I was sent over by my mechanic after we found a large nail in my front tire on a Saturday morning. Daniel knew I was coming by, was ready and had the nail removed and tire patched within 15 minutes of my arrival at Universal Tires for a very reasonable price. I would highly recommend Universal Tires to anyone needing any service they an assist with!

Came in to get new brake pads. So happy I did. It's rare to find a place that values customer relationships more than the singular sale. These folks are open, honest and reliable. Rather than be pushy and try and charge as much as possible they engaged me in a conversation about my options and made a new loyal customer in the process. I 100% recommend them.

These guys truly went so far above and beyond. Couldn't give a stronger recommendation for a tire shop (or really any type of business). They clearly cared more about giving me great service than how much they were making. I had been calling and going to tire shops for a couple or weeks trying to find a good set of tires for a decent price and having no luck. Most of the shops I went to didn't seem very trust worthy and were continuously trying to sell me on tires that were either way too expensive or very wrong for my needs. I was on my way to another tire shop and when I drove past universal tires and decided to stop in. Immediatly they seemed trustworthy and I felt comfortable. They didn't have any new tires in my size at the time, so I checked out what the had used. They found four tires for me that were in good shape and are good quality tires that were just what I needed. All four tires mounted and balanced cost barely more than what some shops were quoting me for one tire. And beyond the great deal, they were super friendly and really helpful. I mentioned that I didn't have the security key for my lug nuts, but they said it wouldn't be an issue for them. And then they gave me a security key they had for free. And while they were putting on my tires they noticed my tailpipe was hanging real low. It was my next chore for the day to try and fix it, but without even asking they got it wired up better than I could have. Seriously, if you're in the East Bay and need tires, look no further.

This place is the absolute BEST!! Can’t thank them enough! I had a flat tire that had to get towed, it was getting late and around closing time, but they were kind enough to wait after hours until the tow truck arrived with my car. They were so communicative, accommodating and fast that I was on my way in a matter of a minutes. What felt like the end of the world was saved by this company! Thank you Universal Tires! You guys are truly the best! Will recommend all my friends to come here and will come back for any other tire needs! 😍 & thanks for applePay when I didn’t have my credit cards on me.

Best tire place I’ve ever gone to and it’s not even close. The guys there are super friendly and professional and the prices are great. In my case I had a few hectic weeks at work and couldn’t come in to have the tires changed as promised. But they were very forgiving with me and I really appreciate that.

Awesome service. Easy and straight to the point. The guys here were very friendly and they managed to fix a nail I had on my car in less than 10 min. I would definitely come back if I need to pick up new tires or another patch. Complementary coffee and small cozy room while you wait for your vehicle. If you are a Berkeley resident or needing a quick patch, this place should be your first and only stop.

Came in for a tire repair. Great customer service and fast, too. But $30 for a tire repair caused by a nail puncture is just rip-off.

They were cheap and fast, but for a reason. Gave me 4 different brand and wear tires for a 4WD car. I was unaware that is unacceptable and eats transmissions. Would rather they told me I had to spend more on a full set, than take my money and send me away with a future issue

Great experience changing tires for reasonable pricing and super efficient. Which is exactly what you need when you have a flat and life is waiting for you. Four used but in great shape tires cost less than one new tire at Costco. Also returned to patch a tire with a nail in it and it was also super reasonable. I will probably keep coming back here forever until I move or something

I came to Universal Tires on Monday because my front left tire was leaking air pretty bad. I was told by a very nice fellow that I didn’t only need to replace that tire, but all four tires since the tread was really worn and it was unsafe to drive on them. He was right, and I’m glad he told me. Got 4 used tires for $270, which is a good price! I left satisfied. Between Monday and Friday, bizarrely, my front left tire pressure continued to drop quickly. I can’t make sense of this, so I made it back on Friday and was met by a different, distracted, and borderline rude guy at the desk. He gave my tire a 0.5 second glance and told me sorry, I have another nail in my tire. I don’t know how he would have known there was a nail in the tire without inspecting it first. This seemed unusual to me - especially since I bought that tire used. Not much I could do, so I paid them $30 to patch it (which is also strange, because looking at other reviews, some paid $25.) Overall, the whole thing felt weird and vaguely dishonest.

I normally don't do too many tire shops. I caught a flat tire 5 minutes before the tire shop closed. I called the guy. He said they were closing to come back tomorrow. He heard my story. I was 4 minutes away. Told me to come by it took like an hour extra after they closed to fix my tire. These guys are great. I recommend these guys. They did not give up on me even though they have to go home and travel To their house perfect example of taking care of the customer, they were really fair with the price. And they took a long time to try to help me and they did help me. I wish I had money to get these guys A $100 each for a tip. Lord knows they deserve it. I just want to say thank you. I am a customer for life. I will refer more customers. I'm the guy with the grey Tacoma with the flat tires. I will be returning with the tip for sure.

These guys are AMAZING. Reasonably priced, and TRUSTWORTHY. My front passenger tire blew on the way home from the airport. Pulled in and didn't have a very long wait. Paid $65 for a used (looks almost new) tire and went on my way. That's where the fun started. I forgot my debit card and traveled all the way home (about 40 minutes) before I realized it. I wasn't able to get back over there for two days, so they were kind enough to put my card in their safe until I could get back. What an incredible relief to still have honest people in the world. I needed to replace all my tires and wanted a place that I could trust, so when I came back to get my card, that's what I did.

Zero Stars for my experience at this shop. I needed new shocks and struts installed in my 2015 Transit van. When I picked up my van after the install, I heard a grinding noise from underneath the vehicle. The installer had twisted a bracket that holds brake connectors outwards and then installed the wheel - the bracket had eaten a deep groove into the inside sidewall of my front tire. Went back to complain and they installed a used tire of a different brand to replace my tire - now I have 2 different front tires, that's not optimal..... Also the tire had a leak, so I went back again and they then put a plug into the hole. I was not impressed with that. Furthermore when I picked up my van the first time, I noticed my steering wheel was off-center by about 10 degrees to the left. I was told "no problem, we'll install a new tire and re-align it". After that, my steering wheel was off-center 10 degrees to the right, so I took the vehicle to another shop where the mechanic put my van on the alignment rack and found the tie rods had not been tightened and he could unscrew the locknuts by hand - I feel glad to be alive today, because that could have literally killed me. Finally, I hear clunking noises from the undercarriage since the shocks/struts were installed at Universal Tires. I will have to take the van to another shop one more time now to get a more thorough safety check. I went back to Universal and told them about all the problems I had with their work, and they told me the owner would call me - he never did. If I were you, I'd avoid that place at all costs.

Absolutely blown away by Universal Pro Tires! I originally went in just to get cross bars installed on my car, but I left seriously impressed by how versatile, straightforward, and efficient their service is. These guys don’t just handle tires (to my surprise!) they really know cars inside and out. The team was super friendly, knowledgeable, and wasted no time getting the job done right. They explained everything clearly without overselling or upselling, which I appreciate because it’s hard to come across an honest/ transparent shop these days.
