On 9/18/2025, I took my 2010 Honda Odyssey to Julio of Av Smog Center for a check engine light issue (codes P0141 and P0161) after replacing four oxygen sensors I bought on Amazon. Julio was initially polite, charging $120 for diagnostics and promising to call with repair costs. At 12:10 PM, he said the sensors were correct for the model but not California-compliant, quoting $480 for repairs. I found it expensive, so he offered to “salvage” my old sensors to lower costs. By 4:12 PM, after no updates, I called, and Julio said the car was “complicated” without explaining. He offered a smog check included, which I agreed to without confirming the price (my mistake). At 5 PM, he raised the price to $570, claiming the car was a “headache,” then reduced it to $550 after I complained. I paid, needing the van for my family, believing it was fixed with a smog check. On 9/19/2025, driving to the DMV, the check engine light returned with the same codes. Julio claimed they couldn’t salvage the sensors and I’d need new ones, despite charging me $550 for no real fix. I feel cheated; they likely didn’t replace parts and provided a questionable smog check. I suspect they took advantage of my trust and lack of mechanical knowledge. I advise caution: watch them work, verify parts, and don’t trust their initial kindness. They didn’t apologize or offer to fix their shoddy work, insisting it was “professional.” I’d never return and don’t recommend this shop. Be vigilant—they may exploit trusting customers.
