These guys are some of the nicest people I've ever met. My car has been buggy as hell, and they have fixed every issue. I had to go to a different mechanic recently because my car died when I was in Madison, WI and they didn't connect my alternator right. They took care of it right away and didn't even charge me for it! Give them a shot. They're great!

I found myself needing an urgent repair on a Saturday afternoon for my car because my engine splash shield became completely dislodged and started dragging on the ground -- exposing the innards of my car. Luckily I stumbled across Tarang and his shop. Maks Auto Repair is a minority-owned, family/small business and they're as honest as they come. Tarang made me feel as if I were an extension of his family even though we just met. He is a local that represents Streamwood very well. They don't push products or service on you and will only tell you what needs to be done at a fair price. Tarang and his team didn't just repair my issue, they completely fortified my underbody. I haven't felt this confident about my car's health since I bought it from the dealer. I really wished I took a before and after picture. Please keep in mind that due to the labor shortage and this establishment being a small-business, there may be a short wait. However, rest-assured you will get the highest level of service and could guarantee that your best interests will be in their minds. I live an hour away from Streamwood but whenever I require auto work, I will make sure I call Maks for any future repairs. Highly recommend.

I wouldn’t suggest this mechanic to anyone at all. I had engine light came up. I called him and he said it will cost $180 for diagnostic and will be able to check it on Monday. I agreed to amount and got my car towed to Maks Auto on Saturday. I called him on Monday. They told me they were unable to check my car. Same answer on Tuesday. They finally got my car diagnosed on Wednesday and were telling me to make decision in minutes. They kept calling me through out the day. They weren’t sure if the engine was gone. They suggested me couple of items needed to be replaced and even after replacing those items they aren’t sure it will fix 100% of the problem. They are like if we put external parts then we will be able to know if anything is wrong inside the engine. If they came to know after replacing those suggested parts if something is wrong inside the engine then it is extra on top of what I would be paying. They told me opening the engine will cost $2000. I guess that would be equally to new engine cost. They were keep forcing me to spend 1600 bucks for nothing. Since, I didn’t agree to that solution they gave me another option after few hours where they can try just changing timing of the engine and few parts first. But again it won’t fix the problem. I asked them to give me few hours to make my decision since they kept calling me in middle of my work. After, I called them back saying I don’t wanna try any solution at this point just put the engine back however it was. Now, they told me they already try replacing few parts and timing of the engine and engine seems to run fine but I will still need to get additional parts repaired as was suggest earlier which will cost around 1600. I’m like I never agreed to changing any parts in the car. They are like how do we know if the engine is bad without changing the parts so we did. If you want you car back you’ll have to pay $180 + $250 for the labor + parts and at some point they told me I have to pay for putting engine back together and started telling me the phone is being recorded after 5,6 call being made to me. If the call is being recorded they should mentioned it at the beginning and they were recording call without my consent. Im like check your call recording I never mentioned changing or replacing any parts. He is like but you mentioned you would like to know if engine is bad or not so we replace the parts. I was already done with this guy. Next day, told him that I wanted car back as it was and don’t want anything to be done with this car he is like this call is recorded and if you don’t pick up your car today it will be $80 for storage. This guy was storing my car for 3 days and now telling me this. Basically, he wanted to rip us off one way or another.

T, the owner I dealt with is extremely knowledgeable about fixing cars, he walked me around under the car showing me the new shocks and struts and such he installed and the rusty, busted ones for comparison. He carries quality synthetic oil so I won't need to bring my own like I did to Jiffy Lube. His prices are very reasonable for all the work I had done. I will be going back there. 4/11/18 - I went back to Maks to get the oil changed and T inspected everything and found my brakes were thin and my bearings needed replacing. He showed me all the worn parts. It is good to know my car is in good shape now.

This will be my go to place for car repairs. T was super help and was able to ease my anxiety with my older car. He and his team looked the over everything from front to back, ensured my car was safe to drive and returned it to me in a reasonable time. They are short staffed which did extend the time of to repair my car by a day, but that didn’t hinder the quality of care for both the car and the customer.

Title: BUYER BEWARE: Extreme Price Gouging and Deceptive Practices My experience with Maks Auto Repair was a costly and infuriating lesson in how some businesses take advantage of their customers. I was charged astronomically more here than at reputable chains like Firestone, and I have the proof. After receiving a shocking bill, I decided to do my own research. I verified the exact part numbers the owner, T, claimed to have installed. To my disgust, the price for those same parts on AutoZone's website was literally HALF of what Maks Auto Repair charged me. I ended up paying double for parts alone, and that's before their outrageously high labor charges were added on top. I made the mistake of blindly trusting a neighbor's recommendation instead of shopping around for quotes. Please, do not make the same mistake I did. This business seems to operate on a model of overcharging customers who don't verify prices beforehand. Save your money and your sanity—go anywhere else. This was a very disappointing and expensive experience.

Simply one of the best repair shops I have ever used in my four+ decades of driving. I have a thirteen-year-old Dodge Grand Caravan that was suffering from multiple structural, mechanical, emission control and electrical issues. At my son's recommendation I took it to Maks. After picking the vehicle up I was astonished at how well everything worked, how much quieter the drive train was, especially during my daily commute on the expressway. Everything just felt better, smoother. The steering system, which had been vibrating and occasionally pulling to the left, now works great. There's more work to be done, but Maks took care of all the potential safety related issues and explained some things that could wait for a while to lower my repair bill (which was actually very reasonable.) HIGHLY recommended.

I have been chasing a noise on my daughter's truck. I drove in from out of state and replaced her left front strut. After the alignment, I discovered a different noise. I called Maks Auto Service late Friday afternoon. I asked if I could bring my daughter's truck in Saturday. They told me they were very busy but would try to look at it. When I arrived Saturday morning, they took me on a road test and cleared a service bay. They inspected my daughter's truck for the noise, verified the noise, and corrected it. After the work was performed, we went on another road test. Maks went above and beyond to not only diagnose the noise but to correct it. I am happy to know I can count on Maks to be there for my daughter when she needs anything for her truck. Thank you Maks for your help and helping a dad that can't always be there.

I called this shop for a pre-purchase vehicle inspection. The shop was short and he said he personally would look at it. He made time to do so. He spent time finding the carfax reports on the car and before even pulling it into the shop pointed out safety issues with the vehicle. He spent time asking me about my family and car I'm looking for and gave unbiased advice. Not many car shop owners will spend this amount of time for free to just be genuinely helpful with their years of knowledge and expertise. Much gratitude to this car shop.
