I came in after having a mysterious stall on Highway 17. They refused to engage unless I first paid a $75 fee to hook up my car to the computer. When I asked very politely, what might be the possible outcomes of the diagnosis, they said "there are many possibilities, and it is against our policy to discuss them until you've paid." It appears that other reviewers have had great experiences with them, so mine might be a one off. In my case, though the entire interaction came off as predatory. I went across the street and had a diametrically opposite experience, where they warned me of a possible charge for a diagnostic, but when it turned out that they couldn't help me, they simply refused to take any money.

I would be wary of this shop. A while ago as a naive college student, I brought my 2002 Lexus ES300 in for hydraulic fluid leakage and steering issues. Paid $100 for an inspection, and was quoted $2,000 to replace the entire steering system. Turns out the actual problem was much simpler - I had been using the wrong type of hydraulic fluid (bad advice from an Autozone employee nearby). After doing some research myself, I simply drained the incorrect fluid and refilled with the proper ATF. Problem completely solved, no parts needed. For $100, a proper inspection of a car with hydraulic fluid leakage and steering problems should have included checking or asking what fluid was actually in the power steering reservoir. It's a basic visual check (or literally just asking) that should be part of any power steering inspection, especially when I'm literally there because of fluid leakage. Any competent mechanic should have: Checked what fluid was in there Asked what I had been using Said "here's your problem - wrong fluid, let's flush it and see if that fixes it before replacing anything" Instead, he basically lifted the car up and told me “woah see that leak? You want your car to last long? You gotta replace it.” Then jumped straight to recommending expensive replacement work without explaining anything. That was his ‘inspection.’ I can't say whether this was an honest mistake or upselling, but either way, I paid for a diagnosis that completely missed what was wrong. Would not recommend for diagnostic work. He was also very rude. I will give 2 stars if it was an honest mistake.
