Have been to Joe's couple times now, he is very experienced, professional and friendly. He tells you what the problem is and how much will it take to fix it and let you decide if you want to fix it or not. I know he also do repairs for the university's vehicles for many years so that tells something. An experienced, trustworthy, wont rip you off mechanic in the area.

Joe is knowledgeable, professional, honest, and kind. You can rely on him telling you what is necessary to do for the car, what is a nice-to-have, what can wait and what cannot. I switched to him after bad experiences with other car repair businesses in town, and have been using his services for about 3 years on a regular basis and can't recommend him highly enough. Despite the name, the service here is far above average! I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Joe is incredibly professional, punctual, honest, and kind. I took my car in for a bumper cover replacement, and he went above and beyond. He even fixed a persistent rumble that other shops couldn't find the cause of! He was also very conscious of my budget and worked to keep costs down as much as possible. Average Joe Auto Repair is the only shop I'll be taking my car to from now on.

If I could give 6 stars I would, Joe is very knowledgeable, professional, easy going, kind, as well as very easy to get along with and understand. Joe is the ONLY mechanic in town shop wise that has dealership grade experience and uses only OEM parts on your vehicle at the best possible price he can give. He will go over every possible option with you to try and save you the most money he can so you’re not left stranded on spending $1-3k on a repair bill.

I took my car in because of loud noise while driving on the highway. I thought it was a pulley issue, but after checking, the mechanic explained it was the hub bearing and fixed it. Now the noise is gone, and he also told me the engine isn't in great shape, but nothing to worry about yet. I was feeling my clutch has some issues and would fail during my upcoming trip to California. Joe patiently listened to the symptoms I had experienced and test drove the car. He told me the clutch was fine, putting honesty above anything else. Other mechanics had told me I should definitely change the clutch. Clutch is still running fine as Joe diagnosed it. Besides that, the potential quote he gave me was a couple of hundreds cheaper than elsewhere. He's got the ethics, experience, and knowledge to take care of your car. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Joe is extremely professional and honest about what your car needs and won’t charge you for unnecessary things like most places. And if a repair is not truly needed yet, he will take the time and effort to explain it in detail, instead of just handing you a thousands of dollars estimate like most places. He’ll even show you what’s wrong with your car (dirty filter etc) and treats each interaction like a teaching experience to increase your car knowledge. Most honest mechanic I’ve found in Champaign and/or Chicago area. 100% recommend

I had the best mechanic experience I've had to date with Average Joe Auto Repair. I can't recommend Joe enough. He is a honest, fair price individual, which unfortunately, seems to be hard to find in the car mechanic world these days. My car was shaking and rattling due to needing motor mounts replaced. Joe fixed the issue and my car has been driving smooth since.
