Bill Green, the Service Advisor, was absolutely awesome. I had just come into Chico from far away when my check engine light came on and I had to find a mechanic ASAP that wasn’t too far from where I was. It was already past 3 pm and I was worried I might not be able to have the car diagnosed and fixed before 5 and then wouldn’t have any way to get home. Bill told me that he was short on help that day and had no one available to fix my car. But then he offered to at least electronically diagnose the problem so I’d have some idea of what was going on. He determined that it was the number 4 coil in my 2007 Toyota Avalon, and tested it out to be sure by switching two of the coils and then driving it multiple times. And then, like the hero he was for me, said that he could fix it and do the work himself if I didn’t mind waiting, which I certainly didn’t since I really couldn’t go anywhere safely and certainly not home. He was able to get the part needed expedited and had it repaired in no time! I was really overjoyed. I should mention that I am a senior lady living in the Sierra foothills where there are big expanses of cell phone dead zones and tightly windy roads. It would have been very dangerous for me to be there alone with a car ready to konk out. It’s an isolated area with not much traffic and I could have been stuck for a really long time and not be able to call out for help. Bill fixed it right away and really went the extra mile to ensure my safety. He explained to me what the coil did and how it worked. And best of all, he charged me a very reasonable fee so that I didn’t feel taken advantage of in my vulnerable situation. This was my first time at this auto shop and it was only picked because it was close by to where my engine light had come on. I had no idea who they were. It was a random choice. But I unhesitatingly recommend them to anyone now. Bill and I chit chatted a bit after the repair and I was quite impressed with his integrity and dedication to service, especially with helping ladies. He said that he cares about women with urgent immediate car problems the same way that he would care about his own mother, wife, or daughters. That particularly made a difference to me. I felt as cared about as a family member by him. I was so grateful for the exceptional, timely, and excellent quality service I received there. I will choose them as my new auto repair shop from now on and definitely endorse them.

Brooke is delightful and offered excellent customer service, which is a rarity these days. And Cody was the mechanic who checked out my car for me. He was honest in his assessment, in that basically my car didn't have any glaring problems, but simply needs a few maintenance procedures that aren't urgent. I don't remember the last time I went to a mechanic who didn't insist on a "necessary " repair. This will be my go to shop for all future mechanical issues.

It was my first time using D&E to service my 2012 volkswagen passat. I had been bringing it to the dealership and felt i was getting ripped off. I met Bill when I first arrived. Great experience at D&E Auto Repair. First was a check engine light and rear brakes, which they diagnosed and I was only without a car for a day. 2nd, someone clipped my driver side mirror and kept going, Bill said bring it in well check it out. I can't recommend this shop enough! They were incredibly honest, straightforward, and professional from start to finish. I cannot speak highly enough about D&E Auto. Bill worked so hard to get our car back on the road. They always make time for us. They are so transparent with what is going on with any of our repairs. They always take such great care of us. We will always come back for the geunuine people and the great care they take of us. Finding a new auto repair place you can trust when you relocate can be very nerve wracking. I checked reviews and got personal recommendations, but still a rapport must be developed between you and the shop. My Jeep was due for a big service which I knew would be expensive but vital for its longevity. I am very happy I found D&E. From my first phone conversation with Bill all the way through to picking up my car, their customer service was stellar. Both Bill and Brooke are friendly and knowledgeable. Bill answered my many questions patiently and thoroughly. The recommendations were spot on and honest. No high pressure upsell of stuff that isn’t needed like I experienced when I had a dealer service my Jeep. The final quote was what I expected from a licensed shop, more than an under the table backyard mechanic and less than the dealer. The work was completed on time and within quote. I drove off in my car impressed with the fact it handled like it did when I bought it. Even better, I did not find one single drip under the car the next day. I hope to not need their services for a long time but this will be where I return for future maintenance and repair. Highly recommend this shop!

Edit: About an hour after I posted this, Aaron contacted me personally and let me know he was reviewing my case. He took the issue seriously and too heart, and made clear he was dedicated to fixing the matter. Asked me to come in when I could so we could discuss things. I came in the next day and he immediately brought me into his office. We reviewed what Toyota told me, and he explained the extra pricing on D&Es side was because of a three year attached warranty. He was clearly frustrated and apologetic about my experience and admitted they failed. He also explained to me that usually the mechanics take pictures of issues so that they can be shown to customers as proof, something mine did not do but that he would make sure wouldn't happen again--he went so far as to show me the program. Aaron also said that usually repairs are audited but I slipped through the cracks as I chose to take my car back and that he was going to patch this hole in the system. He refunded me for the inspection, and had the mechanic who originally inspected my car do it again in front of both of us. Aaron explained D&E uses 12mm pads, and thats a difference between them and Toyota. Mine were measured at 8 instead of the 7 I was told, and I was shown how the mechanic got the ABS light on. Indeed, their was no problem with my booster or accumulator, and the ABS light was a quick flash after multiple prolonged hard breaks. Aaron apologized for the mechanics mistake and made his unhappiness with it clear. Aaron offered to have my rotor fixed for free as an apology on top of the refund and adjusted one of my tires. As I said to him, my bad expirence with the mechanic was more than made up for with his efforts to make it up and him expressing how they'd look to keep it from happening again. Mishaps happen, and it's how you fix them that matters more than anything. I am very grateful for how he immediately moved to solve the issue and gave me restitution for it, without ever trying to guarantee me returning as a customer. To be clear, I would return here for repairs knowing someone like Aaron is there if another issue were to occur, and now knowing the systems they have in place to keep mechanics accountable. My original review from before: I went to D&E multiple times and for a while really loved them. Swore by them to my friends. Brooke was always kind and took time to explain and answer questions, and one time the mechanics popped the hood of my car in the parking lot and literally pointed to the problem so I could see it, and told me how to fix it myself in the future. That's why I was shocked when I decided to go there for a brake diagnostics and was lied to up and down the isle. Was told I had a vacuum leak, that my traction control light and ABS light was turning on during break tests during the test drive. Told my accumulator and booster needed replacement and that I should get new fluids. Was ALSO told my brake pads were on half life (about 6mm). The job would've totaled out to $6,500.41 (side note, Brooke was still incredibly kind explaining each of the supposed problems). Decided I'd take it for a test drive of my own. No lights, no problems breaking like the mechanic claimed, no weird noises that would indicate an accumulator issue either, only the noise I originally heard. I decided to take it to Toyota instead. I have a small lip on my rotor. That's it. They even lied about my breaks, which are at 9 mm. Prius break pads are put in at 10mm. Also was told that the accumulator and booster was 1.9k each at D&E, Toyota told me those parts were about 1.3k and 2k total for the job, where D&E wanted to charge me 3k total. I think whichever mechanic worked on my car saw a young women with a problem and tried to get a quick buck out of her. Paid $92 dollars to get lied too.

I had work done on my car where I usually go and when I picked it up it idled rough. I took it back to them and they couldn't find out why, even tried to tell me that it idled normal after I drove mechanic around and clearly it was idling rough. I was told until a light comes on they dont know what's wrong and don't have hours to look into it. Really, I said dont you have a machine to hook it up to and find out that way? I don't know much about cars but I keep mine in pretty good shape. Girl up front told me no that unless I have a light that comes on then they don't know. So I said ok and left. I am a 65 year old woman and always seem to have been taken advantage of with auto shops. So I heard about D&E Auto seeing a post on FB that has good reviews. I went to them and Bill came out turned car on and he instantly could tell it wasn't idling right. They put it on machine and found problem. I was so happy he found it amongst a few other issues but they fixed them all. Bill took care of my issues and is very knowledgeable. I won't be returning to other shop used to go to. I finally found people I can trust who know what they're doing. I would recommend them as they got me in right away.And ty for telling me about coupon on your website. 😀

Very good customer service. They diagnosed problems and possible Future problems and also Bill was very kind And courteous To me and he loved my truck it's a 91 toyota rock crawler . Also very Reasonable prices. I highly recommend them. I will definitely go back in the future It was the first time I had been there. Good , I took it when I did because because the Belts we're all shot. Replaced them immediately, they also put Put new ngk Spark plugs and wires a new distributor on it And the old distributor Was being held together by j b weld I couldn't believe it. I lost my 1990 rock crawler in paradise during the campfire wildfire sucked it was built by me from 03 Jr yr of high school until 2018 was done right by my And my friends one time. So I bought a 91 with all the Same stuff my 90 had but the 91 the previous owner did not maintain it right like I do I'm ocd about my trucks I always have them running in peak condition. Anyway yes go there they will text you what they did and recommend what needs immediate attention or what may need attention in thefuture. Very happy with the work they did.
