Joe was the best to work with. He’s an asset to this company. It started off with calling the location to check if I could come in during lunch rush-hour while I was on my lunch break at work. Joe was super friendly and inviting and was able to accommodate with last minute availability. In person, he was super quick at using his IT team when there was a slight delay in the computer system. I came in to get my breaks checked with the free inspection since they were screeching and turned out I needed to get tires and breaks replaced. He was able to explain the problem and recommended useful services like 5 year alignment warranty. Now I will be more mindful with driving around pot holes and come in for an alignment any time I feel there is a potential a major change.

Would have been a five star experience if they had remembered to put the steering column covers back on. Found them just laying on the passenger floorboard. I hope I got em back on safely and correctly. I still recommend them and will bring my vehicles in for future repairs.

First time here and it was great, got my brakes done in less than 3 hours! It was a great experience with no pressure to get any additional things done. I read many reviews and I have to say this place is living up to its 5 stars. I want to say thank you to the main guy running the desk! You are awesome and made my experience great. This place is very reputable with Costco and that alone should speak for itself. Costco doesn’t just mess with anyone. These guys are legit. Don’t let any of the negative reviews tell you otherwise because I was expecting some shafting things but got pleasantly surprised by a great service I’ll be coming back to. Thanks family auto. Highly recommend this place. First time reaching out to a mechanic shop because you know mechanics are out for our money 😜. Joe the manager picked up my call and guided me through the whole process her never once tried to push and service other than what I came in here for. Do not come here! I went in months ago for new rotors and brakes and the brakes weren’t even correctly installed. I had to find out from ANOTHER mechanic who happened to be more honest about what really needed to be done. Brought the car in not once, but twice and both times I heard two different things on what was “wrong with the car” I tried to request a refund only to hear that they can’t refund me and that I should have brought it back. But why bring a car back for a service that was not only overcharged but also done incorrectly. I would not bring it back for it to be done incorrectly a second time. Three different mechanics said I was overcharged. Save your money and find honest mechanics who don’t tell you different things when you bring in the car. Writing this now because I found a problem with the rotors they also installed!

Shady place. Full stop. Came here a few months ago to see what maintenance my car MAY need. They came back with 1500+ to replace my brakes, rotors, and struts. Today, I took my car to another shop (with 4.9 stars and many, MANY recommendations from locals) and they found not one thing wrong with my car, they just gave me the sheet with the numbers and what they inspected. Thats a huge problem, how did Family Auto Service somehow find things wrong with my car when there was nothing to be fixed. There is no explanation for that shadiness. And further more, back when they gave me that steep quote, they tried to shame me when I obviously had doubt. No, how dare a business do that. Avoid this place at all costs.

Took my car in for their advertised free diagnosis, they had a look and quoted me a rather steep estimate that I politely declined mentioning that was out of my budget. The manager insisted to ask me to start with some of their services and perhaps got upset that I did not take them on their offer since he did not want to provide me a physical copy of their findings but rather verbally tell me. When I got my car back I noticed my shifter had been tampered with and has noticeably been giving me problems ever since. Good news is that I bought the parts myself and had them installed for less than half the cost somewhere else. Im sure this place does decent work when the dime is paid but it just ain't for me

These guys made having a broken down car easy. They are friendly, professional and allowed me to tow my car in before my appointment. They did an excellent job in the repair in a timely manner. A they are reasonably priced and great communicators. As a woman that is not car savvy, you always worry that they might take advantage of you but they did not. I had my friend call them to translate to me what was going on and he really thought that they were reasonably priced too. 1 out of 10 I give them a 20. I will be recommending them to all those that I know.

I was really impressed with the efficiency and communication of Family Auto in La Mesa. They offered to get my Challenger in same day for some maintenance work, and after finding out I needed a couple of other things fixed they were also able to take care of everything that same day. And when I was quoted a lesser price at a different mechanic, they were able to price match! Plus I was able to use my Costco membership here for 15% off of my total which was so helpful. David at the front desk was great. Overall I’m really happy with the work done to my car and the customer service this place provided, I will be back!

AMAZING SERVICE. I’m telling all my friends and family. They were kind enough to get me in the same day as I am moving at the beginning of next week. They fixed my issue, kept their word, stayed in contact, and made me laugh along the way!! The manager Daniel was so kind and understanding.
