I was looking for the cheapest place to get a smog check in the Arden area. This place wasn’t the cheapest, but they price match and include a complementary multi point inspection. (This multi point inspection revealed a problem I had from recent work that my other mechanic did a month ago. I called him back and was able to have it taken care of under warranty. So I’m thankful this complementary multipoint inspection was included). Other than that, You can tell that they put effort into keeping the place really clean and aesthetic. And they had complementary snacks and drinks. Also, If you decide to leave, you can watch a live stream video of their garage camera (Through a link that they sent you through text). Overall, the price match for the smog check service is what peaked my interest and the $40 “Artificial Intelligence Appointment Call Booking” discount is what got me in the door. I had an amazing experience here.

I scheduled a pre-purchase vehicle inspection at 12:30pm with instructions to return at 3:30pm. It wasn’t even on the lift yet when I arrived at 3:30pm. They finished at 4pm, their closing time— also the same time I was supposed to have it back to the dealer. Ugh. I paid $220 (highest rate I’ve paid— most run $150-$200) for a comprehensive inspection. It had a clean Carfax with a perfect service history & no accidents. I knew I would overpay with a reputable, licensed dealer but wanted to avoid the potential nightmare of a shady private seller. My car is stick so I had to find a friend who could drive it back when I bought the car. While I was inside paying, the mechanic told her that it was a “good car” and that he “checks for every, little thing”. I didn’t feel too confident with the receptionist’s knowledge because I mistakenly asked about the CVT (confusing it with another vehicle I had looked at) and she didn’t know that this vehicle doesn’t have a CVT. I almost scheduled an appointment to have the CVT inspected the next day and booked a hotel room. She also told me that Carfax stops reporting maintenance after 120k miles, which is nonsense. After I paid, I wanted to ask the mechanic a couple of questions about what he found but he was gone and the shop was closed. The dealer offered to fix all of the defects found except for one, insisting that it wasn’t as big of an issue as the inspection made it seem. I was happy to have the inspection and a dealer willing to fix everything but was unable to make a decision because I had literally paid for the inspection thinking it would include a consultation of some sort or explanation of the problems. I had a friend drive me 2.5 hours for the purchase and paid the dealer a $200 deposit to take the car in for me and offered to Uber him back. He refunded my deposit in full, telling me he got a ride to the shop (which was 20 mins away). He didn’t even keep the $40 I offered him for time and gas, which leads me to believe that he was an honest seller and wasn’t misleading me about the repairs. I called the next day asking to speak to the mechanic and was told that the receptionist would call me back. When I asked to speak to the mechanic instead, I was told that the receptionist has 20 years of experience but not that she was a mechanic. I insisted on speaking to the mechanic and was told she’d make a note of it but I never received a call back. I literally paid $220 to have my vehicle inspected by a mechanic but wasn’t able to ask the mechanic any questions about the results, as if I can easily interpret them. I spoke to someone else, who told me it would have been fine for me to buy without replacing the suspension because I don’t drive often or far and just need something to last me for the next 1-2 years. I ended up passing on it but I wish I had chosen another day/shop so I would have had time to make a decision that I felt comfortable with.

Top notch. Knowledgeable and friendly staff. Really streamlined and modern. Photos and videos of my car. They let me know things to monitor and most importantly what needed immediate attention. Guided me what I should fix first and what could wait until my next paycheck. This is honesty. And transparency. I'll certainly come back. Highly recommend.

Stress free auto was the best auto shop I’ve ever been to. From the moment I called I was able to get approved approved for a loan to help pay for any problems I had. And when I dropped the car off Alex was really nice and helpful. I was able to get more than my breaks fixed because of the loan and plus I love how the diagnostic sends you information about everything that’s wrong with your car. I went in for breaks but after I received my report I got to find out everything that was wrong with my car so I was able to get a head start and fix slot more than the breaks. As a disabled veteran and woman people take huge advantage of me and I’ve been scammed at auto shops but this was the only shop where I felt safe and actually could trust that the shop had my back. Thank you to Alex and the mechanic who fixed my car and saved me a lot of money. I got parts that were way more affordable here than anywhere else. Fork the clean facility to the awesome customer service I really thank stress auto for being in Sacramento. Wish I knew about you guys a lot sooner!! I will definitely recommend this place to other friends, family, and coworkers.

Staff was friendly and courteous and they were able to get me in and out fairly quickly. I appreciated the digital communication and photos. I do wish they were accompanied by a phone call to answer questions about their findings for better understanding and clarification. That said, I feel they are trustworthy and will continue to use their services.

I needed to have a per-purchase inspection done on a used vehicle. I called to make an appointment and was able to get everything done by phone. When the service was done, they sent me a text and email with all the details. They were very proactive and the report was detailed and covered things I hadn't even considered. A great service at a great price. Thanks guys and gals!

I was hopeful for a clear diagnosis on my car’s issue, but unfortunately, it didn’t turn out that way. I was told the service would pinpoint exactly what was wrong, but they were unable to fully identify the problem. The overall cost felt far higher than expected, and the quoted repairs ended up approaching the value of the car itself. Additionally, a promised Lyft credit was not mentioned to me, even though I observed it being explained to other customers. When I later inquired about reimbursement, the receptionist declined my request. That part of the experience felt inconsistent and disappointing. The approach of charging a significant amount just to establish a starting point felt like a money pit rather than a clear solution. I typically avoid dealership-style experiences for this reason, and unfortunately this visit reinforced that decision. I will not be returning.

Honestly they were very helpful for my first time being there. The fact that they dont hide discounts is honestly something so big especially for someone who doesn't have a lot of money like that helps a lot. They told me how the process will work because I needed them to look into my car and do a diagnostic to see if my car needs anything extra fixed and after the diagnostic they give me like tips of what's top priority and what can wait so I can get that fixed another time like that helps a lot, it just keeps me well informed especially since I dont know anything about cars. The only downside was that I was told that I was going to have to wait for a couple hours but I never got a call before the shop closed to tell me that they needed to wait on a part and that it wasnt gonna get fixed until the next day. If I was someone who really needed my car that day, a heads up would've been nice, the good thing was that I didn't. So the next day I called and then I was told that they were waiting for a part to come in that day and they were gonna fix it immediately, and that they texted me the day before but it probably didnt go through, which I understand but if I hadn't responded, a call before that shop closed would've been nice. I got my car that day and everything was fairly smooth. I also loved that they didnt immediately start repairing stuff. I know other places, some mechanics would start working on things you didn't agree on so then you get charged for something you didn't ask for but this place didn't. They send you paperwork on the stuff you agreed on getting fixed and to sign it so they can fix that right away with no hidden charges. Overall, everything was excellent.

First time here and immediately felt comfortable. The ambiance of this place is amazing, feels like home with is comfy couches/ dark purple painted walls/ a fireplace and snacks with coffee. Naomi, the representative was awesome! So funny, so understanding, she really goes above & beyond in customer service & care. She is the reason I continue to go to Stress-Free Auto Care. I truly appreciate the service here such as texting/emailing me updates on the service of my vehicle as well as picking & choosing which auto service to address in regard to my own financial budgeting. Then she'll contact me later to address the other issues found. It helps me budget on which issues to get done now and later. Its everything and more I needed from an auto shop. Highly Recommend everyone to come here if you want to feel stress-free. Thank you, Naomi, & everyone at Stress-Free Auto Care :)

Only good thing I can say about this place is the cheap and thorough inspection service. Besides that, everything else is completely outrageous! I was told that replacing all rotors, brake pads, and one caliper was going to cost me over $3000. That's pricing for engine work guys! There's no way! First of all, you guys should make it possible for customers to bring their own parts if your parts are going to cost 10 times the price or more than Auto Zone parts. Second, why would you call yourselves "Stress Free" when your prices are out of this world? SUPER misleading. Luxe Auto offered like $550 for the same job, AND, I can buy my own parts. Only reason I'd visit again is for an inspection. THAT'S IT!

After Stressful replaced my pan gasket for an oil leak on my 2002 Ford F150 my car lost it's oil over the next 2 months and stalled with a red oil light. I have had many repairs on multiple vehicles done at this shop and spent thousands. Now suddenly my motor is not only still leaking oil but according to them the rear seal and valve guides are also leaking and blue smoke is now coming out the exhaust. They had changed the oil to a full synthetic on an older motor. Known issues for doing so and not a good practice on an older engine. I intend to contact BAR and my lawyer to get a remedy but I can't STRESS enough to avoid these idiots like the plague. Thank you for frying my motor by you shoddy workmanship

I stopped by Stress Free Auto for a quote and was immediately impressed. Naomi at the front desk was friendly, knowledgeable, and very helpful. After speaking with her, I decided to book an appointment and they were able to get my car in the very next day. A dealership had previously quoted me a much higher price and told me they would need to keep my car for 2–3 days. My car was leaking oil and needed an engine crankshaft seal replacement. I was honestly shocked that Stress Free Auto fixed it within just a few hours and I saved money too. I really appreciated the transparency: they sent me a detailed inspection video, completed the repairs efficiently, and even allowed me to tap into the garage cameras to watch my vehicle being worked on. That level of trust and communication is hard to find. I’ll definitely be coming back in the future and recommending them to others. Thank you, Naomi, and the entire Stress Free Auto team!

Review is for service on 1/13/25. I was having issues with a strong exhaust smell in the cab of my 2013 Chevy Equinox, and was in search for a trustworthy mechanic to take a look and hopefully repair any problems before an upcoming SoCal roadtrip that I was taking with my family. I used Yelp to put a blanket request for the Sacramento area, and Stress Free Auto reached out right away! I was able to take my car in first thing the next morning and was greeted in such a friendly and warm way. Knowing they had a few jobs ahead of me, they called a niiiice Lyft and made sure I got home free of charge! From there the communication was excellent. There were continual texts that provided information about their progress not only with searching for the main problem, but also a general overall inspection of my vehicle. Once complete they sent me an estimate, I called to coordinate which things I wanted repaired/addressed, and they sent over a finalized quote that I signed immediately. It was quick, informative, and quite literally stress free The main problem was a cracked exhaust manifold. Seems like an extensive repair, right? Well, they let me know later that afternoon that they were done! Amazing same day service! Absolutely incredible. It’s been a month since the repair and I haven’t had any issues. So, in my book, that’s a job well done! The only small gripe I have is the cost. Again, it was same day service, so it’s understandable that I might have paid more than I would have at another local shop, but they did offer a discount on the initial inspection cost. Some other shops roll the inspection cost into the cost of repairs, but unfortunately Stress Free doesn’t do that. Plus, a couple of suggested repairs were somewhat of a laughable cost. If memory serves, they quoted me around $60 to replace wipers. I’m not sure if it was a quote for all 3, or just one, but I spent $15 on a wiper on the way home and installed it myself. Whatever, they are trying to make money! Despite my small price gripe, I will be using Stress Free in the future for any vehicle concerns I have!

Thank you for the service I received recently when I had requested an inspection from you on a used vehicle that I was concerning to purchase. Your expertise and knowledge on vehicle diagnosing and safety inspections was very thorough. With your help and experience the purchasing of a used vehicle was now less stressful and made the selection of the vehicle much easier.

I came in just for an oil change and ended up being genuinely impressed. As a girl who doesn’t know much about cars, I’m usually skeptical of auto shops. However, the customer service here was amazing!!!! They communicated clearly, were friendly and welcoming, and took the time to explain the full inspection without pressuring me into making any purchases right then & there. Everything was explained in a way that was easy to understand, with priorities clearly outlined and pricing provided up front — I LOVED THAT! What really stood out was the transparency. They didn’t just tell me what was going on with my car, they provided pictures to go along with everything. That alone speaks to the integrity of the shop. Listen, I don’t leave reviews often, but if you’re someone who doesn’t know much about cars and just want some honest, straightforward service, this is definitely a great place to start. Five stars, well deserved. Thank you.
