This review is specifically for new Dallasites. Eventually you’ll need a state inspection for your vehicle. And likely even service on an older model. Well, I’m saving you the research and telling you that this is your Downtown service station. John and Alan (GM and Service manager) are straight shooter that have your back. Say hello when you arrive. My inspection was well explained (fee wise) and took about 20 minutes start to finish with no appointment and a few phone calls that the station needed to answer in the middle.

If I could leave 0 stars I would, they false advertise state inspections. I showed up, no one is there to help, I go to the office where three mechanics are sitting, chatting, and first thing they say is “what do you want”. I asked for a state inspection (which again, they state they do and have a huge sign for it) just to tell me that I have to leave my car for “couple of hours” because they will take it to another place as they don’t have the machine for it… so basically two things: 1. False advertising (no state inspections) 2. Bad attitude.

When I go into Dunlap Swain. I'm treated with respect and my vehicle is tended to quickly. I fix my vehicle myself most of the time except in hot weather or if it's something that I can't do myself. I love that the mechanics here complemented the good work on my car and they asked me who did such a good job. I said it was me and they were very surprised. 👍🏽😁 I do give them my business even though I can fix my own car.

I had a flat tire today and was conveniently near Dunlap and Swain auto shop. I was greeted warmly by the front desk employee and offered services immediately. It was discovered that my required tools were missing to remove the spare tire. Let me tell you! These men patiently went beyond and successfully removed my tire. Mr. Osei communicated well about the missing tools and how to go about having the entire kit replaced. The hospitality, customer service and maintenance here is worth the while. Stop by to see! The men here are always approachable and respectful. I usually feel very intimidated to go into a tire shop or mechanic shop because I get treated like I don’t know what I’m talking about. Dunlap here in downtown has the best customer service and fair pricing. Recently, I’d been to two tire shops before Dunlap and they told me my tire was fine. One of them even charged me for the air fill. But Dunlap found the screw in my tire and patched it up asap—they also don’t charge for air so I usually leave tip.

After having a bad day in which I had to repair a flat in morning before work. When leaving the garage at my work. I had another nail in my tire on the opposite tire. So I went to Dunlap and they repaired it quickly. However next morning that same tire was flat. So I took it back in the morning. They fixed it with no problem and were able to find main issue with tire which also Valve.

My husband and I have been taking our cars here since we moved to Dallas, and have always been impressed with the extraordinary customer service, kindness, and integrity of the staff. They are fair and honest, and tell you like it is. This last week, I took my car in to get the brakes looked at because I had suspected something was wrong. They thoroughly inspected it, put it up on the machine and took the wheels off, and test drove it multiple times to simulate the issue I described, and found it was working as normal. When I went to pick it up, they gave me a thorough report of all they had tested and tried, and gave me their estimate of the life left on the brakes. Turned out that the brakes were perfectly fine and I didn’t need any work done. John didn’t charge me a single penny for all the investigative work they did to confirm there was no issue. These guys do not invent issues just to charge you to fix them - they are honest and truthful. Oh, and they also refilled my tires with air (my tire pressure warning light had been on for a while)! I wish all my customer service experienced were like Dunlap Swain - they’re truly the best!

My car broke down (a radiator hose popped off & busted) and unfortunately my Onstar was NO HELP but fortunately I was able to park at this station. I am so thankful!!! Onstar gave me the run around until 3am, so I ended up just leaving my car parked. I called Dunlap & Swain at 6:30 am and left a voicemail explaining my situation. They promptly called me back after they opened & told me not to worry about anything & they said they could go fix my car!! I was beyond thrilled! Did I mention I live a little over an hour from Dallas??? My car was ready the next day! He kept me informed & was very curtious. YES! I absolutely recommend this place & will return for any future work.

Rolled in at 2:24 PM for an oil change and a tire-pressure check, only to be told they stop taking cars at 3:00 PM—even at 2:30 with all bays empty, they were not able to change my oil. Time and IQ points wasted. Would not recommend.
