I replaced the rotors and brakes on my car for about $23 in tool and bay rental fees. My parts I ordered off the internet for half the price. Saved myself a bunch of money. These guys are super nice and helpful.

This place is a legitimate full auto shop with car lifts and full sets of tools. They have the equipment to handle pretty much any vehicle project for almost free (around $6/hr). Just stop by, rent tools and a lift, and fix your car. If you have the skill or will to learn, then it's that simple. Get there a little early or call ahead. The staff is a little rough around the edges, but that's expected in the auto repair industry, and on a military base. For the most part, they're all friendly and helpful, and will help you with your project if you need it. Would go again.

Used the facility for many years and it keeps getting better every year. My son and I have done major work to his SUV. The staff is invaluably helpful as we groped through several suspension fixes and fought the 20 year old exhaust for replacement. Not easy step by step stuff, they guided with deep knowledge and experience of solving problems that occur on old vehicles challenges when systems finally fail. We would not have been able to complete the work we have and save the $$ we have without the fine technicians at the shop. Again, the people are outstanding, the facility is better than ever, and the prices are absolutely right. You will not find a better value if you can do the work yourself...with the help of the excellent staff!

I have taken five of my cars/trucks to the MWR and the work is first-class. The MWR team is cost focused and will not “take advantage” of you.

My favorite place! Great staff and super knowledgeable. Whenever I need to work on my vehicle, I can always rely on this place. They even offer services to work on your car for you, like a regular auto shop. Have a vehicle stored there now in their storage lot 😊

Excellent place to self-service your own car, or to bring in your car for repair by the mechanics. On-site mechanics with ASE certifications to give you pro tips on how to repair your own vehicle. Remember, you MUST take a safety class before using this facility to fix your own car. Call for details on times and dates available. Certificate lasts a lifetime so no need to retake. Bay rental is $8/hr and this includes all the tools you'll need (highly probability) from the tool room. Lifts are $12 an hour. Auto storage too. Car wash by the PX and Commissary. Years of interacting with this facility. Kate has made a lot of positive changes and cleaned up the building. Merritt has his ASE's and is talented and pleasant to work with. Josh is a pleasure to deal with as well and a fountain of knowledge. Great customer service. They book out for weeks at a time for mechanics to repair your car.... So call early. Labor rate is only $90 currently. Call for more info.

Awesome place for the DIY’er. They also work on vehicles for people with no experience. The manager is awesome. She’s very helpful, and professional. Always get great customer service when dealing with her. The staff are great as well. Always around to lend a hand, or give advice. Out of all the auto craft shops I’ve used in my military career the Redstone location is by far the best in my opinion. Try it if you haven’t already!!!

This is a great service for do it yourself mechanics, reasonable prices to perform general maintenance on your vehicle. Friendly, helpful staff, and plenty of tools to get most work done. They have detailing and more advanced repairs available, performed by in house technicians. This is definitely one of the great perks that the Redstone MWR offers authorized users.

I've used Automotive Skills Centers from all over the country at multiple installations and this is by far the best! The staff at this facility is exceptional. Josh, Shawn, and Merrit are always very helpful and have provided me with superb tips and recommendations during multiple projects that I've tackled on my 2500 Dodge Ram truck. They have just about everything you could need for any type of job. The shop is very cleaned and well-maintained. Josh-thanks for helping me get that front passenger coil properly set in place. I can't say enough good things about this team and the facility they operate. I'm extremely grateful that we have a place like this on Redstone.

Well my recent experience was not as good as I’d hoped. The place and some of the equipment suffers from neglect. The sand blast booth should be repaired or removed. The viewing glass is old, damaged, and difficult to see through. It needs replaced. The lighting is poor- only one end works- it’s just a light bulb- replace it. The sand feed clogs frequently and you’re just spraying your rust with air, so you must stop and address that. Then after trying to see through the crazed glass and dim light as to what progress you’ve made, you give up, stop, open the door, remove the piece you’re working on, examine it, identify what still needs to be done, put it back in, and try to find those areas and blast them, all while continuing to stop and fix the clogged sand feed. And you’re being charged a dollar per minute. The parts washer looks new, but the cleaning fluid doesn’t do anything more than soapy water would. It must be environmentally friendly cleaner, which means it’s ineffective at removing grease or oil. I understand there’s probably not much they can do about that. So I ended up digging out the crud from the crevices of my part with a tool and rinsing my part with their cleaner- and I had to wander around the place for several minutes looking for someone to issue me a tool- all while I’m on the clock for a dollar a minute on the parts cleaner. To their credit I was given a few dollars off the price for my trouble but that may or may not happen to you. A last note- I realize it’s a work shop but the men’s room was just filthy, and there were only two or three customers there the entire time I was. It was obvious it hadn’t been cleaned from the previous business day.

Super nice place to work on your car or get work done on your car. They have pretty much every tool that you’ll need (minus the specialized service-specific stuff). Great prices on their services and they’re always there if you need help.

Can't beat the MWR Auto Craft Shop if you need to save a buck by changing your own oil, or brakes, or something more serious. $24 got me a lift bay for 2 hours while I replaced the front brake pads on my truck. You get to use an entire standing toolbox for your maintenance job, to include an air impact wrench to remove tire lugnuts. Bring your own rubber gloves. They can assist with any maintenance job questions.
