Came here to get a e36 LSD rebuilt, they swapped the ring and pinion as well too boot. They also allowed me to drop the unit off and buy my own parts which in turn saved me a lot of money. They were also able to give me an extremely reasonable no surprises involved quote over the phone which no rear end builder in the south bay would. Everyone else said bring it in and well take it apart then quote you.

Brought in my complete diff for a ring and pinion gear change as well as putting in stronger axels and a true-track limited slip. 4 days later it's a done deal. (My baby got back now! C; ) Mike was straightforward with the estimate and stuck to it. They saved all my old parts and even hot tanked the diff per my request. The work comes with a 1 year warranty. Ended up costing 1/2 the price of a new one. All they do are rear ends and they stay busy. That should tell you something C:

I was concerned about gear noise on my Tacoma. Sara responded quickly on email, and despite being fully booked for weeks Adam was happy to spend 20min test driving and looking under my truck (and only a few days after I emailed). In the end it seems like the gears are OK. I offered to pay but they declined. Great experience.

Heard a lot of good things about this place so I had them swap out the rear end gears on my 1970 Plymouth Road Runner. Ricky and Adam work well as a team and went out of their way get the right gears on my priced possession.

Brought in my Ford F-150 last week. It had a bad sound and shaking from the rear end. The owner, Adam was great and provided good honest service. He changed the ring and pinions and bearings amongst other things and saved me a lot of time and money, especially when other automotive shops were saying, “it’s a big job and your better off replacing the whole rear-end,” which have cost more and been a waste. Thank you Adam and your crew. I am very happy. The truck feels like new. It’s great to work with true professionals and not people who just want to take the easy way out.

Had a rear axle bearing that was going out on my pickup so I called and spoke with Adam about replacing the bearing. He was very professional and explained what other issues they may encounter when working on my truck. This set realistic expectations for me and we scheduled a day and time for me to bring the truck to them. I'm a DIY guy and decided to do the repair myself. On the day that I was to drop off my truck I gave Adam a courtesy call to inform him of my decision and he once again was very professional. If in the future I have differential issues that are outside of my skills, this is definitely the place I will go. Happy Holidays to y'all at Rearend Specialties!

I recently brought my 2005 Ford Mustang into Adam and his team to build a race ready rear differential for the car (road course racing). More specifically, they installed a new set of Ford Performance 4.10 gears + an Eaton Trutrac, along with new carrier/pinion bearings and new axle bearings/seals. Adam took the time to understand my use case, and setup the diff to ensure longevity in a race stressed environment. I race other types of cars and do a lot of wrenching on my vehicles, and I could tell right away that Adam knows his stuff (we were discussing pinion backlash options). I will be bringing him more diffs to setup for my other race cars. Adam and the team kept me updated on progress, and spent time talking through the break-in procedures (yes folks, you can't just get in and hammer the car after you install a new diff). If you want a job done right by folks that know what they are doing, consider Rear End Specialties.

I took my jeep gladiator to get re geared with Dana spicer parts and they got it all done in one day. They gave me a great price, were fast, and did a great job. If I ever need to regear something else I know where to go, now a days it's hard to find a shop that is fast and good. It seems like this is one of the few shops out there that still has quality and is proud of their work. Look at their reviews I'm not the only one that thinks so

I strongly recommend Rearend Specialty for differential work. They installed my Land Rover front and rear final drive units done there: air locker in one unit and LSD in the other. Prices are reasonable and fast turnaround and top quality work. Anyone in South Bay looking for a shop to work on differentials and drive units… definitely give them a call.

I chose Rearend Specialties based on their excellent reviews, and from the first phone call, I understood why they’re so highly rated. The team was patient, knowledgeable, and genuinely kind. I brought in my 2017 Tacoma for a 4.88 gear install along with front and rear Eaton e-lockers. I supplied all the parts, and they handled the install. We agreed on a four-day window to allow for flexibility, but they finished the job in just two and a half days. I followed their break-in procedure, and the truck has been running flawlessly ever since. Their pricing was significantly more reasonable than other quotes I received in the East Bay, and the quality of work exceeded expectations. Having built 10 axles myself in the past, I appreciated their attention to detail, technical expertise, and professionalism throughout the process. I can’t recommend these guys enough. Thank you!!

Honestly, better outcome than I ever expected. Small business ran by someone who lives and breathes what he does. Front and rear axle work was done on my Jeep. Solid work and price with labor and parts guarantee.

Rearend Specialties is a great shop run by honest and kind people. I had my GM 8.2 10 bolt rebuilt about two years back. They were very communicative, met their deadlines, and informed me when they found issues (bent axle shafts). I sourced parts myself, and the team was happy to accommodate my requests. The axle has performed nearly 20,000 miles without issue, but I did notice a bit of a whine developing on deceleration recently. I brought it back in for a check-up, and Mike was able to get it lifted up, re-torque my pinion nut, and ensure the proper pre-load while I waited. He did a quick inspection to ensure the axle was still in good shape, and sent me on my way without a bill. There's nothing better than a communicative shop that stands by their work, and I thanks the guys at RES for taking care of me!

My 2007 RAM 2500 with the 5.9L Cummins and 11.50 rear end had been seeping for years from the pinion seal. Then the seep became a leak. I went to one Dodge dealer and they said they wouldn't take it on. Another said to bring it by, but I had a feeling it was going to be a mega thousand dollar bill. I have maintenance done by Spiteri's in Belmont. While I was having my fluids replaced, I asked if they did diff fixes. They pointed me to Rearend Specialties. It's where they send their customers (or differentials if Spiteri's is doing a turnkey job). A quick check of online reviews found a number of favorable opinions. I drove down into the bowels of Santa Clara (Silicon Valley from the 1970s!), got a good vibe, came home to contemplate, called and made an appt. I ended up riding my bike 30 miles home on a rather chilly morning. I couldn't subject my wife to that much commute traffic. Too expensive to Uber. Rearend Specialties in Santa Clara: Three guys (at least) that I met... Adam (owner), Ricky and Zach. Professional, thoughtful guys that spoke perfect English. (After writing my review, I read some other reviews. "Kind" was a common descriptor and I'm editing my review to add my agreement. I was pretty nervous since this is my daily driver and everyone was... kind. Answered questions fully. Just inspired confidence without a hint of arrogance or impatience.) A modest but clean warehouse with a very well stocked and organized rebuilding area. Zach replaced my pinion seal and what I think is called a slinger ring (the material the inner seal surface bears on) since he said it was grooved, installed a new pinion nut and pinned it for security. He also said my 11.50 gears/axles were "like butter" so no bearing service needed... AND most happily I skated any potential damage from running a quart+ low on oil (when I didn't realize for too long that "seep" had become "leak"). Work was done same day. Dropped off 9:30a. Got a call a little after 3p. (My wife drove me this time!) Zach walked me through the repair using a demo rear-end they keep for that purpose. The price was super reasonable. A lot of the good price was they do this work all day every day for years. I wasn't paying for them to learn how to do the work. They give a one-year unlimited-miles warranty. When I got home, I gave the rear end of the truck a good degreasing and pressure wash and remounted the spare. Happy I don't have to smell burning differential oil, thrown up on the exhaust, every time I got out of the truck. And not leaking oil on the pavement everywhere I park is a revelation.

For my 24 Jeep Wrangler JL regear they came highly recommended. I live about an hour away but wanted to be sure it was quality work- it’s an investment for me. Zach helped me over the phone, had me snap pictures of axels and determined what I needed. I’m happy with the job done, and these folks were just really kind people, and were fair, and even found ways to save me money. Highly recommended RearEnd Specialties.
