I was on a road trip around the country and experienced car issues in Louisville. I found Rod's automotive and appreciated how kind Rod and his staff were before any work started. I explained my situation to Rod and he even gave me a discount. So far so good. Neither Rod nor any of his staff were able to diagnose the issue. The mechanics thought it was a transmission issue even though the issue (a noise) was happening while the car was sitting in neutral and not even in gear. My mechanic - in Connecticut - explained this over the phone to Rod's mechanic. I was able to SELF-DIAGNOSE the issue to be AC-related while continuing on the road trip. When it came time to pay Rod increased the price by $150+. When I told him about his originally quoted price and discount, he - in front of other customers - threatened to rip the parts out of the hood of my car.

He has decent prices and very good qualified mechanics that treat every customer like family. Being a female I have never liked taking my car to a mechanic. I feel like I should just open up my checkbook and say here....make it out for whatever you need to fix my car. Not with Rods Automotive Services! I told them the problem and they fixed my car for a reasonable price, and since I was on my way to work, they had it done quickly. I was in awe! I called my mother and told her I finally found a mechanic shop for my car! Rod's is where I plan on taking my car if I have a problem in the future. Honest mechanics and good prices! Thanks guys!

I went to this shop because I try to support local businesses. I asked to have my oil changed, spark plugs changed, and to see about how much it would cost to fix my AC and rear brakes. I understand the $50 labor cost for seeing about my AC, but $70 to change my oil? Didn't change my spark plugs like I asked. Claimed to have "looked at them," but not what I asked them to do. My plugs have over 150,000 miles on them, and I know they need to be changed. Quoted me $2,000 to fix my AC and $450 to change my rear brakes. The mechanic here saw a young female and seized the opportunity to take advantage. I left with oil that wasn't even the correct viscosity for my car (it takes 5W-20 and I noted that the sticker says 5W-30 that they stuck in my windshield) and $120 poorer. Called my mechanic back in my hometown, which is about 2 hours away, to see if they would take a look at my car. Parts to have my rear brakes changed and the AC to be fixed came out to be $150. I got the same work done for a fraction of the price that this shop tried to charge me. TL;DR - Take your business elsewhere because they will price gouge you, especially if you are a woman.

This guy is the best hearted, most kind man I've ever met. I have a car with a bad engine, but the last mechanic tore it to hell, and left my engine in shambles, stole my battery, and just left it in pieces. This man took my car and not only pieced it back together, but put a brand spanking new battery in it so I could get it going to at least know what was wrong and sale it if I wanted. HE would have done my engine replacement, but my car wasn't worth the labor, unfortunately. I will NEVER EVER EVER go to another mechanic. This is an honest, good hearted wonderful and amazing man. This is why his business is still open this long and why he's been blessed this many years. Thanks, Rods, for being honest, professional, and quite simply a God send.

Recently found this gem of an mechanic. Honest, trustworthy and needless to say I’ve found my go to guy. Had been quoted $300 for the purge valve to be replaced in my ford focus and I got to Rod’s and the price was actually $280. I couldn’t have been more pleased! Thank you Rod!!!

I called several times trying to schedule an appointment for car repair. Twice someone answered and would not speak, once it went to a fax and the last time my call went to a voicemail that wouldn't accept messages. Not sure how you schedule an appointment with them.
