Do not trust this shop. I was charged four hours for what was estimated at two hours. I was waiting for the job SEVEN hours. He said it would be done in three hours. I learned afterward that if he had the required tool which he could have borrowed from the factory rep it would take less than 30 minutes. That rep came to my house and made an adjustment to the installation in 5 minutes with the tool. Sam used straps, prybars and jacks. He then fiddled around until he discovered a way to make that junk work. He did not have a clue or even reach out to the factory or net for help. Sam could never work in a real shop. The shop rate is among the highest I have seen in 50 years and is unjustified except as a rip off shop. I've known 18 year olds that are better auto mechanics.

Could not be more pleased with the auto service and customer care. Struggled with my 21 ft diesel motor home for several months. Intermittent no crank, no start. Could not predict when it would start and when not. Very inconvenient and frustrating especially when we were at unfamiliar locations on our cross country trip. Would turn the key and no dash lights would appear. Battery voltage sometimes was 12.8 and sometimes 0.6. In addition, the needles of the dashboard gauges i.e. speedometer, etc. would flicker like crazy when the key was removed from the ignition at those times when the engine would start with aid of battery boost switch. Bizarre!!! checked all fuses and contacts to the best of my limited ability and consulted several mechanics along the way which met with puzzling responses. I was really doubtful that the problem could be solved. Well, Sam, the owner, figured out the problem and I got a call back about 2 hours after dropping it off in his shop. No extra parts needed and fair price for the solution to the problem. The van has started every time I have attempted. My confidence in the machine has been restored! Sam is an awesome auto and truck repair Professor. To describe him as a “mechanic” does not do him justice. His shop is immaculate and it looks to me that he serviced 4 large RV’s that particular day. I would refer anyone with any type of auto or truck issue to the Automotive Maintenance Machine.

Came in for a pre purchase inspection. Sam helped me out with a thorough and relatively cheap job. He didn't just tell me what was wrong with the car, but he actually showed me, explained how some problems could affect me in the future, and gave me some estimates of what I should expect. I ended up buying the car and used some of those estimates to help negotiate the price. It's a little sad that some people won't find this place straight from googling "Pleasant hill auto mechanics" because it doesn't show up. For the people who do see it, I recommend this shop.

As a previous owner of a motorcycle repair shop I am always looking and hoping for shops that just do it right. They first and foremost do the job correctly, do it expeditiously, and fairly. Even though it took me 4 hours and $45 in gas to have Sam do a 30 minute job that I could have done locally, I went to him. He is an honest mechanic that I will refer others to. Sam keep up the good work and thank you for keeping mechanics an honest profession!

I highly recommend this honest small business! Automotive Maintenance Machine is a one-man operation run by a gentleman named Sam. Sam is friendly, knowledgeable on automotive repair, honest, and displays complete transparency with customers regarding vehicle issues. I came with an issue pertaining to my power steering, which thankfully ended up being a false alarm. A previous mechanic told me that my car needed rear shocks. Sam was able to physically show me that I was being led on by a dishonest mechanic. Based on my experience here, I plan on having both of my vehicles serviced here regularly.

I have no hesitation in recommending Sam as your go to mechanic. He's worked on 5 of my vehicles and I've been happy with his results. He will explain your options to you so you can make an informed decision on cost. One vehicle lost a timing chain. It was old and tired. Instead of just giving me an estimate for repair, he recommended junking it because the cost of repair was more than the value of the vehicle. Trust and honesty is everything.
