Did not have a good experience taking my older model vehicle to Silverdale Autoworks. They performed an inspection of my vehicle and they recommended that I perform 3 repairs on my car. The first was to replace a few AC lines (quoted $2100), the second was a replacement of an axle assembly ($4000+), and the 3rd was the replacement of a CV axle ($600). I was told that if I didn't perform the repair then my vehicle could breakdown while driving and that it was a huge safety issue. After researching all three issues and taking my vehicle to another mechanic who did a proper diagnosis, it turned out that two of the recommendations were solved without any repair needed and the third was repaired at 20% of the cost of the silverdale autoworks quote. In all 3 recommendations, it seemed the mechanic did not try to diagnose the root cause of the problem and recommended the most simple and expensive course of action, which was a complete replacement of the part. Because of this experience I do not feel like I can trust this company with my vehicle.

We are always impressed with the personal, one on one what can we do for you, attitude and the "your vehicle and satisfaction with our service is important to us". The service costs are very reasonable compared to dealerships, and their knowledge and abilities far exceed dealerships. Then there is the cleanliness of the shop area and the comfort and cleanliness of the office and waiting room. I rarely write reviews but this shop deserves 5 stars for going above and beyond to fix my Audi Q5. Shout out to Bryan for being transparent and communicative along the process. These guys don’t shy away from challenging diagnosis and repairs. We also took our Subaru crosstrek and they the appointment went smoothly. They are efficient and very professional.

Based on the reviews, I'm sure they service vehicles here professionally. My review is based on a call with a specific service adviser. It was a very poor experience. Bryan made me feel small, unimportant, unheard and frankly, stupid. Perhaps neither of us had our coffee this past monday (1/12) morning but as a service adviser, I would think he would be able to keep his cool better than he did. Like every other person who needs their car fixed, I asked how soon could it be fixed. I stated that it has a torn auxiliary/serpentine belt. There is no doubt he's more knowledgeable about auto repair than me, but a torn belt is obvious to see. Of course its not as simple as replacing the belt but I felt as though he was not listening. I was not interested in knowing how long it was going to TAKE to fix, rather when the fix could START. I've been to the auto repair shop enough times to know that there's often a queue. A diagnosis can be done quickly but there's other cars waiting to get repaired. Further more, parts need to get ordered. I get that. I just needed to know when the repair could START. An answer to that question was going to dictate where I brought the car. Another auto repair shop was able to answer this question within 5 minutes of our discussion. He refused to answer in any way, shape or form. I could not even get a better understanding of how busy the shop was. I kept trying to explain what information I was looking for but just felt unheard and small. Eventually i started to feel panicky and stupid. I'm sure this happens from time to time for all businesses, especially in service but I want to note it here. Customer service is what REALLY sets businesses apart and i really don't appreciate how he made me feel. I don't like being railroaded or talked into submission. So for that I was very disappointed. Again, I'm sure the vehicle service is great, but in this instance, their customer service we not.

I came in for three issues. Engine started to putter, lights turning off, and tire pressure light stays on. Before they even touch my vehicle Bryan has me sign a paper. I thought this was authorization to work on the vehicle only, I didn’t know he put a price on it on the bottom right corner. After all he didn’t mention anything to do with price, just asked me to sign. I leave at 9am. Bryan calls me at 2pm or so and says it will be over $5000. The quote is attached for your viewing pleasure. They tried to charge me $628 just for looking at my vehicle. Bryan lowered it to $420 and acted like he did me a favor for that. (Because of the sign document mentioned before hand. He proceeded to tell me it was my fault for not double checking what I was signing.) I feel taken advantage of. My car putters even more than it did before they touched it now, so I paid these people to break my car. Scam artists.

I came here for a routine oil change based on the glowing reviews of this place. I feel compelled to leave a review because my decision to come here was based on all the positive reviews. The oil change was fine, and a good deal for my VW. However, I was notified during the routine inspection that a horrible sound was coming from the differential that “sounded like a helicopter” and the employee acted shocked that I had never heard any weird sounds while driving. I asked him to show me what he meant. While it was on the lift, they put in drive for me to hear (I heard nothing that didn’t sound like a car running). The tune was then changed to “you hear the gears shredding right?” rather than “helicopter sound”. The car sounded like it was driving, nothing out of the ordinary in my humble opinion, and it definitely did not sound like gears were shredding or a helicopter sound in any way... Especially given I have had no drivability issues or alerts of any kind, or any strange noises even while driving, this was a frustrating and disappointing experience. And I still haven’t in the past few days since this appointment had any issues or heard any weird sounds, or any signs that there is an urgent issue whatsoever. Today I was emailed a quote of more than $8000, which is absurd. If my car breaks down because of this “urgent issue” anytime soon I will update this review. But I highly doubt it given my experiences. I won’t speculate on their intentions, but If this is a common practice here, to over dramatize any small sounds (if at all) and recommend full replacement of major, expensive parts, I felt compelled to urge people to do their own research or at least get a second opinion before forking over thousands of dollars to these people after recommended services. It may not be necessary.

The team at Silverdale Autoworks was great! In the past, I always took my Mercedes E 350 to the dealership for service and repair — which is at least a two-hour round trip for me — and was reluctant to try an independent shop, even one that claimed to be able to service European cars. I decided to try having my 50,000-mile transmission service performed at Silverdale Autoworks instead of at the dealership. I was not disappointed. Bryan was friendly and helpful in explaining the service. My car was clean and ready for pickup sooner than I thought it would be. Now that I know that there is such a great local option for vehicle service and repair, I plan to return for all my future car service needs.
