Since 2004 I used to use this business when they were located on el Camino. Unfortunately, a series of incidents started happening after taking my car there. I think they got too big to handle too many cars. They almost kill us when the "new" breaks they put in fail to work. Luckily, we just had gotten off the freeway and were able to stop near an isolated road. The owner didn't even apologize and denied it was their work even though they had been the only ones I had been taking my car too. Obviously we do not take our cars there anymore. I do not recommend this place at all.

Based on the positive reviews that I have read about Ma's Auto Repair I took my 2004 Honda Civic to their branch in Burlingame back in July due to an engine light warning on the dashboard. It turned out that I needed to have the thermostat, spark plugs and coils replaced. It wasn't cheap, but I was very satisfied with the repair at the time. A month later I noticed that the engine would vibrate lightly for a few seconds whenever I stopped the car followed by revs. Soon after the engine light came on and I decided to take it back to Ma's Auto but this time at their San Mateo shop. I left my car with Kevin for a couple of hours and after I returned, he informed me that the cause was a faulty coil. As this was still under warranty, he replaced all the coils for free and also mentioned that I was missing a cap for the coolant reservoir. He offered the option of replacing it but advised me that if they did they will replace the whole part and was upfront about the charges vs. buying the cap on my own to save money. I appreciated his honesty and felt that he had the best interests of his customers first. Sometimes things can go wrong and problems are not 100% fixed the first time, but a good business will take ownership of the problem and proactively resolve any issues and that's been my experience with Ma's Auto Repair. I had a great experience at Ma’s! I was down the street for a meeting when I noticed that the engine cap was loose and scrapping the road while I drove. I stopped by Ma’s and am so happy I did!!!! Percy helped me out and fixed it for me free of charge in no time. Forever grateful to Percy! Excellent customer service and genuinely cares about his customers. I will definitely come by for future repairs.

The mechanic team here is very good. I took in a 1998 Volvo S70 T5 to have its timing belt serviced. I received a call the day I dropped off the car with them telling me that it would take slightly longer than expected to finish the service, which was fine by me because I was expecting about a 24 hour wait anyway. When I received the car back, I can tell they sanitized the interior after working on it by the smell. In addition to the repair, they also told me some other issues that should be addressed in the future, mainly an oil leak that they found when checking the oil level. Apparently, my oil dipstick showed virtually no oil left in the engine, so they topped it up for me as well before I got there (charged me for the oil without asking, but it wasn't like it would've been good for me to drive off low on oil anyway so I didn't mind it at all). Several months ago, I had taken my car to a different mechanic shop who didn't catch any of the issues that Ma's mechanic team did, and I appreciate that they told me about these issues. And when asked, they said that if I get the engine cleaned, they'd investigate looking into what's causing the oil leak for free (unlike the previous mechanic shop which I went to who charged me for a diagnostic and found nothing). The only thing preventing me from wanting to rate 5/5 is the fact that the actual cost of the timing belt service was significantly higher than the initial estimate I was given (the difference wasn't as big as $500, but it was definitely more than I was anticipating). But because of the quality of service and all of the additional info they gave me on the condition of my car, I give them 4/5 and would definitely bring my car back in there for bigger and more labor intensive projects like a timing belt, PCV, or A/C service.

The go-to place for my Honda and BMW. The owner is a huge car enthusiast and loves Porsche. I'm handy around cars, but lack the time to deal with issues. Everything was fixed promptly and at a great price. They will not rip you off.

These guys are great! Super service, excellent prices, very clean and professional shop. I purchased tires online and they installed them for me, usually it's not a big deal but I purchased tires which were slightly different than mfg spec (harder rubber.) They took the time to understand the different - most shops flatly refused.

Kevin the owner and his crew have been taking care of my car now for 5 years. The staff know me by name by now and always treat me and my car with professional respect. I appreciate the attention to fairness, the cleanliness of the shops and the prompt scheduling. If something isn't just right, they are quick to get me in and get me repaired. I'm now a loyal customer and am confident I'll always get a fair deal.

I’d steer clear of this place if you own any engine vehicle. Extremely overpriced, and it’s quite evident they guess a diagnosis. Of course, the guessing takes place on YOUR dime. Not real mechanics, and overheard them mocking an elder customer who had an accent.

Ma’s auto service is definitely the best on the Peninsula. I take all my cars there for all my auto body and service needs. They recently replaced my wife’s passenger side view mirror, my father-in-law’s badly tinted rear window and they even fixed a terrible wiring job that happened over 10 years ago that kept giving me faulty indicator lights on my dashboard for free!!! That wiring job alone took a full day and it was free of charge! Ma’s is hands down, the best and they will for sure take care you and your car.

I had no idea automotive service could be good! When comparing the level of service I receive at Ma's and other repair facilities I have used, I felt it necessary to post a review for Ma's. The mechanical service I received has been wonderful. Diagnosing of a problem and determining a fix is always fast and reliable. The other aspect of auto repair is customer service. This is where I believe Ma's excels. When Ma's determined my 2016 Mustang Eco-boost required a new head gasket. My service adviser, Allen, presented me with a detailed list of all required parts and costs related to the job. I was informed throughout the process of status and given a due date which was when I received the car. I would highly recommend Ma's to anyone looking for fast, reliable service at a fair price.

It’s extremely hard to find an Honest, Trustworthy & Good Mechanics, if you need one, go to Ma’s Auto Body Repair & Service. My family, friends & coworkers has been taken all our vehicles to Ma’s since they were located Nextdoor to Ducky’s in San Mateo. That’s over 15years ago. We won’t take our vehicles anywhere else if we want honest repairs done right thats reasonably priced. Kevin is transparent with the details and always disclose what needs to be done before doing the work so the customer has the option to continue with the service. He guarantees his work to provide customers quality assurance. Recently I taken my 2016 Audi Convertible for new set of tires, water pump replacement (slow coolant leak) & Soft Top Protection Sealant applied along with Ceramic Coating for the paint. I got 4 new Michelin tires at a great price, OEM waterpump installed, Tune up & oil change, Ceramic Coating and Soft top sealant applied all done within few days before the rain arrived last week. My car looked and drove like it was brand new and the final cost was extremely reasonable. Thank you so much Kevin and team for always taking good care of our vehicles & I wanted to share a Real Review from an actual customer who has done business with you and acknowledge the excellent service Ma’s Auto provides. Kevin has been repairing my cars for decades and has my complete trust. I've never met a better nor more honest mechanic. The mechanics in his shop are amazing and he is amazing! One of the things I deeply appreciate is that he takes the time to explain exactly what's wrong with my car and he doesn't "talk down to me as a woman". Poor Scheduling and service coordination Services took double the expected time On the day of appointment they didn’t had the service on their schedule and for that reason they hadn’t ordered the parts for the service required! Made me drive one hour round trip to find out the customer service representative didn’t schedule or coordinated with their coworkers!
