Bob's Carbs is a family-owned shop on Morse St across from Primo's Market (in the same lot as Ghetto Choppers & LSI Automotive) at corner of Coast Highway 101 & Morse St in Oceanside. The statement "family owned" doesn't seem to mean much at most places anymore. But it means something at Bob's. This is the kind of honest and experienced neighborhood shop you always pictured (aka hoped) you'd find. I have never been at a shop that I could say I trust, let alone recommend, until finding Bob's Carbs. Bob's is just good people. I live 2 blocks away from Bob's and have frequented Primo's for the last 2 years. I thought Bob's Carbs only did "carburators" (a mechanic's mechanic). But they do so much more... If you're local, you've probably noticed an impressive gathering of vintage and prime-condition collectible vehicles in the garage at Bob's. People keep bringing them per word of mouth (i.e. early Broncos & Mustangs... El Caminos... I saw a prime specimen of a Corvette Stingray there today.) As I disclaimer here, I should state that I think they favor American makes–not sure if they do foreign. This shop will be a pleasant change for you if you're always left wondering whether or not the problem was solved. Or, "Did I really need that part??" And possibly most important to your pocket book and even safety,"WAS IT DONE RIGHT???" These are all questions I've had or have had to experience the unfortunate answers to many times. Bring your car by Bob's and FUHGEDDABOUDIT. Mitch (Bob's son) runs the shop but you'll find Bob there most days also. There are several amazing knowledgable mechanics–like Rich who serviced my Bronco: "type A"–knows exactly what he's doing, both fast AND meticulous. I have enjoyed being able to also speak directly with the mechanic doing the work. For me, this feels very important. Everyone at Bob's seems obviously happy which I feel is directly related to how well your vehicle turns out. Directly. I have never been inspired by, nor trusted, any shop in order to even bother writing a review (though definitely have considered writing negative ones) based on recent experiences. Bob's delivers when they say they're going to deliver. In my recent case, during the original procedure, additional repair work was found to be necessary (which was explained and I visually verified while my car was up on the rack) and completed in the same time-frame quoted for just the original procedure. Within my short 2 years in Oceanside, I've had 2 bad experiences with local shops that each took over a week (10 days even!). I feel like they both earned it, so I don't mind mentioning them: Bill's Automotive & North County Auto. Both had "4 & 5 star" reviews on Yelp! when I saw them. But they don't now. I just had to have Bob's redo $350 of Bill's work... I would probably have to say that the worst thing that happened at both Bill's & N County Auto was that I felt like I was the a** having to call them every 2 days and beg for a status update, constantly waiting to find out when I would be able to get my car back. N. County was not entirely sure what the problem was and seemed to have pushed it to the back of the lot and then told me that "time was money..." No one should have to feel that way. And I don't anymore. I just go over to Bob's and don't spend any money at either of those shops. We're done. I feel like I can't say enough good things about Bob's. Don't be afraid to give them a call next time you need service.

BOBS CARB !!! Absolutely recommend their services for old/new make models. I took in my 78 Chevy c20, good ole 350 engine. I had them install new radiator, carburetor, water pump, after market radiator cooling fans, after-market mechanical gauges, tune-up!!! My truck has had smooth driving from here to 29 Palms and back, because of the great service done to my truck by Dennis and Mitch. I trust BOBS Carb for their honest evaluations of my vehicles, only do what's needed, and as a Christian, that's what I value in supporting local businesses.

After taking my 84 Chevy Silverado truck to practically every mechanic in Escondido and Vista, no mechanic was able to get my truck to pass smog. Feeling hopeless, lost, and very frustrated, I began to believe that great mechanics no longer existed until I took my vehicle to Bob's Carbs. Mitch and his crew were very friendly and said they would take a look at the truck. They adjusted the carburetor, and also came to the conclusion that my truck needed a new catalytic converter. Since they don't work on cats, he was very nice to refer me to Warners Mufflers who did a spectacular job in putting on a new catalytic converter. Mitch asked me to return so that he could finish repairs on the truck, and he got it to pass smog!!! Mitch and his crew went beyond my expectations. He pointed out other issues he came across while test driving, and had them fixed in a very timely manner and at very reasonable prices. If anyone out there is in need of great mechanics that are trustworthy, Bob's Carbs is the place you should take your vehicle to.
