Team JoshH came out for my 1st cleaning. My pool is crystal clear. I love these guys. The are extremely courteous, professional and very helpful. Thier in store water analysis and treatment recommendations are minimalist and well informed. A friendly neighborhood store that treats customers personally. They take time to get you what you need not just hand you a machine generated report. My pool was crystal clear and perfectly balanced 3 days from opening.

Nice folks here. But they don’t all seem to know the drill. We went in to get a new spa cover, told them we would need their help with measuring our tub. They said they’d call us to set up an appointment to come measure it. Never called. I called back, they said they’d send me an email with the appointment info. Never sent it. Finally I called again and was told they wouldn’t measure until we picked out and paid for a lid. So we did that, and now they’re finally going to come measure our tub to make sure the lid fits properly. But the confusion and miscommunication amongst several of their staff members has meant a frustrating and unnecessary delay in getting what we need. In the end I think we will probably get a good lid and I expect it will fit just fine. But Monarch definitely needs to fine-tune its staff training and customer service.

Just recently we had trouble with a greenish pool after the high heat weekend—they came out and did an extra scrub and cleaning on Thursday and then did their regular pool cleaning on Friday and the pool is baby blue for the holiday weekend! Anthony & Sylvan of Chantilly, VA built my pool in 2017 but I decided to use a local Stafford company, Monarch Pool Care, Inc., to provide opening, closing and weekly service for the pool. The reasoning to use a local company was correct but the choice of Monarch was not. Monarch is a former Mom and Pop pool service company that has grown too quickly resulting in a diminished ability to service their customer base. They have also gotten greedy. From 2022 to the proposed contract for 2023, they increased weekly cleaning fees by 13.4% and included an unwarranted contract surcharge of $200. I pushed back on these fees and Monarch rescinded their contract proposal. Monarch does do an adequate job with closing, opening and weekly cleanings. However, when equipment breaks or enhancements need to be added (which happens with a pool), they are slow to respond or do not respond at all. They overcharge for replacement parts and often are incapable of making the repair or enhancement. My primary frustration with their service is the very difficult task of communicating with them – almost all communication is ignored and it takes multiple tries to get their attention. I had a two-year persistent problem with my LED pool lights, Monarch incorrectly charged me for replacement lights that were under warranty, the problem persisted and, clearly, they could not fix them. I eventually asked Anthony & Sylvan to fix the lights. This issue resulted in excess charges in the thousands. I get the impression that Monarch is not staffed at proper levels (for management or employees), they do not train their personnel properly and they are simply overwhelmed. I tolerated these issues because I recognize that demand for pool services has exploded and supply has not kept up. I was relieved when Monarch rescinded their contract offer for 2023 forcing me to look elsewhere because problems with their service were increasing. Ruth and Len Garavalia, the owners of Monarch Pool Care, Inc,. are out of their depth and not up the task of managing the company and providing quality service to their customer base. Do not be fooled by awards of “quality excellence” – customers are constantly bombarded with requests for endorsements which is annoying.

Just had a new variable speed pump installed by John, and couldn't be more pleased! My old pump was going out, and Monarch squeezed me into their schedule so that I didn't have to suffer too long. John was friendly and professional, hooked everything up really nicely, asked me where I wanted him to put the controller, and took care of it. He walked me through setting up the app and showed me how to create the schedule so that the new pump could go into low speed during the evenings, which is so cool! A big thank you to John and all the awesome team over at Monarch!

We have used this store for our pool needs for a few years now. When in the store we are always greeted with a smile and everyone we have spoken to have seemed nice and knowledagble. We recently inquired about a replacement pool and we were put on a list back in April/May for someone to come and get us a quote, we have not heard from anyone in a few months so we decided to call and try to inquire where we are in line, after many attempts on calling and leaving messages we finally reached someone on the phone who was supposed to check and call us back, after over a week went by with no call back we tried to call the store again and left more messages and no one called us back so we were in the area and I decided I was going to stop in, I spoke to someone who advised they were waiting for someone to get back to them and would call me back, I finally received a call back within about an hour or 2 telling me that unfortunatley they cannot help me as they do not come to my area and told me something about cant do business in my county, now mind you this entire time they have had my address and everything and never told me that months prior when I inquired. Now I know the laws and about licenseing as I own my own business myself so I knew it was not 100% true and then told me they would need to pull permits and they cant where I live due to not having a license. Not sure why a permit needs to be pulled as all we needed and wanted was a replacement pool, we already have it permited and approved and just needed to purchase a replacement pool. I was also told they are not allowed to even install a pump on my pool due to not having a license in my county, but was told that I of course can still purchase my products from them but they cant help me further then that. So they are ok to take my money but wont help install anything I need. I was very shocked and thrown back by what was going on and can't believe after all the times I have been in there to give a small business my money this is what happened. I feel others need to know what I just encountered as a customer.

In April of this year (2018) I purchased a home listed as having a pool. I had zero experience with owning a swimming pool so I called Monarch Pool Care to complete an inspection of what I had gotten myself into. Although the busy pool season had started the owners, Ruth and Len, were able to fit me in. Len came out to assess my situation and when he pulled back the so-called pool cover I realized the home came with a cesspool (see pic) not a swimming pool. While I was disgusted by the green, soupy mess, Len assured me it was not the worst he had seen or worked with and that Monarch Pool could get it back to looking great in no time. He let me know they would repair and salvage whatever they could, so I could save money and completely replace whatever needed to be replaced. I decided on complete removal and replacing of the lining, adding heater, pool light, upgrading the sand filter, the pumps, and salt water chlorination system, etc. and my project was assigned to Service Manager Fred and his team. Len even helped me find a reliable electrician for the necessary electrical upgrades. When all of the work was completed I had a beautiful blue swimming pool. I tested my water at Monarch and followed all of their recommendations to keep the water balanced, clear, and beautiful all summer. The associates I interacted with in the store, Dayna, Mary, and Darrell are very knowledgeable and friendly and didn't mind my newbie questions and inquiries. The store is always clean, welcoming, and well organized. In my haste to get rid of anything that reminded me of the pool's previous condition, I tossed the old "pool cover" and did not know what size cover I would need to replace it. Ruth and Len came right out to measure the pool and provided different pool cover recommendations. When I closed the pool Fred and his team delivered the new cover and did a wonderful job of closing the pool. Now the only thing green about the pool is its cover. Thank you to Ruth, Len, Fred and the guys, Dayna, Mary, and Darrell for a great first time pool ownership experience. I look forward to seeing you guys next pool season. Thank you x 1 million!!!
