I was ripped off here. Came in to get a smog test because this is close to my home. I was told my car failed because one of the monitors wasn’t ready and I had to “drive more”. While telling me this, the gentleman wouldn’t keep eye contact with me. I don’t know much about cars so I took my car elsewhere and was told that they should have used the scanner to make sure the monitors were ready before doing the smog test. On top of this, they don’t do free re-tests. I called and Bruce was pretty rude telling me he “ didn’t care what I was told by someone else” and that he did nothing wrong. So yeah, one extra minute with the scanner and they could have told me my car wasn’t ready for the test. Great job ripping off the community!

Great job! I am new to San Diego and needed A LOT of work done on my 93 Toyota 80 series Land Cruiser. I was referred to La Mesa Auto by a competing mechanic who couldn't do the job. I took my truck there a week ago and got it back today...and it drove like a dream!! She hasn't fired up like that in years! I highly recommend La Mesa Auto for your vehicle

Highly recommend if you have a problematic vehicle. Bruce and staff are problem solvers. The main problem was fixed, and others that I didn’t even disclose (but knew about and was just living with) got some attention too. They won’t do more than you’re willing to have done either. Great communication.

My car was struggling to start. I called Thursday morning shortly after 8 and Bruce said to bring it in. They looked at it right away, diagnosed it in a couple hours and called me saying the battery needed to be replaced. It was done by 1pm and cost just under $300. Considering the cost of batteries and labor I think it was a fair expense. I'm just happy they took care of it so quickly, another place I called said they were booked till next Wednesday.

I went with my daughter to get her electrical system fixed. At first they told us that it would be no problem and the cost was some thing very reasonable. However after he gave us an exuberant price and expected us to just pay this with no further reasoning. We even went through a government program that Helps you with these types of issues and they knew that we were going through this government program and they basically told us that since we are going through that government program they will not do our car because the government program never pays. That is a flagrant lie. This business kept my daughters car for 4 weeks and said and did nothing! I called and called and we kept getting jerked around! This place is the WORST PLACE TO TAKE YOUR CAR FOR REPAIR!!!!

Courteous and straight forward service. I was sent here on a recommendation of a fellow RVer. and most of the time get overcharged. This place mainly works on cars but did for me what other RV repair places said they couldn't and at a very surprising fair price. I thought it would take a whole day and it only took 1/2 hour. Any negative reviews of this place I think may very well have been unfounded and unfair. Five stars in my book!!!!

We have given this place a lot of business. Just had a smog check on our car and it failed. We are currently a 1 income family and someone mentioned to me about CAP (Consumer Assistance Program). I called and asked Bruce if he knew about it and he said yea I have it posted in my shop. Unfortunately I wished he would have said something to us so we could have applied and maybe gotten some relief on our $300+ bill. He just said to me, "oh well its a done deal now" and I just said thanks a lot. You know sometimes, it would be really beneficial, if people would just go out of their way to try and help. You know that "Go Beyond" customer service. It doesn't cost them a dime to do that, but I will tell you, you surely would get some benefits for doing so. Free advertisement, word of mouth, more business etc. Needless to say we wont be going back. Didn't really care for his response and believe me, we just paid him over $2000 for repairs to this same car. I also want to state, I don't know about you, but I don't go in to places and have time to read everything they have posted in their facility, so for him to not have said anything about the program was just very disappointing. Plus one more thing, he went ahead and did the work without calling us for approval.

we've had the pleasure of knowing and working with Bruce for over a decade before relocating out-of-state and since moving, all we can ever say is why can't we find our LMAC out here. Bruce has gone out of his way to make sure our family vehicles were safe and functioning. listening to him explain needed repairs and options, I learned how to do things right. now, we just take our cars to the dealer. it costs a lot more but at least we know we'll find the same level of service and dedication that we appreciated in Bruce. this review is long overdue....

Traveling from out of state and had a coolant leak that needed to be assessed for needed repairs. Claudio looked at it quickly and made a good assesment of issue for me at no cost! The vehicle was reliable (just a slow gasket leak) for travel and could be fixed once I returned home. Appreciate his professionalism and honesty.👍👍👍

Negative Stars....Don't waste your time or money here. Bruce will talk all the good talk but not walk it. If you say his employees don't do a good job, Bruce will start getting aggressive towards you. You will try to call and talk to him to work with one another and he will just hang up. Not good business. Never excepts faults as a business owner. His auto care has put used/refurbished drive axels on my car after paying for new ones through a warranty company. They were after market non OEM parts. I had them redo the work and still trash. I purchased control arms to be replaced and his mechanic tightened them too tight and now the ball joints are busted and my car is undrivable. Bruce told me there is something else wrong with my car but couldn't tell me what. It was his own company's work that was the problem. Bruce does not care about his customers or quality work. I don't believe he knows what he's doing. Doesn't check on the quality work his guys are doing. I have a kid and family and now I can't drive my car I paid thousands to be fixed by them. Total trash auto repair place. Picture and video of lower control arm they just replaced a few months ago.

Terrible service, disrespectful, and unprofessional owner. Didn’t even distinguish the gas tank opener from the hood opener. Replaced a battery but did not reset codes and told me to come back. Why would I go back if he didn’t/couldn’t finish the job? And he was utterly dismissive. DO NOT GO HERE.

Not responsive and when he finally does get around to working on your car he’ll charge you for unnecessary diagnostic steps. Also did not replace all the bolts he took out!!

Bruce was great to diagnose my toyota tacoma truck for possible fuel pump repair BUT the diagnose showed it was my original master key was defective & needed to be replaced. I was so happy with the result and relieved it wasn't the fuel pump yay! Great customer service for sure 👍 I will be back & recommend him highly. His wife was really nice and it's family owned. Thanks again Bruce & Happy Holiday's to you and your family! 🎅🌲
