I did finally buy the wheel I was looking for. Even though it was listed on TireRack.com (a Discount Tire company), they would not ship it a Discount Tire for installation. When I received the new wheel, I took it to Discount to have the tire removed from the stock wheel and installed on the new wheel. The employee came out and looke at the wheel, then at the spare still mounted on the factory wheel. 'Nope, sorry can't do this.' Why I asked. 'This (spare) tire is date coded for 2021 and it is too old to mount as we'd have liability.' But it is just eh spare I said. 'Nope.' I went to another tire store in Johnson City and they happily swapped it for $15. UPDATE: (July 2025) I did finally get in touch with someone at the Johnson City location. I looked and I had 15 UNANSWERED calls between JC and Kingsport. I gave the info as to what I was looking for, a specific wheel for the exposed spare, to someone. He put me on hold and about 3 minutes later, another guy picked up. He asked the same questions and then said 'well, I have to wait for a computer.' That took another 5 minutes for him to get access to a computer. In todays day and age, not having enough computers is ridiculous. They're not $5000 each. Have enough computers for each sales person! And BTW, the guy I did speak to said 'I'll call you back (he had to call sister company Tire Rack for availability) and he never did.' Do they really want your business??? And the form you asked me to complete below (really just a web link) did nothing more than gather my name, phone and email address. PRIOR COMMENT: None of the stores (JC and Kingsport) answer their phones anymore. I’ve called many times the past few days and the phone just rings and rings. I wonder if they’ve gone out of business? I’ll drive past and see if they are still in business or not.

My wife and I had bought a used tire from a less than reputable source and had asked this location if they could mount it. When the very knowledgeable Preston saw the tire we had he said they couldn’t do it citing safety concerns as it was a 10 year old tire. He also noticed that our lug nuts on our jeep patriot were the original aluminum ones, and said we needed to replace those as well. We were not in the best financial spot so Preston, through whatever magic he possessed, replaced all 4 of our tires with brand new ones and brand new lug nuts for next to nothing. I have never been so impressed by a commitment to safety over profit in my life. Preston literally saved our lives.

My hubby was right - they beat out Costco’s tire recommendation which is where I normally go for a full set change. I was greeted promptly and courteously by Jason. He found various options for my car’s rare tire size, I was quoted about an hour wait time and my keys were handed to me a minute beforehand.🤗 Large lobby appeared very clean but I enjoyed sitting outside on the front benches with the beautiful mountain view. During my wait, I was delightfully updated that I’d be getting a better tire set for the same price due to one of the four originally agreed upon couldn’t be found in their inventory. I left with a great new set of Yokohama tires and will definitely be back with other vehicles.

I regret not remembering the team members name that assisted me 9/23/25, but he was very knowledgeable and communicated with me top tier. I could tell he was well versed in his field. I had booked online for 4 new tire installation, I arrived before my appointment time and was out the door and on the road 20 minutes BEFORE my original appointment time, talk about service! I barely had time to get comfortable in the waiting area, which is a fine problem to have! Discount Tire in Johnson City has always been my go-to shop for all things tires. Speed, service, the price is right, knowledgeable and friendly staff. Why would you go anywhere else?

Ladies, beware!! Would have given O ⭐️'s if possible. Although the employee shared that they do not make commission, he was very pushy for me to buy four new tires instead of just looking at the one low tire to see if it could be plugged. The whole process took 4.5 hours and I still drove home a doughnut. The lies, gimmicks and not knowing when to stop talking and listen to questions the customer is asking was over the top. After being told that my car was in the parking lot with no tire, the employee looked at me and said, would you like to have your keys? The tone was rude. I will never go back!

I had a tire blowout and went to Discount Tire for a replacement. The staff member who helped me, Rylan, was knowledgeable, thorough, and kind. He made sure that I knew all of my options and he knew my situation before finding the right tires. The bay workers who did the work were able to get the work done sooner than the estimated time and did a fantastic job. Honestly, with the level of customer service I experienced, I don't see myself getting tires from anywhere else.

Overall, service was not bad. Very attentive and very educated on topics. But when asked about the spare, I was informed that it would fit under my vehicle as the location where a spare is stored . As I was leaving, I realized that they did not attach the spare that I had just bought, they had placed it in the trunk without informing me. Secondly, the spare tired did not in fact fit under my car in they needed area.

I am impressed with their customer service. All sales people were very knowledgeable and patient with me about my tire purchase. I also got a very good price on a set of Cooper ATP, because they price matched a competitor. A few months after my purchase I got a free tire rotation. They ended up switching out a lug nut because it was on the verge of stripping out. So the technicians are also looking out for the customer. Thank you Discount Tire Johnson City!

Shoutout to Bryce for helping me out—he was super attentive, approachable, and easy to talk to. He made sure everything was clearly explained, which I really appreciated. I had flat tires and they were able to get everything fixed within an hour. Big thanks as well to Jason who worked on my car.
