Five O Motors had all of the tools I needed to complete my project. Staff doesn't hover over you so you can have all the space to do your own thing without any side distraction. The price for a stall rental is cheap too. Definitely coming here again for future projects!

I gave a 5-star review in the past. Not today: I dropped off a brake rotor that needed to be turned. It had a few shallow grooves in it from the beginning of metal on metal contact, but nothing bad. A few minutes after leaving the rotor with the Front Desk, the technician calls me and says: "I can't turn this. It's too far gone; those grooves are too deep." I went back to get the rotor and told him: "This rotor has never been serviced and it's a (fairly) new vehicle. I didn't think it was too bad..." "Yeah, it's shot." "Oh, okay. Did you measure it?" The technician looks at me like I'm a child: "I've been a machinist for over 20 years; I don't NEED to measure it!" I left and took the rotor to a local auto parts store. The employee takes the rotor and examines it: "Doesn't look too bad. Let me measure it." He takes a digital caliper and, after looking up the specs in the manual, states: "It's got plenty of meat on here. But our machine is down today, so take it to the machine shop in the Quarry." I drive to Kapaa Quarry and the guy at the machine shop looks at the rotor and tells me: "Looks good to me, but I'll measure it." He takes a pair of analog calipers, checks the groove and says: "Come back in 2 hours, I'll have it ready." 2 hours later I come back and the rotor is perfectly smooth and ready to go. I tell him of my unpleasant experience with the condescending technician at the Marine base, adding "I guess his 20+ years of being a machinist qualifies him to make uniformed decisions without following guidelines..." Did my safety inspection here but this place is where you can do your own maintenance. But as for the safety inspection is pretty straight forward as long as you get the appointment scheduled. They post the appointments for the next month around the last week of the current month.

One of the best resources on base, extremely great deal to save money and amazing staff help always provided. 100% recommend.

Cheap way to get auto work done. Super helpful staff. Highly recommended! I've done two brake jobs, replaced a wheel bearing, and replaced shocks and struts here and never had a bad experience. $12 a rotor to turn rotors is tough to beat!

The front desk lady mentioned there is an alignment rack but no one certified for the last 2 or 3 years. When I went to Lincoln Tech, the certification is implied since all automotive techs are taught every there is to know about diagnosing and fixing a car. That is really bad, why list a service that you cannot provide?

The shop has low rates for a nice place to work on your vehicle. The tools aren’t very high quality or plentiful, but it gets the job done. The staff have always been very kind and helpful except for the big man with the lip. That man is pretty rude and I’ve heard from others he’s been disrespectful. He also managed to strip a nut on someone’s power steering line because he used the wrong size wrench.. Avoid him and the shop is as good as you make it!

The lady at the front desk is rude and seldom helpful. I think almost every answer to my questions were to go online or a reason to send me away. She told me they only have 1 inspector and that is why it is difficult to get an appointment, but I spoke with at least 2 gentlemen who told me they can do inspections. This place is 1 of 2 locations on the windward side that can do inspections and they actively schedule 1 guy? It's great to give service members a place to work on their own vehicles and provide them with tools, but the staffing should seriously be reconfigured. They require you to wear pants, but if you don't have them they will gladly sell you a trash bag for pants.

The services and tools provided and the mechanics on standby are all fantastic. However, every time I walk in the office to rent a stall either a very large man or a brown haired woman are behind the desk and they are both EXTREMELY rude, condescending and downright hostile. I don’t know what makes them think it’s okay to talk to people who are just trying to work on their cars in the manner they do, but it absolutely is not okay.

GREAT STAFF!!! Always ready and willing to help and check your work! I went on 9 Feb to install a new exhaust system for my 2021 Tacoma and one of the staff used to install custom exhaust kits!

Place is awesome. They helped me knock out the suspension on my crv. I am not mechanically inclined and was able to get it done within two days.

5.0 motors is like the father I never had everyone that works there is extremely knowledgeable and treats me like family. I learned as much as how to change oil to rebuild my car. It's basically first come first serve they have a tool room that you loan out. They charge you by the hour for whatever you are using be that a lift or just a stall or even storage. If your a new guy on base don't be afraid to come here and work on your car they got everything you need plus more don't work on your car in your barracks parking lot.

Awesome experience! Working with Mike and Cody was incredible. Mike seriously knows what he is doing. Taught me the tricks to replacing a starter in a tight spot! Cody fixed my tire and haven’t had a problem since. Because of these two I will be back!

The manager was really really kind/ helpful however their was a very large man who was working in the tool room and he was extremely rude to my friend because once the very large man said he couldn’t fix my car, my friend said he’d like to try and the large man got very offended. Then when we would ask him for parts he would pretend he couldn’t hear us and be very petty with the way he talked to us. If it wasn’t for the very large man being rude, I would rate this place 5 stars. It’s like $8 a day to keep your car there and use the tools, plus there is a lift that can be used. You can not reserve a garage with a lift, it’s first come first served. I showed up in the morning and they called me in the afternoon to tell me the lift was available. I had 20 minutes to get there before they called the next person on the waiting list for them to use the lift.

If you’re missing all your own tools, and have the knowledge to turn your own wrenches (or even if you don’t, they were super helpful), you can’t beat the prices of this place. I brought my own motorcycle lift/Jack (borrowed from a friend), and Five-O had ALL the tools. Cost me less than $45 to work on my bike for 1.5 days, including overnight stage in the enclosed bay.

The techs are super helpful and they have just about every tool you could want. If you want a safety inspection make sure to schedule it two weeks out. If you want to get a spot in the morning, make sure you are there like 30 minutes before they open to get in line. They have a few lift bays and a lot of normal jack bags. Lift bays are $7/hour and normal are $5/hour. Great people!

Personally I am really glad we have a place like this on base. It beats having to buy all your own tools or being overcharged by a mechanic to do work you can do yourself. I’ve used five O motors multiple times doing everything from oil change and tire rotation to complete engine swap. They have always had the tool I needed and are willing to help you with your project. I think the best part about this place is the prices.

Appointment to drop off one tire to be mounted and balanced is ridiculous. Came here many times before and got excellent service. But an appointment for one tire over a week out is ridiculous. Lazy people. And I’m not allowed to do it myself.
