Scotty recently rebuilt an LS3 for me. I had bought this as a used, low mileage engine to replace a blown L99 in my 2010 Camaro SS. Unfortunately, the person selling the engine was less than truthful and the rings had badly seized to the cylinder liners causing quite a mess, as can be imagined. I brought the engine to Scotty for help. Tell you what...Scotty is now the only one that will ever touch any of my engines. He listened and heard everything I had to say and assured me he would rebuild this engine to top condition. He did not disappoint. Fresh hone, all new bearings, rings, gaskets, springs, retainers, lifters, .015 head mill, and was cleaned and reassembled for an amazing price, and exactly on point with his original quote. The engine is running perfectly. Some people spend years trying to find a shop that does great work and can be trusted. I found mine the first time out. Thanks Scotty!

Me and my friends have brought numerous engine parts to Scotty and his crew for machine work and he is quick and his pricing fair. I recommend him now to anyone needing engine work as there are few machine shops I trust.

BEWARE! I've had Scotty rebuild four of my big block Chevy engines over the past couple of years. None of them lasted very longβjust a matter of months. The last one only lasted 37 hours. I spent nearly $4000 on this engine with Scotty, expecting and clearly communicating that I wanted a perfect engine that would hopefully last many years. He always had a great story as to why they failed. I thought he was a friend, so I trusted him and continued to do business with him. The last engine, a 640 ci big block Chevy with an 871 blower that I just got back a week ago, had a spark plug hole that was stripped out (not Scotty's fault). THIS ENGINE WAS NEVER STARTED DUE TO THE STRIPPED SPARK PLUG HOLE. I removed the blower intake and the head so that he could repair the spark plug hole. When I removed the head, I was in total disbelief and shock at what I sawβthe cylinder walls have scores and pits in them well over 20,000 deep. For the life of me, I cannot understand why he did this unless he thought he could push more engines through his shop and make more money. If I hadn't found the bad spark plug, I would have never been able to prove this after starting the engine. The engine was going to fail again soon regardless of the scored cylinders because one of the lifters was bent and stuck in the pocket. It took roughly 25 pounds of pressure to pull it out of the pocket. Initially, I asked him to sleeve the cylinders, but he only did a hone job that didn't come close to fixing the problem. Furthermore, he was supposed to install new Inconel valves (I'm not sure if they're actually newβthey're shiny, but the shafts aren't mirror-finished; they have scratch marks as if sandpaper was used to clean them up). The heads, where he was supposed to perform the valve job, are loaded with carbon. Even underneath the valves where they seat, there are carbon deposits everywhere. Please remember, this engine was never started. I'll let you be the judge of this work. I believe the engine was never fully disassembledβthat he only replaced the one piston that needed replacing and put it back together dirty, not caring whether this engine would last five minutes or 50 hours. In conclusion, I wouldn't trust him to rebuild my lawnmower engine, and I wonder how many other people he has done this to who don't even know?
