Took our vehicle in for an inspection, and accidentally provided them the wrong registration card (my fault) which messed up the inspection process. Monica and the technician were incredibly patient, called the DMV to get it sorted, and handled all of the paperwork to ensure I left with the correct inspection report. I was still out in under an hour. Has to be the best customer service I have received at a mechanic.

Front desk very kind, but the owner never showed up to perform a service I'd had scheduled and I waited over an hour. Edit in response to the owner: my name is private, so it makes sense you did not see my appointment. Here are some details. My visit occurred 8/2/23, I made an appointment through email with Monica which was confirmed 8/1/23. The tire pressure sensors were checked. A cause for the sensor light staying on was not found. I had scheduled a state inspection too. The owner didn't show. I was there from 10-11:30. Monica said the owner, who does the exams, is usually there around 9, but couldn't tell me why they didn't show or when they would show up.

I'm so grateful that I found this place. They are reliable, honest, transparent and cost-effective. As a woman, I appreciate them speaking to me in a respectful, straightforward way and not in a condescending tone like some other male mechanics do. That's a huge reason I keep going back. Also, they explain everything well, so you understand what they are doing and why they are doing it. I highly recommend. Plus, you will be supporting a local business in the process, which you can't go wrong with.

I would 100% recommend JR Auto Repair. They are professional, timely, and super cost efficient. I went in for routine maintenance and asked them to do a few different things to my car that I had read about - and they actually told me I didn't need most of them and I should just save my money! I find them to be the most trustworthy and professional (and non price-gouging) mechanics around! They always call after a diagnosis before doing any repair to make sure it's okay by you and that the price is good by you. Definitely won't go anywhere else from now on!

I couldn't have had a better experience in dealing with the mechanics at this shop. After reading the reviews I decided to give them a try. They are genuine and honest men. They were straight forward and very reasonably priced. I had to have my vehicle checked out after an accident and I was expecting the worst. Instead, I got a very fair estimate and an in-depth breakdown of what was wrong, what I needed get done vs. what could possibly wait, and what my options were moving forward. I felt very good about the exchange and I definitely see myself going back for any other work I need done in the future. I would recommend them to anyone looking for great work at a great price.

I was quoted $100 for a change of headlights on my car. The repair guy had no idea what he was doing kept asking questions about how to change the light despite us telling him the bumper needed to be removed at the time I made the appointment. They ended up charging me $200 for 2 hours of services because their team had no idea what to do and took them longer than expected. Last time I will be spending my money here. Should not be $200 for a simple headlight change. They will rip you off. If I would have known the real cost before getting the car fixed I would have went somewhere else.

Jorge was very professional and straightforward from getting me a quick estimate for the repair of my car all the way to completing the repairs and keeping me updated. Monica at the front office was by far the best in addressing all my concerns and communicating both with the technicians and with me. She kept me updated throughout the whole process and made sure i was aware of exactly what was happening with my car and when i could expect it to be ready. Overall it was excellent service.

JR Auto Repair is an honest company that does quality work, communicates, and gets it done quickly. These traits are very hard to find these days in some of these shops. I haven't trusted a mechanic for the last 8 years with my truck as I usually do all my work myself. This weekend my fuel pump quit on me, and while I'm new to the area, I didn't have the tools to fix it myself (have to drop the 26gal fuel tank). After getting about 10 quotes from shops around the area, I decided to go with JR Auto Repair because they were able to work with me and allow me to source my own part not forcing me into some warranty or expensive part that I don't need. Within 24 hours, my new fuel pump was installed and my truck fired right up. So far, no leaks or other issues but I don't suspect that will be a problem. Thank you JR.

Don’t look anywhere else! I had such a good experience today at JR Auto Repair. It was my first time getting an oil change here and thoroughly enjoyed the fast, kind, courteous service. Excellent experience with JR Auto from Monica who runs the office to the technicians working on my truck. Monica was very professional and helpful, she made me feel comfortable with the whole experience. She also was great at keeping me informed! I am new to the area and a friend recommended JR. i was hoping to drop my car off in the morning and pick it up end of day. The owner (didn’t catch his name) was super nice and friendly, told me a bit about the history of the place and a bit about himself. He told me it would only take 30 minutes to take care of my vehicle, and then it actually only took 20 minutes. It was a simple exchange, one I would rarely bother to write a review about. But it was just so easy, so friendly, so chill, that sometimes it’s worth praising the small things. I will definitely be back. I’ve found my Durham mechanic.

I came here to get my car fixed and explained the problem clearly from the start. When I came back later that day, they said they couldn’t fix it yet still charged me to “diagnose” the issue, even though it was the exact same problem I already told them about. Charging customers just to repeat what they already explained is ridiculous. No repair, no solution, just wasted time and money. This place clearly lacks real mechanical knowledge. If you can’t properly diagnose or fix cars, you shouldn’t be charging people or running a repair shop. Completely unprofessional experience.

I rarely write a reviews, but JR Auto really deserves 5 stars. I made an appointment to get my 2015 Ford Edge repaired. They were very easy to work with. I made an appointment and they started working on my car as soon as I took it in. They did not try to nickel and dime me and the prices were very reasonable. They finished ahead of time and called me through out the repair to ask me if I wanted additional work done. They did not press. I would recommend this shop to anyone in the Durham area.

Late review. But I had to say something after reading some of the recent negative reviews. A ways back my ex-wife had an issue with her Dodge Caravan and got quoted an outrageous amount for a repair by a shop in downtown Raleigh. I have a strong mechanical background and do almost 100% of my own vehicle repairs. So she called me and asked for my opinion. After reading the quote I disagreed with the work they recommended and the prices were insane. I decided to help her find a good shop for the current repair and any future needs. I figured Durham shops would be cheaper than Raleigh and did a web search. I came across these folks and the reviews looked promising. I recommended she try them and I went with her to check it out. OK. At first I was a little concerned because the shop was on the edge of a somewhat sketchy neighborhood. But we went on in anyway and I am glad we did; this shop was a gem to find. As so many have commented on, these folks were very polite and attentive to our needs. When they found that I understood mechanics they were not intimidated but explained some very likely scenarios and that they do real diagnosis before throwing parts at the problem and wasting your money. They found the issue ( bad fuel pump ) and had it fixed next day. The price of the repair was very reasonable. In fact if it had been my vehicle, I’d have had them do it for that price rather than doing it myself. Over all a very impressive experience. Real mechanics, who know how to accurately troubleshoot are a rare find. On top of this these folks are polite and reasonable on price. Highly recommend
