The overall inspection and process was great and fast. The dude who helped me was kind and nonchalant. My issue was the first man who I spoke to about getting my inspection done. He was so bothered despite approaching me when I pulled up. I felt so unwelcome that I seriously considered going somewhere else.

I love this spot! I've done inspections, oil services, and tire issues. In particular Gonzalo is fantastic and has go out of his way to be helpful with various car issues on multiple occasions. I HIGHLY recommend Oil Works, they are reasonably priced, knowledgeable, and friendly.

Professional and friendly service at a fair price. I showed up pretty close to their posted closing time but they got my car serviced quickly and I was on my way.

Told skid plate needed to be taken off - $10 charge - in order to reach Oil Filter. FALSE!!!! And I asked them to take this charge off, but totally unnecessary to take it off AND they didn't even try to put it back on correctly. They jammed it on out of place so one screw could not be tightened - BUT they just left it that way. I had to take it off, start over and do it correctly when I got home. WILDLY INCOMPETENT! Terrible approach. What the hell did they think was okay about taking off part of the truck for NO REASON and then not putting it back correctly. I get the constant upsell BS, but this is way worse. Never returning.

I can’t attest to most experiences had here, but there’s a guy with tats, beard, and a clean head…that’s the guy you want to keep. He was about to walk off and go home since his shift was about over, but he delivered his last moments of the day to do right by me; which tells me this guy knows the struggle and takes care of the people in his life. I’m not saying come bother this guy at his last seconds before he is free, but If he’s a reflection of the establishment, this is the place you want to come to.

I have been coming to Oil Works for years, and I left today feeling very upset and frustrated. I was charged $119.20 for an oil change that has been $84.99 for my past visits. This same $84.99 price is still advertised on their website, and it clearly states that the service includes up to 5 quarts of oil. My car has always taken 5W-30, and I have receipts showing they have always used that oil with no extra fees. This time, however, they used 5W-20 instead. Regardless of whether it is 5W-30 or 5W-20, both are standard synthetic oils and do not justify any kind of special or additional charge. When I asked for an explanation, I was told that my car had supposedly been taking the wrong oil this entire time. That does not make sense because they are the ones who have serviced my car for years. I also reminded him that the 84.99 oil change already includes the oil. He then told me that only covers up to 5 quarts and claimed my car needed more than 5 quarts. That is not true because my Hyundai Kona 2021 sel uses at most 4.2 quarts, which is less than the limit. On top of that, the way the employee explained it came across as condescending, almost as if he was trying to make me feel dumb for questioning the charge. The whole interaction felt misleading and scammy, especially since the facts about my vehicle and its oil requirements are very clear. This extra charge was added with no clear or honest explanation. I am extremely disappointed, and after this experience, I will not be returning.

I got a mail-in offer for a discounted oil change service, looked over the reviews and everything seemed to be good. However, I experienced the absolute opposite. I brought them my car, that had No issues (no check engine lights, tire light, ect). I drove out of their parking lot and my car *IMMEDIATELY* started having issues. The message center showed I needed to park my car and turn it off. I was able to make to the side street next to In&out then my car shut off. I called the shop to tell them what’s happening then they sent the curly headed man with the nasty attitude. He looked at the oil dip stick and under the car then shrugged his shoulder saying “ma’am I don’t know. We only changed the oil”. I told him that my car had no issues and they must have messed up somewhere. Instead of being remotely open to checking out my car further he got defensive then left. I called the shop and so did my aunt demanding a manger. We were told the manager would reach out when he came in at 12:30, I never heard back from anyone. So fast forward, I have my car towed to the Toyota North dealership where they find a part that was broken and it caused another part of the engine to remain open because there was broken pieces of plastic causing it to malfunction. I explain to the mechanic at Toyota about my oil change experience and they agree it is very much possible that during the oil change this car part that broke could have happened during the oil change. I have filed complaints with the BBB, Texas Attorney General, Austin city courts, made a report with the Texas DMV and will continue looking for all places to file complaints and make reports. That day I repeatedly asked for assistance and for them to just look at my car to see what possibly could have happened to cause it to literally turn off and not work but I was met with refusal and defensive behavior, being told they have no way to look over my car. Sure, there’s so many good reviews but the experience I had was so insane and unprofessional.

They were so great I got my wife's car inspected and the oil changed then came back an hour later to get my oil changed. Both times they were fast and the waiting area is comfortable and quiet.

Warning don’t let these guys pull your filters without your permission. They pulled the intake filter introducing garbage into the AC fan resulting in a racket when I use the AC. Now I’ll have to take it to a dealer to disassemble the fan and remove the garbage. Not a great experience.

Avoid this shop. The changed my oil and didn't screw the drain bolt properly and oil leaked everywhere. They also charged me $45 to change my cabin filter. When I noticed and issue with ac and opened to look I saw it was completely crumpled up and he left a piece of paper blocking airflow. When I took it in to show them they wouldn't refund me because he said I took it out myself. Complete joke. 9 Years of taking my cars here ended because of one bad employee and inability to hold him accountable.

Very hospitable and they do great work. I got there without an appointment for an emissions test and left no less than 30 minutes later. If you’re lucky you might get to see Duke, the cutest and friendliest little dog! Would definitely recommend.

I've changed my vehicle's oil and I've taken it to many places to have it changed. Oil Works Lube & State Inspection Center is the best place for oil changes. Not only are they fast, but they are thorough. Every employee that I've encountered there is friendly. I recommend them for quick and quality oil changes. Still the best. Brought both our family's vehicles in this past week and Oil Works provided quality service on both accounts. Thanks again!

I went in with a coupon for a $65 oil change. The worker tried to tell me that my car's oil tank was too big and the coupon wouldn't cover it. I looked it up online and the tank wasn't too big, so I told him that and he said "okay" and pulled my car in. He then rang up the oil change and came back to tell me it would be $100+, even though he previously told me I could use the coupon. When I asked him why he said that was the only option it gave him for the "specific type of oil change my car needed". It was just confusing and obvious he was just trying to get me to pay a crazy amount for an oil change, so I just said I didn't want to do it for that price and went home. A week later, my fiance took my car in and the same worker helped him and gave him no problems. He was in and out and was charged the $65 for with the coupon... TLDR: if you're a girl, beware, they will try to scam you :)

They were great! My lil change was super quick and a great price. The guy that helped me was kind and helpful with some advice with questions I had. Also, walked over to Lazarus to chill while my car was there which was a great time and so easy.

Been coming here for years. Gene johnson garage was in charge and it was great. They sold to someone new and it’s awful. The team is nice however charging me 10$ to take a skid plate off is a hidden fee you didn’t tell me about. You charge for an oil change but only for a certain about of oil and not the full amount? Luckily Gene Johnson will still do oil changes at the garage and they will be honest About it. Tommy has been treating customers with respect for years and then yall come in and try to make it better? Can’t. You can message me directly but don’t comment on this saying you value customers…because you don’t. Then you send us a text saying to leave you a good review so that we can help your business ? No. That’s trashy and so are you.

My go to for oil changes and any top ups. They are also amazing at giving advice for future maintenance and are very down to earth and friendly mechanics. Thank you so much! (There's a reason my parents recommended this place a few years back after they've been in Austin for 30+ years)
