Great to have a local yarn shop where I can stop in and be inspired. Knitting, crochet, embroidery, and various types of weaving - the store serves many types of crafts.

Very helpful employees! Went in to buy a gift for a knitter (knowing nothing myself) and the employees were very patient and informative, guiding me towards the right gift within my budget. Great quality goods.

Terrible customer service. In every conceivable way: both in person and over text. Wow. Crummy shop. The selection isn't even worth it.### Their response is a flat out lie. Wow. Wow. Wow. I was only inside the shop one time and no one asked me anything, much less to not come back.

This is a pretty store that sells specialty expensive yarns. I kinda wanted to purchase some but honestly I just looked around and left quickly because I did not feel welcome in this store. I can buy Berroco yarn online. No one greeted me or asked me what I liked. Bye then.

Great place to pick up unique wool. Very high quality and extremely soft to knit with. I can't walk out without purchasing at least several types.

Cast Away is within a beautiful historic building located on Historic Railroad Square. The interior itself is light and airy, with helpful displays and quirky accents, like an antique “cast-away” sailboat. Helpful staff showed me around the store, and told me about lessons that they offer at the store. The store is family owned as well, by a mother and daughter team, so bonus points for that.

I am in love with the store. There’s a great collection with a lot of variety and the staff are very knowledgeable and helpful. I love going to the Saturday stitch in! It’s a great place to hangout and meet other knitters!

Amazing LYS! Their fiber selection is phenomenal and the shop is very cute too. I usually meet very knowledgeable people when I travel to new shops but the experience I had here beat them all.
I typically look for yarn (of course), bags, stitch markers and a random pair of needles I don’t have in my collection yet. While asking for the needles, the woman helping me recommended a circular needle size I typically would never have purchased. After I politely declined, she made it a point to respectfully ask what I’d normally buy and why.
Long story short, I’ve been making more work for myself by buying my circular needles way too long. Anyone could have just listen to my request for a longer needle, rung me up and kept the day going. Instead, she took the time to understand what I normally use and why. I learned about a technique of knitting that I’d never considered and walked away very happy.
It’s easy to buy online but this is exactly the reason why I try my best to buy from LYSs. I’ll be sure to visit every year when we take our annual trip to CA for the holidays.
I’ve added a picture for fun. This is apparently how it supposed to look when you knit a hat 😅. It truly is much faster for me.

Beautiful shop with a good selection of fibers and accessories. Bonus: not a hint of that wierd stand off'ish vibe you get from some places, where they make you feel like a burden. The hostess was super helpful, and her pup super asleep. When we asked about a certain tool, she explained how she stopped carrying it because it didn't perform well for her. Nice to see interest in helping folks vs strictly being about profit margins

Good selection of knitting yarns, and a cute space, but I’ll echo what another reviewer said about the staff not being welcoming. I don’t think they mean to make people feel excluded, but I got a weird vibe from this place. No one was overtly unfriendly to me whatsoever, but my experience browsing and shopping here and interacting with the employees was just generally uncomfortable. I wouldn’t want to come back here.

My wife loves to knit and especiallymake socks. She would’ve loved your store, but we happen to come through town during the week and for some reason you have picked a weekday to be closed our loss and yours.

I’m a novice and was able to get all the information I needed to be thoroughly excited about starting a project which stretches my talents! Left with beautiful yarn-might be difficult to give it to the intendee—might want to keep it for myself😁

The best yarn shop ever! Big and bright and beautiful, a huge selection of high-quality yarns (in an accessible price range), modern and stylish, with a friendly and helpful staff. Justine focuses on stocking ethical, sustainably sourced, and/or family/BIPOC owned yarns. Lots of knitting/crochet notions and tools, plus a few things for weaving, punch needle, and embroidery. Plenty of knit and crochet samples to check out. Literally want to live in this shop!

I’m writing this review because I’m genuinely disappointed by a recent experience. I’m a newer knitter and had really been enjoying this shop. In the past, I received helpful advice here and was looking forward to continuing to learn and spend more time in the space.
I signed up for a knitting help class because I’m currently stuck on a project. Unfortunately, I woke up the morning of the class feeling very unwell and didn’t want to risk getting anyone sick. The class and the shop both open at 11am, and I tried calling earlier that morning in case someone was available, but no one answered. I was feeling so sick that I had to lie down, and when I woke up at 11:30am, I saw a text reminder for the class. I immediately responded, explained the situation, and asked if I could simply reschedule for another time when I was feeling better.
I was told that they couldn’t accommodate this request and that I would lose the money I paid due to their 24-hour policy. I understand having policies in place, but it was disappointing that there was no flexibility or understanding given the circumstances. I wasn’t asking for a refund, just the opportunity to attend the class at a later date.
It’s hard for me to understand why a small, local business in a creative and community-oriented space wouldn’t be more compassionate in a situation like this. Unfortunately, this experience has made me reconsider shopping here in the future, which is a real shame because I had been enjoying the store up until now. They haven’t responded to me yet but it doesn’t matter what they say. This killed any enjoyment or support for them.
