My family and I were on hire 9 of a12 hour road trip and had our Honda Pilot break down around 1am. We lucked out in that it was right next to the dealership. My husband called right away at 7am and they were able to work us in and not just diagnose but repair the vehicle and got us back in the road by 1pm! We only lost 1/2 a day from our vacation. Thank you!

I will not return to McGrath Honda in Elgin. The service was awful. I had to make constant phone calls to find out about my car. Their price for a battery was double of a nearby dealer.

I had a very bad experience with them. I bought a used 2016 Honda Odyssey from this dealership and it took them about a month for them to get it ready. I went back three days after we signed the deal and one of the salesman Joe by name, was trying to tell that I can't cancel the deal even with the fact that the car was still with them. But when I reminded him about the three days law (you have right to cancel any contract within days if you change your mind), he then offered to get things done and also added some incentives. To the main point before you go to any dealership please always do your home work and never be in a Hurry. Joe all along was just con salesman, all he is after is his commission. He offered me a 5.99 interest rate and when I told him I was not interested in the car because I have an offer for 2.99 and Honda was also offering 1.99, he then said O' let me check with another lender. People you need to avoid at this dealership Kevin and Joe.

Expensive and LONG wait for routine oil change. Made an appointment for a routine oil change and tire rotation. Ended up waiting TWO HOURS for this service to be completed. This was the second or third time the wait for an oil change (with an appointment) has been excessive. We were charged $132 for the oil change "B SERVICE" which included a bunch of other inspections on top of the oil change. We just wanted an oil change and tire rotation. Additionally, on a 2018 vehicle with under 40k miles, they wanted to sell us $2100+ in other services including $500 for a trans fluid change and $300 for rear brake pads. I can't justify going back here for service on my Honda. I feel like we're getting ripped off and they don't honor their service appointment times.

I scheduled appointment for oil change and tire rotation. I went there on time for service and they told me to wait about an hour. Guess what! They took more than two hours. They charge me over 100 usd even after I use 15 usd off coupon. Then I went home and suddenly I noticed that they have not replaced label for next service due. I am not going to waste my gas to go again over there....they are just lazy and squeeze money out , charge whatever....I wouldn't recommend for service...go to Crystal lake honda...I figure that they cost less.

I had an outstanding service experience at McGrath Honda in Elgin. Luis Varela went far above what he had to do, calling Honda directly to get consideration for an unexpected and very expensive repair. Most people would say too bad or give a blank stare, but he immediately went to work for me. The whole crew was very professional and helpful. I'm grateful.

I have had issues all year with McGrath both sales and service, lying about vehicle history before purchase, refusing warranty claims and more but today was the final straw. I needed a software update recall, verified on the phone it would take an hour, 2 tops because I would have 2 under 2 with me. Got there and the Service Lead or Manager, I believe his name was Luis, said it would be a few hours, I clarified I had an appt and he said it was a minimum 2 hour wait to get the car back with an appt. What is the point of scheduling an appt if it’s not going to be evaluated at that time.

Service seemed to prioritize other vehicles over mines but the waiting room was spacious and I was comfortable. This was my first experience here so hopefully the next one be a little quicker.

Service advisors, Management, Sales Team and their Managers...... what a GREAT location to get service needs and/or a new vehicle. Perfect location right off 90 and Randall Rd. Everyone I've met is kind, upbeat, wanting to assist you in some sort of way. One thing I'll tell you is you will leave happy. Come on down and see for yourselves. They will welcome you and listen to what you need. In the Service Department your satisfaction is their overall goal. Fix it right the 1st time. I've been back many times and will continue to be back in the future. Thanks to the McGrath family in Elgin, IL.

If you want endless marketing by phone, email and text go here. They don't honor your request to unsubscribe from anything. This place is only interested in giving you the runaround. Sure it's the dealer, one could call this a premium experience, I might even pay more for some of the conveniences, and I have. When they start charging $135 for 3 wiper blades (inserts no less) and telling you to replace brake pads at 50% life, they are in it to empty your wallet. Every business is around to make money, but do it the right way! Don't get me started on the endless emails and calls about wanting to buy your used car, but hey they added a guy when you pull in to ask to buy your car BEFORE you even get your service advisor to meet you! STAY AWAY.

Evaporator core went bad on a 5 year old car and they want to charge $500 just to look at it. (Need the diagnosis from Honda for Honda care to get involved even though I’ve already had it diagnosed for a 1/3 of the cost). Told them this isn’t something that should happen on a newer car and their response was “not necessarily, we’ve had quite a few cars in with this problem.” I’d say there is a defect with Honda then. I’ve had 2 Honda accords before this and planned to buy more in the future but this will be my last one.

Bad experience with Service department. I recently dropped my car off for an AC diagnostic. Not sure they did anything I paid them for and ultimately received my car back with pieces not fully reassembled and to top it off, my blower motor was now broken too. The kicker? They won't even fix it for me! Offered me a price to have it fixed afterwards and now won't contact me to make things right. Essentially I paid to have my car broken more than it already was. Overall very disappointed and am not happy with my service advisor Tony who has made the process even more difficult by not maintaining good contact with me. I purchased my car here originally and have had it serviced here several times but am almost certainly never going to return now. My advice - avoid this place if at all possible. They are rude, overpriced, and don't care about their customers.

I took my Honda Civic into McGratch Honda of Elgin's Service Center to fix a voluntary recall concerning the AC condenser and compressor. After diagnosis it was confirmed the work would be covered. They told me that there was a leak in my evaporator that was not covered. The manager claimed he would see if they could get it covered under a good faith warranty but we never heard back. They replaced the 2 parts and told us they could not refill it because it was illegal to do so with the evaporator having a leak. They quoted us $3,500. I didn't have the money so I spent months sweltering while I saved up. Today I took my car into a local mechanic who found the evaporator is in great condition with no leaks. They refilled it and the AC is working perfectly. I spent months driving around uncomfortably for no reason. It's disgusting to know that McGrath intentionally lied. Lied about the leak, furthermore then lying about it being illegal to fill, using fear tactic and necessity in an attempt to force me to pay $3,500 for them to fix nothing. BEWARE ALWAYS GET A SECOND OPINION BEFORE GETTING ANY WORK DONE BY THIS DEALER.

I’m a four time Honda owner with three of them bought here. They’ve had my car since Friday with a “check engine” issue. I was told this morning, Monday, that although expensive ($1,900!) it would be done today. I verified at 3:45 they said yes come get it. Uber’ed over to the store and I have been sitting here at least ninety minutes. The service writer came out, blew smoke up my tail about the system needing burping, handed me off to someone else and took off for the day. It’s almost 6:00 pm and I am still here.

Misleading Promises and Wasted Time: I contacted this dealership to ask about the Honda Prologue, and that turned out to be a major mistake. Their sales team immediately began calling me multiple times, promising they’d match any offer I received from another dealer if I sent it to them. After I shared the competing quote, they confirmed they could match it. I even called again to double-check, and their representative assured me there would be no surprises and that they were transparent. Based on that, I drove an hour and a half to meet them. When I arrived, I waited over 40 minutes before anyone spoke to me. Finally, a floor representative acknowledged the quote I had sent—only to inform me that they didn’t have any cars available. No prior notice, no apology, just a complete reversal of everything they had promised. This experience felt like a bait-and-switch tactic. It’s a textbook example of a dealership that prioritizes profit over integrity. If you’re looking for honesty and reliability, I’d strongly recommend looking elsewhere.

Very friendly, outgoing, helpful, caring, attentive and accommodating team all around. The Showroom is clean, spacious, attractive, and well maintained, and the coffee bar is legitimately TOP NOTCH!!! ☕👍 Thank you and am grateful for the complimentary car wash and diagnostics when I visited for service. I recommend and am thankful for a dealership who cares for and follows up with their consumers 🫂🤟

Sold me a used car with a defective engine, did not disclose any of the issues that the car had when it was purchased, ranging in the thousands of dollars in repairs. Never buying a car from a McGrath dealership ever again. I have only had the car for about 3-4 months and have only driven 1500 miles. Edit to Response: First off, you didn't "allow" me to take the vehicle to a mechanic. I took it to one after I purchased the vehicle. Second, going through all of the documentation there were NO disclosured issues such as the alternator, tie rods, and broken piston rings. Your "discount" was appreciated but still paled in comparison to your 7000$ quote for a new engine. If you knew of these issues before selling it, why the hell wouldn't you fix any of them? Seems like negligence to me, or you did know and decided to get one over on an unsuspecting customer.
