I have been using this shop for years for small work. Local word around is avoid them like the plague but they are the only ones in the area so for things like u-joint pressing its my only option. Follow up: In response to my review they called me and inquired about my dissatisfaction. To their credit it's a good first move. Spoke with Pat and he made a sincere effort to amend the situation so for that I have modified this post. The work has always been satisfactory and timely albeit expensive but as stated, not to many machine shops to call on.

One of the few places left in town to get cylinder head machine work done. They give me the best service and pricing compared to the others. This shop is a 30 minute drive for me, but I keep going back because the others just aren't as friendly and reasonable.

My 2004 Grand Cherokee V8 sucked a valve seat at about 160k miles. I loved my GC and didn't want to go find another since it was still in great shape. I talked to one other shop about rebuilding the engine but I wasn't impressed. Pyramid came recommended so after talking to Roger and Allen, and visiting the shop, I decided to go with them even though their price was higher. Working with Allen on this project was a joy. He is a very nice gentleman who pulls no punches and doesn't try to nickel and dime you. They did a great job rebuilding the engine and putting everything back where it belonged. We had a couple little issues which they quickly rectified. The engine is now broken in and runs great, very strong. I also had some A/C issues which they fixed for me. It's a bit of a drive for me in Clearwater to go down to St. Pete but worth it to know they'll do a good job. I highly recommend them. UPDATE: With about 30,000 miles on the new engine it definitely is broken in. Runs even stronger and better on gas. BETTER than a friends Honda Ridgeline. Very happy with the way this new engine runs!

I was able to walk in with a used cylinder head I bought off EBay that had damage around the combustion chamber and walk out with a repaired/usable cylinder head in 2 hours. Very fair price for the speed and quality service. Highly recommend! ๐ช๐ผ Edit: Years later and the cylinder head is still going strong. Thank you guys!

Terrible experience using this company to repair a truck. This place is the classic unethical mechanic that misleads and lies to you in order to rack up a huge bill, never actually resolving your problem. A total of 3 trips to Pyramid to consistently repair an AC system, and then it was the serpentine belt that was broken, and then the compressor. Upon getting the vehicle evaluated by 2 other mechanics it was confirmed these items were not broken. A more reputable auto repair shop fixed the problem for $160 instead of the almost $2000 Pyramid wanted to charge to repair unbroken items. This was also after I had already paid them $1200 in completely unnecessary repairs for things that were not broken.

I went to have a bearing pressed at the machine shop and Pat took care of me giving me fast, professional and friendly service. He went above and beyond to give me advice and direction that helped me fix my jeep and saved me money. This is the kind of place that takes care of our community. I am thankful you have been a โgo toโ for many years! Thank you!!

These guys work purely on estimates without doing the appropriate research first. The estimate will be okay, but the labor costs will be the root of your problem. Your vehicle will be taken apart and they will tell you it is another issue deeper in the vehicle and give you a ridiculous new estimate which is also subject to increasing. You may decide at this point that you want them to stop where they are and put the vehicle together as you are at a total loss without the funds to continue due to the constant estimate increase. They always find some reason to charge you extra. Well, the worst part of Pyramid automotive is that if they take your vehicle apart they will still charge you the original estimate to put it back together if you decide to do that instead. Most shops would do this for free, but Pyramid automotive will not do this. Dealerships take vehicles apart in a diagnosis and still put everything back together for around $300. Pyramid charges you the estimate still even without doing any true repairs. You will end up paying way over the original estimate in most cases, but I think the worst part is how they aren't fair on pricing. They practically did a diagnosis on my vehicle, and charged way more than the dealership would. You will end up paying roughly $1500 without them doing anything real. They also forgot to include some parts when I had the vehicle taken to a scrap yard. Thankfully one of the employees came out with a cart of parts real quick saying they forgot to put them up. Atleast they are somewhat honest. Anyways, this place charges way over what a dealership would cost to do the same thing. You are better off avoiding them if you have a serious problem aside from needing parts remachined to factory specifications. Where any other company would have put the vehicle back together instead of charging twice, this company will not do that and use it as a means to keep you paying the full amount. That is what they won't tell you is that you will be paying the exact same labor charge that it took them to pull the engine apart which is ridiculous considering they never went further. Be absolutely sure you have any money before wasting your time at a borderline scamchanic

Did a phenomenal job rebuilding/sourcing parts for the heads on my 350 small block. After a top end rebuild my suburban is running better than ever. Pat and the whole crew was extremely helpful and super professional. Reasonably priced and clean shop. Highly recommend.

This tucked away automotive, light truck, medium truck, heavy truck, and equipment repair shop is fantastic! I drive a commercial bus, my company uses them for repairs, and maintenance. They are always friendly, timely, and do a great job. Iโve sent several friends with privately owned vehicles needing major repairs which were handled without issue. They are full service, and have a machine shop.

Pat Brooks was GREAT! In the automotive world sometimes itโs hard to get a hold of people to get updates. Pat updated me several times about what was happening with the driveshaft and they worked hard to get it fixed and I donโt have to buy a new unit! Excellent service I highly recommend!

Subject: Request for Reimbursement โ Mishandling of My E350 Super Duty and Shop Conduct Dear Pyramid Automotive, I am writing to formally address the handling of my 2004 Ford E350 Super Duty at your shop. While I am not trying to escalate this into conflict, I feel itโs necessary to express the seriousness of the situation, as the decisions made while my van was in your care directly led to unnecessary financial hardship, damage to my property, and an overall lack of transparency that I believe needs to be acknowledged. After my van was lifted and the differential cover removed, I was verbally told a complete rear-end rebuild was needed, with an initial estimate of approximately $3,400 to $3,500. A subsequent estimate for a refurbished rear axle assembly was slightly less, but ultimately I was told I would need to spend $1,900 minimum to get back on the roadโwith no guarantee or warranty. I later learned that the actual issue could have likely been resolved with a much more affordable repair, possibly just replacing the spider gears and cross pin, a fix estimated around $400โ$500. Had I been offered that option transparently, I would have approved the repair and been able to continue using my vehicle. To make matters worse, the only documentation I ever received was a bill for $223, which did not include an itemized repair estimate or explanation. It merely stated that a rebuild was required, with no breakdown of what parts or labor were necessary. I was told the pinion had broken, but that too was never explained in writing. This lack of clarity left me without options, misled, and essentially forced into making a major financial decision based on vague information. The moment I declined to move forward with the full rebuild, my van was effectively pushed out to the back lot and left for dead. It sat with the window down, battery dead, and completely exposed to a heavy rainstorm, soaking the interior. When I eventually retrieved the vehicle, animal scat was present inside, and several tools I had stored were either damaged or missing. I have no way of knowing whether the missing tools were taken while the vehicle was in your care, but it was left unsecured and unsupervised in a way that invited damage or theft. This shows an unacceptable lack of oversight, security, and respect for customer property. To make matters worse, when I returned with a tow truck to recover the vehicle, I found myself locked inside your back lot with no assistance. When I called to be let out, I was told it was my fault for not having things resolved by 5:00 PM. At that point, I had already paid the $223 and was just trying to retrieve my van responsibly. I donโt believe that response was professional or appropriate. Due to the misleading repair estimates, lack of itemized documentation, and negligent care of my van, I felt I had no choice but to purchase another vehicle for $5,000โa decision I would not have made if given the opportunity to approve a reasonable repair. I am requesting reimbursement for the $223 charge, the $225 tow bill, and consideration for the losses and damage caused by the mishandling of my vehicle while in your possession. I hope Pyramid Automotive will recognize the seriousness of this matter and respond with fairness and professionalism. I am not seeking to damage your businessโonly to be made whole for a situation that should never have unfolded this way. Sincerely, Steve Invoice 30419

Had axel bearings done on 2006 Tundra. That's not an easy job from what I've heard. Quality work and saved me over $1,000 from the first mechanic I went to.
