My car was broken into and my purse was stolen. The back glass of my mini SUV was shattered and I went with my insurance company recommendation to take my car to Joe Hudson because it would be faster and get my life back to normal. This happened on a Friday night and I was so stressed by Monday that I took the first appointment for what THEY, Joe Hudson, labeled an appointment for an “estimate” at 2pm on Monday. I took my car to them expecting an estimate. But they didn’t give me one that day. Michael walked me around the car and uttered some things they would probably have to do, and I asked the cost. He said they would have to work all that up. I asked how much the glass would cost and he said “probably a couple hundred”. I was prepared to leave and wait for an estimate by email because he wouldn’t tell me the total, like they needed to look further to get a total. And then he said, “hey since you’re already here and you have secured a rental already, why don’t you just leave the car here today.” I asked twice about the price and he verbalized a few things, but never printed out anything. He said someone could drive me home since I hadn’t come prepared to leave the car as I thought the appointment was for an estimate. Over the phone when I first called them a lady said they couldn’t begin work until next week.so I never expected they could do anything this week. I went outside and got in my car, waiting for the lady to drive me back to my rental car, and she suddenly appeared at my window with an electronic device asking me to sign paperwork. I assumed it was an agreement for them to keep my car until they could look it over and give me a firm estimate. The next day, I got a message from Michael about the cost. Not a few hundred, but $967 (just under my 1,000 deductible) which seems curious to be so close, but not fall under scrutiny from the insurance co. I called them immediately and told them not to do the work. But, He (Michael) was extremely pissed and said they had already started work and ordered my glass and that they would not release my car without payment in full. He said they had cleaned up the glass from the back floor, taken off tail lights to clean and other trim. Plus they had ordered the glass and I would have to let them finish the work and pay in full. I said no, do not do one more thing with my car. By that time I had gotten an estimate over the phone from another company for 1/2 of that $967 amount, sight unseen. He, Michael, threatened to call my insurance company saying I was in breach of contract with both them AND my insurance because I had taken a rental car already and they are required to start the work if you’re in a rental car? None of that made sense to me. Then the woman started chiming in on speaker phone about how they’re required to start work if I’m in a rental. They double teamed me on that phone call and definitely came across as threatening me financially if I didn’t let them finish what they started. I stood firm and he said he would have to call me back. A woman called me back and said they could let me pick up my car if I paid them the 3.7 hours of labor they had put in, $262.00 to vacuum the glass from the back floorboard, tail light removal R/I and trim R/I. Micheal also said over the phone that they had removed the broken window and cleaned in and around the seals. After I picked up my car, paid them $262.00 and took it to the other shop, the new shop told me that they didn’t see that anything had been done except vacuuming glass from the carpet. There were glass shards everywhere, the back glass had NOT been removed, nothing was cleaned. I won’t mention their name here, but my next review will be a positive one for them. I ended up paying $262 to Joe Hudson for something I could have done with a shop vac, and while I can’t prove the hours of labor they supposedly put in, the next shop just laughed about it. Funny, when I picked up my car from Joe Hudson today, they tucked in a copy of the preliminary estimate,, that I had never seen before today.

BAD EXPERIENCE: I trusted them and ended up paying extra 400 dollars to fix AC. I had my car repaired last winter after a collision with a deer. I suspected that the AC might have been affected, even though there was no visible damage. After the body repair, I asked the employees if they had checked the AC. They admitted that they hadn't done anything to it. I expressed my concern that the AC might leak due to the impact. They promised me a lifetime warranty and assured me that if the AC didn't work in the summer, I could bring the car back, and they would take care of it. I trusted them and left. As I feared, the AC stopped working two months later because it had zero freon. I took my car back to them, but this time their story changed completely. They told me I needed to contact my insurance directly and that they were not responsible for the issue. I had to spend several hundreds dollars to fix the AC, which could have been covered by insurance, if they inspected my AC in time.

I scheduled an assessment after being rear-ended, based on a recommendation from both my insurance provider and our car dealership. The appointment was set for the following week, and we drove 40 minutes to the location, only to be informed upon arrival that they were no longer accepting vehicles at that time. We were then advised to try a different location, which might be able to accommodate us. We had to contact that location ourselves and send over our estimate just to determine if they could schedule us for the following week. The way this situation was handled was highly unprofessional. We should have been informed ahead of time that the location was not accepting vehicles. Since that critical information was not communicated, the original shop should have taken responsibility for coordinating with the other location, ensuring they were taking vehicles and sending us that way immediately if so.

I put my truck in the care of Joe Hudson Collision Center. The job they did to it so far was to my satisfaction BUT one of their guys stole my amplifier and booster and when I questioned him about it he said he asked his guys and they don’t recall seeing it. Ask me to check at home. Really my head has been hurting so bad because he just shoved papers for me to sign as if it was no big deal. I ask did you leave my truck outside unlocked he said inside only so that inside job right. I’m asking around to find out if there’s any legal action I can take. Heartbroken experience.
