Three weeks ago I brought my 1995 F150 manual transmission truck in for an overdue maintenance check, having them replace any worn parts. There was seepage all around the engine cover gaskets and although I could have saved repair for another day I decided to get it done. In the process of this work many other engine parts were routinely replaced and fixed. In short, they did a great job. The engine looks great, nice and clean with new parts everywhere. It was worth the cost. After three weeks my truck still runs great, smooth and easy. They inadvertently solved another problem without knowing it as well, an air conditioning issue. Their work received a compliment by another technician since, saying that the work looked clean and he wanted to know where I had the work done. I will be bringing it back next year for its routine oil change. I think my truck should be good for another 100,000 miles.

I’m extremely disappointed with my experience with Gretchen's Automotive. This is happened on Wednesday 11/26/25 the day before Thanksgiving. I brought in a flat tire off the car and clearly asked if they were able patch my tire, I was told they could do that. Was told it would be a few hours, so I dropped off the tire and left. When I got home after picking up the tire, I realized they had put a plug it the instead of a patch. They charged me $30 for a plug which is a quick, cheap temporary fix, not what I requested or expected. When I called to inquire what was done and why they didn’t patch it as requested, the explanation was “the city won’t let us have a tire changer”. Ok, so when I asked for a patch, I should have been turned away or told they were only able to plug my tire, not patch it. The guy who took in my tire in and who I talked to on the phone after arriving home said in his mind a patch and a plug are the same thing. Now I am stuck with a plug in my tire until Friday after the holiday to take the tire to a another shop who can fix it correctly. If a shop doesn’t know the difference between patching a tire and plugging a tire, makes me question the rest of their automotive knowledge. I feel careless at best and dishonest at worst. I won’t be returning, and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone looking for honest, professional service. ******* Here is a follow up to Todd's comment below. If he had read my review, I DID call after returning home. I called to see about making it right. Whoever I talked to did offer me $10 refund (not $30) after they threw a tantrum on the phone about me questioning why they didn't do what I came in and clearly asked for. There was never any sort of apology, he put it on me for not clarify to him what a patch was, and that I wanted the tire patched from the inside. He offered me a $10 refund followed up by saying "I should not even offer that because I already gave you a $10 discount because you brought the tire it and we didn't have to take it off, normally I charge $40". Well, Todd, you don't even need to take a tire off the car to plug it. I then told him I did not want $10 back, I want my tire fixed correctly, now I have to take it elsewhere to have it done correctly... to which I received another childish outburst "You go take that flat tire somewhere else, you take that worn flat tire somewhere else and get it fixed". If that was Todd, the owner, he is childish and condescending to his customers. So NO, I won't come shake your hand and take a refund. Yes, mistakes happen and had you made any effort when I called to apologize or make any sort amends to the situation, that would have been fine. Your angry outburst and immature behavior is what prompted me to leave my review.
