Five star experience. Out of the blue my car wouldn’t start. I pressed start on my 2020 Ford and the starter engaged for 5+ minutes until there was light white smoke coming out from under the hood. The engine never turned over during that whole attempt to start. Eventually it stopped and at this point the 4.5 year old OEM battery was dead. The local FD came out to ensure there was no fire risk due to the smoke that was starting near the end of the 5 minute attempt. The smoke quickly subsided — in fact before the FD even arrived, so we never saw where it came from. But the car’s battery was completely dead. The FD noticed the starter and battery were hot with their FLIR cam. Assuming the immediate issue was the battery, I called AAA to take a look. With some electricity, the car started up again. So we replaced the battery and the car was starting. A day later and the car start still sounded weak, but it was a Sunday and I couldn’t bring it in anywhere. The car was still starting but it was not reliable by any means. It always sounded like it was struggling taking a few cranks to get the engine to turn over. There was one instance in which it just didn’t start again and a try later, I got it to start. At this point I did not want to drive the car fearing the start processes would cause another fault in the starter like it did a day earlier. I knew I needed to get it looked at by professionals. Ford was not working with me and I couldn’t get an appointment. I needed to bring it in somewhere with a good reputation. I found Doc Auto Repair on Google maps and hear good things from locals. I called on Monday morning with Dominic answering the phone. He was professional and quickly understood the issue I was attempting to communicate. I was able to start my car and bring it in just after lunch that same day. I dropped the car off and Dominic let me know they would get to my car as soon as they could. I had a friend drive me back to work and I awaited updates. A few hours later, Dominic called back with a diagnosis. The original starter seemed to be damaged. He offered that it’s possible the original battery was probably not providing the starter the power it needed to turn over the engine and caused some sort of fault in the starter causing it to stay engaged for too long (remember, my car tried to start for 5+ minutes without stopping). The burnt smell was coming from the starter and he let me know the new AAA battery was working as it should. Additionally the alternator was in working order and there were no blown fuses. This is all still Monday. Fantastic turn around time. Dominic offered me a very competitive price (parts and labor) to replace the starter. I accepted and the genuine part was in the next day from the dealership. Dominic and his team replaced the damaged starter on Tuesday tested the repair and the car was starting with no issues anymore. He called me and let me know. I could not pick the car up that day, so he offered to continue to test the start for another day, at no charge, so I could pick the car up the next day. I came in on Wednesday just before close, he showed me pictures of the old and new starter and had me out the door in 10 minutes. The car start sounds strong again. There is nothing I can complain about. Dominic was professional, accommodating, transparent, technically knowledgeable, and fair. I was surprised about the price for the repair in a positive way. The results are also great. No issues in the 4 days since. If I have other car issues while in the Vegas area, I will definitely be back. Thanks!

I've taken my vehicle(s) to Doc auto repair for the last 3-4 years. They are honest and trustworthy. They will find out what's wrong and repair it quickly. If fact I took my van to Docs before I went out on a road trip from Vegas to Maine. It was a smooth 5,000 mile ride .They checked everything and didn't charge me an arm & leg. I have been to many mechanics over the years but not in the last 3-4 years Docs repair shop is my cars best friend. If you want your vehicle to last years and miles. Absolutely amazing service at Doc Auto! I went in that day (with an appointment of course) and they got new front brakes put on, a wheel bearing replaced, fixed my axle, and fixed up my undercarriage cover all within just a few hours. All of the employees are super knowledgeable and they even showed me what was wrong on my car before giving me a quote. Honestly could not have had a better experience! Came for an oil change, but a day early…but no matter. These guys told me to just hang tight and got everything figured out for me. Turns out my tire pressures and cabin filters were beyond refilling/replacing…all at an affordable and reasonable cost. The staff were very friendly and transparent with all kinds of questions. I am 1000% sure this is the right shop, but thanks for trying to infer I'm stupid, much appreciated. Thanks for making my point. They also keep client records straight and it is likely that personal information has been compromised as a result of their incompetence.

I moved to Las Vegas couple years ago and had a really bad experienced on my 1st auto repair shop experience whom someone told me was good shop. Then my neighbor told me his son used to bring his car at Doc Auto Repair which is just a mile from my place. Brought my 2016 CRV for break replacement and for a year now it never gave me a problem. Brought the same car last summer for AC check (Refrigerant) and these guys did well again. Just today, they replaced my CRV's Front and Rear shocks, Spark Plugs and fixed some small issues free of charge. I highly recommend Doc Auto Repair, they did service that is above and beyond! People here know what they are doing from the front office to their mechanics. Great Job!
