One word summarizes my experience and lasting ramifications with Peterson Automotive & Diesel; DISASTER. I brought my E350 into Peterson not running with contaminated fuel, a dirty fuel tank and bad fuel pump. Peterson said they would drop and clean out the fuel tank, decontaminate and repair the fuel system and replace the fuel pump. Additionally they said there was a problem with the glow plugs and recommended replacing the relay that powers the glow plugs, engine control module and transmission control electronics. After waiting TWO MONTHS and paying $2300+ the Peterson Automotive‘ service’ was complete, or so they said. Only now (16 months later) is it clear how poorly I was serviced by the incompetence of this shop. 1. I paid to have the tank dropped, cleaned out and fuel system de-contaminated. This was not done effectively, causing the failure of two more fuel pumps ($1300 & $3300) due to ongoing contamination. Once the system was properly cleaned and de-contaminated (during the installation of the third fuel pump) the fuel system performed as expected. 2. The glow plug / ECM power relay Peterson installed as a replacement for the OEM relay was wrong. This resulted in the eventual destruction of my E4OD transmission and torque converter and possibly the ECM as well. In my nightmare of an experience, Peterson Automotive & Diesel does shoddy work. Two months to complete repairs? Outrageous but I lived with it. Incompetent, ineffective and improper repairs, UNACCEPTABLE. Your “repairs” cost me over $7500 to correct and months of downtime for me, my business travels and my E350. I looked to Peterson for solutions to my problems and ironically they created more than they solved. I think it’s fair to say I won’t be back and hope this stands as a warning to all others who might be considering Peterson Automotive & Diesel as a trusted repair shop.
