Brought in car for single cylinder misfire. They tried charging me $700 for a spark plug replacement kit / tune up Huge red flag. They also don’t accept calls, they only communicate over text (despite there being someone at the front desk) Another red flag. Avoid this place if possible and find a reliable mechanic!

I popped in for a state inspection and they kindly worked me into their busy schedule. While there I was discussing some work that I did myself to avoid paying so much to a dealer. The gentlemen checked his computer and gave me a price that was 75% less than the dealer, and very competitive with other shops that I spoke with. I will definitely be taking my car back when I have work to be done. These guys are very friendly and truly a class act.

My heat stopped working, and I made the mistake of taking it to a dealer. The dealer told me my actuator needed to be replaced, quoted me $2,900, and tried to sell me a new car. I looked it up, and an actuator costs around $50-100. I then took it to Value Auto Clinic and they quickly replaced the actuator for $175. Needless to say, I’ll be going to Value Auto Clinic for all my car needs in the future and have already recommended them to other people.

I honestly could not have asked for a better shop with more competent mechanics. I moved to KC in the Spring and I've had a hard time finding a reliable, honest shop. They're honest, quick and affordable. They also know what they're doing. They do anything from late models to classics.

If you are someone who has never really had to take care of a car and if the mechanic really stresses you out, I HIGHLY recommend this place. I took my car back to my hometown in Texas to get serviced for two years because I was so nervous to find a new mechanic. I finally had to bite the bullet when my car started smoking and feel like I could not have gotten luckier. They have never done anything to my car before explaining what was going on with it and naming the price; there have been several times that my bill ended up being less expensive than what they originally quoted. I tell everyone I know to use this place!

I love going to Value Auto Clinic. I love being able to simply text them to schedule an appointment, get updates on my car, and they can easily ask me questions. I'm always greeted by a friendly employee and feel welcomed. One thing that stands out to me is that the last time I went in they were able to finally get my low tire pressure light off. I've had this car forever and no matter what I did I couldn't get it to stay off. Also, recently when I went in they fixed a rattle from my exhaust I've been having for awhile! I didn't mention it to them and they didn't mention it to me, but when I got back home I noticed it was fixed! It was a super minor fix, but I really appreciated them doing that. I highly recommend them for any car services!

Great place! Took my car and had constant updates on its condition. Would definitely recommend it. (pricing seems about average)

I previously gave this place a good review. Things have changed. I recently scheduled an important maintenance with them. I have been going there for at least six years. But recently their service has gotten worse. They don’t answer phones and you have to text everything. After scheduling my maintenance a week out, they postponed it another week at the last minute. Then a week later they postponed it again. I could tell they didn’t want to do the work. So I found a place that had the same price but handles their customers professionally. They no longer have to worry about working on my cars. I no longer will recommend them to my family and friends.

Value is the only auto clinic that I will go to in KC. If I do happen to go elsewhere, I'm immediately reminded why they're the best in the business. Amazing service, tons of respect for their customers and their time and money. They'll give it to you straight and you'll be in and out in no time. 10/5 stars.

3 strikes, you're out. Loyalty should pay but it doesn't. 3 times now these guys have caused bigger i$$u$e$. 1st time, brought in a truck we had bought that needed major work, told them this which included taking the engine apart layer by layer. Not knowing how deep we/I had hoped not entirely but said its over all condition was the utmost importance. After they put it back together I was told deeper into the engine work was still needed. So why did you put it back together??? Now they wanted to charge me hundreds to take it apart, again. 2nd time. I needed exhaust work, told them exactly what I thought it was. Took it in, they confirmed I was correct but that they didn't do exhaust work :-( and he STILL charged me " I have to charge you something" Jared said, maybe so but you should have also said you couldn't do the work. 3RD STRIKE,,, cost me a different truck entirely. Ford trucks shifting handles often become lose, a simple fix, YouTubed it. The shifting handle was always a little lose but after I took it in because the abs pump wouldn't shut off when it came back I could barely get it into the proper gear it was now lose and broken, the gears popping in and out, was that the cause or the fact to fix the pump instead of replacing it disconnecting it was suggested, ok I said, but they did this not knowing how their solution taking out a fuse might effect other systems. These idiots are so tough on your vehicle taking it there had become only when absolutely necessary. Told Jarred about the eventual outcome and he's ignored me. I was to bring it back for more abuse/work but before I did the shifting gears issue which was not a problem AT ALL before caused the demise of the transmission, I had to sell it for salvage. Everyone makes mistakes, Jared can't accept the fact nor be responsible for those errors. It's not easy to run a business having to hire workers and rely on them but you are still responsible... or should be. Really hate that I can't give you 5 stars, many businesses I go to get them. No Value Auto Clinic.

As a Union Hill resident for almost 10 years, I cannot express enough how much Value Auto Clinic lives up to its name. Yes, value in the sense of money well spent, but to have a trustworthy, knowledgeable, unpretentious, auto mechanic within walking distance of where I live makes our neighborhood that much more valuable. Thank you for being such a reliable resource to my family and our neighborhood. Union Hill and surrounding neighborhoods, this is your place for all your car needs.

Excellent Hometown Auto Repair! Highly recommended by my former auto mechanic, who retired, these guys did not disappoint. They figured out exactly what my car needed, and didn't pad the bill with unnecessary extras. As a woman, I am aware of the potential for being scammed in this situation, but they were knowledgeable, professional, honest, and friendly. I'm so relieved to have found a new auto repair shop I can trust!

Jared and his team are great. I go here for regular maintenance as well as auto repair work. They're quick to respond, do work in a timely manner and their prices are more than fair. I've never felt taken advantage of here. Highly recommend.

We are newcomers to this gem, but couldn’t be happier. I drive a 2015 Outback and was having issues with major oil leaks in multiple places in the engine. Dealer quoted us $10-12k in repairs so we started to research new cars since it wouldn’t have been worth it to put that amount of money into this one. Got a second opinion from Value Auto Clinic and ended up only spending $2k for the same repair. It’s now been 4 months and I just made it to the “prescribed” timeframe for an oil change - this hasn’t happened in MONTHS. Value said everything looks good from the leak side of things. Saved us thousands on repairs and from having to go buy a new car sooner than we wanted. They also got my husband’s car in quickly for repairs when it had an issue immediately after mine this spring. To top it off, the owner remembered a conversation about a big project my husband had been working on and remembered to ask me about it 4 months later. They are easy to communicate with, honest, and so easy to work with. We will never take our cars elsewhere.

I had a great experience! I called in the morning to see if it was possible to get my car in for a state inspection. I was told I could drop it off anytime. I was not expecting them to get to it so quickly since i never made an appointment, but they got it done within an hour of me dropping it off! Amazing service!

We didn't actually have any work done here and I'll tell you why. We live near St. Louis and our daughter is attending UMKC. A few days ago, she blew out a tire right near this shop and pulled into their parking lot late at night. The next day, we tried contacting this place as soon as they opened at 7am. After calling several times with no answer, we read that they only do business through text messages. I'm sorry, there is never a time when texting about a request like this is convenient, especially when we are 3 hours away trying to help our daughter. We finally get a response and request a quote to replace all 4 tires because she needed new ones anyway. After a little back and forth, we get a quote that was way higher than we felt necessary and knew we could do much better. If they would have just answered the phone, we could have asked more questions and had a response much faster than the 30 minutes it took us going back and forth. In the end, I drove 3 hours to bring the spare key and meet with a tow truck driver since our daughter was in class and had an exam that day. We had her car towed elsewhere and replaced all 4 tires for $200 less than what this place quoted us. If they can't even bother to pick up the phone and speak to us for a few minutes and quote us way more than what is necessary then they don't deserve our business.

Used to be my go-to shop, but I'll be finding a new auto service provider. They replaced my front break pads and rotors and I've been hearing a terrible squeak ever since. I've taken it in for other service 2-3x since them - they replaced one brake rotor that was under warranty. But the loud squeaking persisted. They claim they don't notice it - but it's impossible not to. They asked if I was only hearing the squeak the first couple of times I brake after it sits overnight. I replied no - and clarified that it happens all the time and reminded them that I've asked about this the past 2 times I've brought it in. No response. So - since I've been ghosted - I'll be moving on!

I tried to get my car in a little over a week before Thanksgiving to replace some fuel hoses, check brakes, and check engine light. they did a diagnostic, but held onto it without doing anything to it until the day before Thanksgiving. They let me pick it up at that point, which was helpful, but it still needed all the work done. I took it back the following Monday and they did the brakes, but weren't getting parts for the rest until a few days later. They let me pick it up the next day, paid about $2,000 waited a few days and then meant to take it back the following week for the rest once the parts came in, but the car died and wouldn't start. I had to have it towed there the next Tuesday. Once they fixed those issues, I got it back the next day and the check engine light came on. noticed issues with brakes and otherwise, I took it back that friday morning, and got it back that evening. I've had it since, and started noticing some loud knocking coming from the undercarriage. I think the rear brakes are too tight, because those wheels are locking up when I go in reverse. I've had this car for a few years now, and it's been running pretty well since, other than in 2023 when I replaced the transmission with one that was remanufactured. This has been a pretty awful experience with a shop. I think they overpromise a lot, at least that's what they've done with me. If anyone knows of a shop that has a better intuition for diagnosing and repairing issues with a 1997 Ford F150 4.2 L, I'd love to know, because I'm not having much luck.
