Bob's Carbs is a family-owned shop on Morse St across from Primo's Market (in the same lot as Ghetto Choppers & LSI Automotive) at corner of Coast Highway 101 & Morse St in Oceanside. The statement "family owned" doesn't seem to mean much at most places anymore. But it means something at Bob's. This is the kind of honest and experienced neighborhood shop you always pictured (aka hoped) you'd find. I have never been at a shop that I could say I trust, let alone recommend, until finding Bob's Carbs. Bob's is just good people. I live 2 blocks away from Bob's and have frequented Primo's for the last 2 years. I thought Bob's Carbs only did "carburators" (a mechanic's mechanic). But they do so much more... If you're local, you've probably noticed an impressive gathering of vintage and prime-condition collectible vehicles in the garage at Bob's. People keep bringing them per word of mouth (i.e. early Broncos & Mustangs... El Caminos... I saw a prime specimen of a Corvette Stingray there today.) As I disclaimer here, I should state that I think they favor American makes–not sure if they do foreign. This shop will be a pleasant change for you if you're always left wondering whether or not the problem was solved. Or, "Did I really need that part??" And possibly most important to your pocket book and even safety,"WAS IT DONE RIGHT???" These are all questions I've had or have had to experience the unfortunate answers to many times. Bring your car by Bob's and FUHGEDDABOUDIT. Mitch (Bob's son) runs the shop but you'll find Bob there most days also. There are several amazing knowledgable mechanics–like Rich who serviced my Bronco: "type A"–knows exactly what he's doing, both fast AND meticulous. I have enjoyed being able to also speak directly with the mechanic doing the work. For me, this feels very important. Everyone at Bob's seems obviously happy which I feel is directly related to how well your vehicle turns out. Directly. I have never been inspired by, nor trusted, any shop in order to even bother writing a review (though definitely have considered writing negative ones) based on recent experiences. Bob's delivers when they say they're going to deliver. In my recent case, during the original procedure, additional repair work was found to be necessary (which was explained and I visually verified while my car was up on the rack) and completed in the same time-frame quoted for just the original procedure. Within my short 2 years in Oceanside, I've had 2 bad experiences with local shops that each took over a week (10 days even!). I feel like they both earned it, so I don't mind mentioning them: Bill's Automotive & North County Auto. Both had "4 & 5 star" reviews on Yelp! when I saw them. But they don't now. I just had to have Bob's redo $350 of Bill's work... I would probably have to say that the worst thing that happened at both Bill's & N County Auto was that I felt like I was the a** having to call them every 2 days and beg for a status update, constantly waiting to find out when I would be able to get my car back. N. County was not entirely sure what the problem was and seemed to have pushed it to the back of the lot and then told me that "time was money..." No one should have to feel that way. And I don't anymore. I just go over to Bob's and don't spend any money at either of those shops. We're done. I feel like I can't say enough good things about Bob's. Don't be afraid to give them a call next time you need service.

BOBS CARB !!! Absolutely recommend their services for old/new make models. I took in my 78 Chevy c20, good ole 350 engine. I had them install new radiator, carburetor, water pump, after market radiator cooling fans, after-market mechanical gauges, tune-up!!! My truck has had smooth driving from here to 29 Palms and back, because of the great service done to my truck by Dennis and Mitch. I trust BOBS Carb for their honest evaluations of my vehicles, only do what's needed, and as a Christian, that's what I value in supporting local businesses.

After taking my 84 Chevy Silverado truck to practically every mechanic in Escondido and Vista, no mechanic was able to get my truck to pass smog. Feeling hopeless, lost, and very frustrated, I began to believe that great mechanics no longer existed until I took my vehicle to Bob's Carbs. Mitch and his crew were very friendly and said they would take a look at the truck. They adjusted the carburetor, and also came to the conclusion that my truck needed a new catalytic converter. Since they don't work on cats, he was very nice to refer me to Warners Mufflers who did a spectacular job in putting on a new catalytic converter. Mitch asked me to return so that he could finish repairs on the truck, and he got it to pass smog!!! Mitch and his crew went beyond my expectations. He pointed out other issues he came across while test driving, and had them fixed in a very timely manner and at very reasonable prices. If anyone out there is in need of great mechanics that are trustworthy, Bob's Carbs is the place you should take your vehicle to.

Brought in my '68 F250 truck (with a camper on it) and Mitch and his crew got it ready to roll over 800+ miles safely to Oregon. No more stalling in idle, hesitation on starting and fires up on the first twist of the key. They did some work on my gauges, oil change and hoses and belt replacement, all perfect. Excellent work by friendly folks. Truck ran like a champ. Thanks for the great work!

What a shock. Even though I did not purchase anything. Bob's took the time to answer my questions and gave me recommendations as to what and how I could repair my problem. With following his suggestions, I completed the repair and it worked just as he had said. He saved me over $500. If you ever need carburetor repair I highly recommend Bob's Carb repair.

I called Bob's carb shop and experienced the rudest shopping conversation in my 45plus years of life. Asking how much a carb rebuild would be after I had completed about 75% of the work, I was asked whose rebuild kit did I use. Answering the question I was immediately told with no kindness of speech "the kit I bought doesnt work to rebuild my carb. I need to buy one that is $140 from an unnamed auto parts store." And furthermore, "If I couldn't afford the $140 for the kit, I certainly won't be able to afford how much I would charge you to rebuild it." AND "I should probably go buy a new carburator." And my quotations are exact. The parts store sold me the rebuild kit for $40 + tax. Sorry Mitch, you will not be getting my business EVER.

Mitch and his team have worked on my car a few times. And our other cars too. Fixed a window that stopped rolling up. Replaced spark plugs. That are currently working on brake upgrade/replacement on our 1958 classic.

I am writing this review on behalf of my dad. My dad has come here for 25+ years and is always satisfied with the service he receives. He enjoys coming to Bob’s so much that he makes the drive from Las Vegas whenever there is an issue with his car. If you are looking for a reliable, knowledgeable and friendly shop, Bob’s is the place!

This is the second time I visited, Bobs, and the second time I left extremely satisfied and impressed with their professionalism and honesty. While I was waiting, I heard the Manager calling a customer saying the quote was too high, and the amount was lower than anticipated; this is not the first time I heard a call like that in their waiting area. I've never heard this at a shop, let alone twice in 2 visits. If you are looking for a reliable and honest mechanic, then I highly recommend Bob's Carbs.

My check engine light came on over the weekend and I wasn't sure what was going on with my car. I took my car into Bob's Carbs and was immediately help by Mitch. They not only told me about the code but how they could handle the problem. I was impressed with how quickly they made the repairs, how nice they all were and how informed they kept me of the process. A truly trustworthy place. I've found a new place to take my car for all future services needed.

Mitch comes from a long family history of auto mechanics. His knowledge of auto repair is second to none. My parents have been going to this business for almost 30 years dating back to when Mitch's Father owned the place. We recently had our Hyundai Sonata serviced. We were going to be ripped off by the dealer for our maintenance issues. Mitch's analysis showed that only certain work needed to be done. He's extremely honest, polite, and professional. The prices are very fair as well. Please support this outstanding local business, and tell 10 of your friends.

Finding someone to work on a tri-power 67 Corvette carburetor in San Diego these days isn't easy. Most of those with experience are either retired or dead. Except Mitch at Bob's. I had a issue with a leaking carb. He had me buy the rebuild kit and once it arrived, we set a time to meet. He told me it would take 30 minutes. He was wrong. It was actually 22 including twice having to leave the desk for parts or tools. If you need help with your carb, give Mitch a call. You won't be sorry.

Bob's has taken very good care of me and my classic. After a half dozen carburetor rebuilds by as many mechanics.... who never got it right.... I was unbearably frustrated. Bob's was the miracle worker. It now purrs and runs great. Reliable vs getting me stranded all of the time. I highly recommend this shop.

Mitch and his team at Bob's Carbs are honest, polite, and very knowledgeable. Tired of dealing with a high-priced dealership, I took my 2011 Nissan Rogue to Bob's Carbs a few years ago. I have since used Bob's Carbs for everything on this car, including regular maintenance and some issues that recently came up with the CV joints. During this last visit, regarding the CV joints, Mitch explained to me very clearly what the issue was and gave me some options as well as his expert recommendation. The issue was fixed and Bob's Carbs got me rolling again. I highly recommend Mitch and his team at Bob's Carbs!

These guys are great! They are honest and will tell you exactly what must be done vs nice to haves. As a woman I really value their openness and honesty. They're reasonably priced and if you pay in cash its cheaper. 10/10 recommend.

Had what appeared to be a rather large coolant leak, they diagnosed it within a couple hours, maybe less, worked out my quote, Great price, and very good repair time, as they knew how important my vehicle is to me. They replaced the intake manifold, and the radiator hoses, added new coolant, leaks gone. The best of service, very friendly, and compassionate with me. Thank you Mitchell, Dennis, and Blake, you guys are amazing. Thank you Phillip

Called Bob's carburetor repair. I explained my problem after rebuilding my own carburetor. Explained how the engine would idle for a few seconds then die. His first response was I had a vacuum leak past the carb. Suggested a couple options. I found the vacuum leak and the engine sounds great and idles properly. No charge.
