Interesting place to visit and learn about the history of Coachella Valley. Daughter loved the classroom most. It was nice to be able to walk through the exhibits freely and independently so that we could spend as much or as little time as we liked in certain areas.

What a great little museum! My friend told me about it and I'm glad I went. Such interesting history here in Coachella Valley. There's history of the Cahuilla Indians, the railroad, the date and agriculture industry, and the schools. Very comprehensive.

Excellent history of the lower Coachella Valley, with very well-educated former teachers as volunteer tour guides. Sue and Bill were both exceptional and informative.
One small thing -- I would recommend that the guides at the entrance provide a sense of how long the tour will be, as it was a bit more extensive than anticipated.

The folks provided an interesting tour. It was probably going on two hours and well worth the price of admission.

I have lived in the Coachella Valley for 45 years and finally got to see this beautiful historical place. It was an interested out of town family member l, that asked to visit and it was well worth the visit.

It costs $10 per person to enter the museum and they offered a free docent-led tour which I highly recommend as there isn't much signage throughout the museum but the docents did a good job informing us of the history of Dr. Smiley's home, the two rooms school house, and Coachella valley.

A fun experience for the whole family. My kids and I enjoyed the museum and learned about early life here in the Coachella Valley. It was an all around favorite, but we enjoyed the blacksmith part of the tour the most.

If you have not visited this museum featuring the history of the Coachella Valley take some time to discover it. It’s a little off the main access routes, but it’s well worth your time to find. You will enjoy the presentations on the history of the date industry, the Salton Sea, and early human settlement in the region. Well-informed docents make a pleasant experience as you pass through all the displays of historic significance. Plan for an hour and a half to two hours. You could spend much more time. There is ample parking.

We are staying at an RV park in Indio and were looking for things to do. The museum came up so we went over. The museum is only open Fridays thru Mondays so check to see if you decide to go. Admission for seniors was $6 per person which was reasonable. We had a docent available to show us the museum and she did a great job. They cover agriculture and the railroad from the beginnings. The number one crop here is dates followed by table grapes.
A lot of displays inluding a 1909 schoolhouse which is interesting to see. They raise dates here so they have a date museum as well as a blaksmith shop and even a water tower.

We really enjoyed our visit to the Coachella Valley History Museum. It was interesting and educational, perfect for both kids and adults. The exhibits were engaging and gave us a good sense of the area's history. The staff was helpful and added to our overall positive experience. It's a great spot for a family outing.

We had such a wonderful visit! We particularly enjoyed the old school house and collection of Mexican art. The docent who showed us around (Berty?) was patient and kind and so helpful with my mom, who is in a wheelchair. The museum also has a nice little gift shop. Am excellent place to visit!

Very well-done Museum housed in a 1920s Adobe building that served as a doctors office and residence. Additional buildings included a dentist office, blacksmith shop, schoolhouse and auditorium. Grounds are beautiful. First full weekend of each month is free admission.
