EDIT: The owner and shop manager contacted me after seeing my review, expressing their unawareness of the full extent and duration of the issue. They were both sincerely apologetic and offered to take any steps I felt were needed to make amends for my experience. I genuinely appreciate their efforts and am considering giving the shop another chance with other services that they offer. Initial Review: It is is so hard to support black businesses. My experience with House of Shades turned into a nightmare. On 3/25/2024, I went to their location on Smallwood Drive in Waldorf for a simple window tint. A few days later, I noticed an air bubble in the tint on the driver's side window. Anthony acknowledged the issue but attributed it to the nature of my car's windows, suggesting I return on a warmer day for him to redo the tint. When I came back on April 2nd, he redid the tint, promising it would be ready by evening. I never received a call stating my car was ready so I ended up just showing up shortly after 5PM. However, upon inspection, I found the window cracked. He stated he would reach out to me the next day by 10AM to get the issue resolved. I never heard from him. I had to contact him. From this point on, I was left to continuously chase him for updates. The saga continued with false claims about ordering a replacement window from Tesla. When it FINALLY arrived on April 18th, it was the wrong one. Despite assurances of dealership quality, it turned out to be aftermarket. I had to matters into my own hands and procure the window from Rockville. Even after installation, the window remained imperfect. Worse, the crack left a mark on my car. Seeking a refund only added to the frustration. It took until April 26th to receive it, in installments due to their financial constraints. Despite assurances, returning for tinting on April 28th became another ordeal. Anthony's unprofessionalism persisted, prioritizing other customers over resolving my issues. It's disheartening to face such incompetence and dishonesty, especially when supporting black businesses. Throughout this entire ordeal, I found myself repeatedly reaching out to Anthony for updates, often met with silence or lies. The lack of communication and disregard for my concerns made me feel utterly disrespected as a customer. Never before have I encountered such blatant disregard for professionalism and basic courtesy. I am still left with an imperfection in the tint and the mark on the door seal where the window cracked but I have no more energy to give to this situation. In summary, House of Shades' mishandling of my concerns and lack of transparency turned a simple service into a three-week nightmare. Avoid them if you value your car AND your sanity.

I wanted to love this business so bad. The owner is a younger black gentleman that needs to put more hands on his business and really hire quality employees. I have had the experience from hell. I tried to wait until my car was complete to write this review (so my car wouldnāt be purposely damaged⦠because at the level of service I received, I genuinely considered that may occur). HOS started on my car May 21st, 2024. It is now July 4th, 2024 and not only are my windows NOT COMPLETE⦠my original tints are stripped. I am riding around with 2 front seat tints and ZERO tints on rear seats or rear windshield. (photo attached). UNACCEPTABLE & UNREASONABLE⦠extremely UNFAIR to have my car which is a marketing tool for MY SMALL BUSINESS represent me like this. I would NEVER leave a 1 star review unless it was just totally unacceptable service. I had great interactions with the owner on IG where I came across his promotion for $99 tint. I HAD specialty tint on my car that only lasts a couple of years before needing to be replaced. I asked if his shop could strip my faded tint and install the film I had from my previous installation. (Trust me I would have just gone to that professional if I had not lost touchāit was an in and out custom job at my previous personās shop so I had NO IDEA what kinda mess I signed up for going to HOS). I came to HOS for a couple of in person consultations after our conversation on IG. I was excited to have my tints renewed, they were almost completely faded from red to chrome. I was set up with a gentleman, I believe his name is Anthony. He seemed like a pretty good guy. He gave me information about the process and what his plan was. Ok cool. So I sat in the very nice lobby with my work equipment. I was armed with soooo much patience AND gratitude for HOS taking time to do my custom tint job. TERRIBLE OUTCOME: Started on 5/21/24⦠Too much talking and not enough working. Too much weed aroma in the work area. I donāt know who was smoking but I certainly do not and did not want to smell it near my car. Whatever, itās legal so I ignored it for the sake of getting my windows finished. My custom tint was applied and Anthony said it looked bad and I needed to replace it. These tints are not readily available at just anywhere so I paid to have new film overnighted from NY. A week later I called to get an update or appointment and I was told he wrote down my number wrong. STILL NO APPOINTMENT. After 3 weeks- - he had a missed train, a death in the family, bad weather and just ātoo tiredā as excuses to why me, A CLIENT could not have the paid services completed. OVER 30 DAYS AND I HAVE NO IDEA WHEN FILM WILL BE APPLIED TO MY GLASS. Itās the 4th of July, a major national holiday out in the sun, and I just want to throw my car in the trash. Itās been turned into an embarrassment as I take my MARKETING TOOL to the Countyās Fair. SUGGESTION: - - SKIP IT! Tint your window yourself. Youāll have a better experience than me at least.

At first glance everything seemed fine but maybe 20 minutes down the road my tint started peeling off of the rear window and I noticed that there is also a slash in the tint as on my driver side rear window. I mean how much longer would it have made the process to re cut a new piece of film and put it on the window itās maybe 20inches in width and 8-10 inches tall And the mess that was left in my car was just blatant laziness.
