I can't say enough good about this guy. I had a friend tell me about Scott at Cunningham Tuning when I needed some work done on my santa fe. Scott is extremely upfront and honest and his rates beat everyone. He is friendly and personable and gets the job done fast and right. I have done a lot of shopping around in the Bellingham area and haven't found anyone I trust more with my vehicles. I moved away for school and if a repair can wait I bring my cars home to him just because I know he is someone I can trust do the repairs right and not over charge. Seriously, he is the BEST MECHANIC I have ever found!!!!!!!!! You won't regret going to him!!!!!

Scott seems very knowledgeable about TDI’s. Brought my 06 Jetta BRM to him and he was able to ease my mind about some sounds I was hearing. As well as give me some recommendations to fix another issue. It’s not easy to find a trustworthy mechanic for TDI’s, I would highly recommend Scott for any of your VW needs!

I have been very reluctant to to write this review and it is really not like me to write reviews in general but I have been feeling that my experience needs to be known. I like Scott, I found him to be personable, experienced, and knowledgeable. That said I have also been very unsatisfied by the way he has conducted business with me on two separate occasions. The first being a removal and seal replacement on a diesel injection pump. I noticed fuel dripping when my van was running and needed a seal replaced that couldn't be done without taking off the entire injection pump. I brought Scott a complete Bosch injection pump seal kit and together we agreed that all of the seals should be replaced since he will have the pump out on the desk. Upon pickup he had everything put back together and running, along with a handful of gaskets. He explained, "These are easy to do with the unit in place, another time" I was caught completely off guard and was appalled at the unprofessional way he treated the job. Collected payment but did not do the job to completion. Possibly knowing that the seals will soon leak and I will be back. -They did leak in fact but I had another mechanic finish the job. On a separate occasion I came back to Scott with another vehicle for a diagnostic. I was having a transmission code come up causing the check engine light to illuminate. I asked Scott to diagnose the source of the problem so I could make a plan of attack beyond googling. He said he could do it in one hour and that he had special tools to get the code figured out. $125 dollar charge. I agreed and frankly that would be a great deal if he could confidently tell me the source of the problem. Days later I called Scott to check in. He just said to come by and pick it up. When I got there he had done absolutely nothing but run the car with his scanner and clear the code. He had not even taken it for a test drive which he admitted. I had to ask him to get in the car with me and go for a drive to see if he can offer any kind of input. He agreed but did not even want to get on the freeway "just a quick drive, I left my garage door open" he said. I got absolutely and I mean absolutely no input form Scott! He did not tell me ANYTHING about how to potentially go about fixing the engine code. He said, "I cleared the system, it drives nice, hopefully it re-learns and it doesn't come back on" anything else? I asked "Nope, $125 and you're on your way" said Scott. I payed him the money and drove away feeling taken advantage of and feeling convinced that I will not be returning to Scott with any vehicle needs.

This shop was recommended to us and we called. He agreed to take a look even though he typically doesn't work on our type of car. Within a day he figured out what the problem was, swapped out the problem part, and when we came in to get the car he showed us the broken part and why it wasn't working. Definitely knowledgeable and felt like I wasn't going somewhere that was going to try to have a ton of "extra" work done or charge an insane amount. I'd go again if he'd take my car back even though it's not the normal car he works on.
