware for the drums. What they didn't tell me is they broke the hardware for the drum. I was quoted a ridiculous price to fix all of this, and decided to take my car to a family friend for a second opinion. On my way to the other mechanic, my brakes went out entirely. Upon inspection from the other mechanics, I was informed that "reliable" auto had forgotten to connect my braking hardware in my rear wheels, thus causing my brakes to go out. When reliable had dissassembled my braking hardware, they also cracked the housing and misplaced a clamp causing grinding on my roter. Other details I should include is that four roters are In tact, my brake pads do not need to be replaced, and my hardware was fine until they broke it. I would not trust this place with a recreational bicycle. Please stay away, and good luck

I called Reliable and spoke to Jessica who is amazing. I called to find out what exactly was included in their brakes Groupon. She advised me to come in and let them do a full brake test before I bought the Groupon. I went in this morning and they advised me that my rear brakes needed to be replaced. I had gone in for my front brakes. Those were fine. I was upset when they told me it was my rear brakes as I had them replaced Jan 30 2017 at Jiffy Lube on 41st South. They put the car all back together as I wanted to make Jiffy Lube redo them. Everyone there was amazing and professional. I will stop going to Jiffy Lube and take my cars there instead.

I took my sons VW Tiguan to Reliable to have the rear brakes fixed. The diagnosis was that both the Rotors and pads were gone which I knew as the brakes made a metallic sound when applied. Steve and Troy were very helpful and explained that this was not the only thing that needed attention but that the rear shocks were also in bad shape and the front brakes had only 3 millimetres of pads left. In any case the entire repair would come to about $1700. I therefore declined and decided to only have the most important repair on the rear brakes done. The rest of the repairs would be done in stages which was an excellent suggestion. Reliable offered me a loaner so that I was able to take care of some errants and I picked the car up at 3 pm. A very good experience and I felt that the price was fair because the VW Tiguan has special brakes with sensors in the them that are not cheap. I would recommend Reliable any day. Friendly fast service with a smile.

I went here because I saw they had a special on a deal site for a service I needed, but I never expected to leave feeling so positive. I'm a very anxious person and my history of one bad car situation after another has left me extremely apprehensive when it comes to car repairs. When we arrived at the shop the gentleman at the front desk was very welcoming, and got us checked in. The waiting area was equipped with a drink fridge fully stocked and a comfortable waiting area, and a great selection of movies my 4 year old child watch while we waited. When it came time to discuss recommendations Phil was very patient with me as I asked several questions to understand basic car functions. I never pay for things I don't understand. I couldn't afford to do the recommendations right away, but he did an excellent job speaking with me until I felt confident that I understood what was needed. I gave this 4 stars because I was told it would a certain time and it took considerably longer, but there was also a glitch where my appointment wasn't on the schedule, so that's probably due to them squeezing me in. Additionally their parts look a little pricier than I'd love, but they do offer a 2 year warranty on their parts and service. Overall I'm very impressed and will be returning. I may have found an honest trust worthy mechanic that I'm not leaving feeling ripped off. Huge thanks to Phil for taking the time to explain things to me without making me feel stupid!

While having new tires installed for my son's car on at Discount Tires they said the car needed three new lug nut studs on one tire, before they were able to install the last tire. They recommended that I have the car towed and repaired at Reliable Auto Mechanics. Unfortunately the tow truck too a long time to arrive and by at and the car was delivered to the repair shop it was 10 minutes until they closed. The owner and an employee stayed after their closing time to repair the vehicle for us! On top of that they were over 60% cheaper than other quotes I received! High quality work, great pricing, and they went up and over anything they needed to do ... such amazing customer service! Thank you so much! I will definitely be coming back for other work I need done!

I had an oil pan set, new gasket, along with the valve cover gasket replaced and an oil change. In addition, they also wound up detailing my car. I can't say that I have taken my car to the mechanic and had them fix my car, and detailed my car after fixing it. I had a great experience with them, they know what they are doing. I usually have mechanics forgetting to do little things here and there, but the fact that they did everything that I needed to do, and some. This says a lot about their integrity and how they run their business. I would recommend going to them, before anybody else.

I was sincerely impressed with the the service and knowledge of the staff overall. They emailed me a full report of my vehicle inspection including pictures and descriptions of every detail of my car. The front desk staff, Jessica, set a wonderful tone for the whole establishment with her professionalism and knowledge. She really made me feel comfortable and happy with our experience overall. I would highly recommend them! Definitely will be going back.

Reliable auto is truly a diamond in the rough in the auto mechanics industry. I feel like I have been to so many places for auto repair, and haven't felt the sincere customer appreciation, and the quality of work that this shop provides. My wife hit a curb a couple months ago, and it pretty much knocked out our entire steering system. With the help of these guys we have been able to get everything fixed, and repaired in a timely fashion, and they were able to work with our budget, and provided an amazing level of customer service, and quality perfection. They were even able to take care of us to a high degree when we noticed problems later on with several things. The guarantee's that they have on the work they perform is the best out of any business I have ever been to. No questions asked, just down to earth guys who truly recognize who keeps them in business, and are willing to go the extra mile to make sure it is done to the customer's spec's. I would highly recommend this business to anyone who is searching for a genuine, and down to earth experience in the automotive repair industry. Did I also mention that they offer a military discount as well?

I rarely take the time to write reviews for companies with which I had negative experiences. But my most recent experience takes the cake. My wife recently went in to have her brakes replaced. They wanted to charge $1,000 for a simple brake pads change and rear rotor replacement. Yes, $1,000. They also used scare tactics on my wife to trick into making the immediate purchase. We went to big o tires seconds after and had our brakes replaced, alongside EVERY rotor for a total of $620. I will never recommend anyone to go to reliable. They are beyond a joke. In a day and age with smartphones, you really think someone can see through overpriced services? Thanks for letting us spend our money elsewhere!

We talked about my vehicle and me and within a couple minutes they had a repair order written and were looking at my car. They quickly took care of the maintenance and then gave me a comprehensive vehicle health report, explaining all of the items listed, prioritizing the safety and reliability concerns. They performed the most vital items and then further surprised me with an invoice that was less than they had quoted me. I would highly recommend them to anyone with the service shop jitters. Great people.

The brakes on my honda were making a squeaking noise so we came in for a complimentary brake check. They took off all of our tires so they could do a thorough check, which was awesome. All they found was that the brakes needed to be cleaned and adjusted. Much cheaper than getting the brakes replaced! Update... A few days later my brakes started to make the same noise. We took the car back and they fixed one of the other brake clips (front passenger side). They tried to charge us for diagnostics and everything even though they knew what the problem was from our visit less than a week ago. And now apparently one of my brake pads is a little thin.Plus, while driving home I realized that the problem still isn't fixed. I'm more than a little disappointed. Big waste of money!

I just moved out here from CO, and had a great mechanic back home that I had been going to for over 10 years, so I was worried about finding a place I could trust in Sandy. I had an issue with my RDX where it started making strange noises and steam came out from under the hood while it was idling, and my battery was dead in the morning. When I called Reliable Auto, they got me in right away even though I was a new customer. My car was driving fine and there were no warning lights on. They inspected my car and said that everything looked good, and they weren't sure what had happened, but they couldn't find anything that they could justify fixing. Later that afternoon my car began making the same noises while idling. I recorded the noise on my phone and took it straight back to Reliable Auto. They offered to keep my car overnight and gave me a loaner so they could check it out first thing in the morning. When they called in the morning, they told me there was a problem with the AC compressor and gave me an estimate for just over $1200, which I approved. When my car was finished that afternoon, they told me the source of the issue was different than they initially thought and my total was only $220. They easily could have taken me for the $1200 I had initially approved. My car is now running perfectly and I couldn't be more happy with this shop. I really appreciate their honesty and am glad I have found a place I can trust out here. They will definitely be my new mechanic for as long as I'm in Salt Lake and I would recommend them to anyone!

Had a coupon and came in because of the reviews. They took my truck and gave me a detailed inspection of my brakes and suggested what I needed. I didn't hesitate. They did the work in no time. Very friendly and honest from what I expected. They seem to get right to work and will give you feedback as needed. They're communications online is more professional than most dealers with records, work done, etc. Full vehicle inspections are completed with service and warranties are above expectations. Will come back with other cars I own. Give it a try.

In short - customer service was very good, pricing/honesty was atrocious. I hope if you get work done by this shop that you check around and make sure they aren't trying to take advantage of you like they did me. These guys were friendly and even gave me a ride home, so the customer service aspect was great, but the pricing and advice was atrocious. My car broke down in Sandy, which was a bit far from my normal mechanic, so I jumped on Google to see if there were any good mechanics close and found these guys. I had my car towed in and they told me the problem was my battery and I would need a new one. The price they quoted was higher than several other places that I later called to install the same battery. I drive home and the next day within 10 minutes of driving, my car dies in the exact same manner as before. So, I call them and they call a tow-truck to come get me, which was nice and part of the good customer service. I told them that it obviously wasn't the battery and that I would like to put the old battery back in and have a refund, but they said they had already disposed of the old battery and I could not get any refund. I was unhappy at this and it raised a serious red flag for me. A competent shop should be able to tell if battery is good or not. I later took my car to another shop that said any shop that wouldn't always show you the read-out from a battery test was shady - Reliable never even asked if I wanted to see it. They have my car for another day before declaring they then believed the problem to be a crankshaft sensor and it would be over $400 to replace. At this point I called my regular mechanic along with 7 or 8 other shops to see how much they would charge for the parts and labor compared to Reliable for this crankshaft sensor. Of each of the other shops, Reliable was by FAR the highest, including shops such as Firestone and Big O etc. I ended up getting it installed for about $150, which means Reliable tried to charge me over $250 more than they should have.
