I hired this company to replace my tensioner pulley and belt on May 18. Shane showed up with one of his “techs” who he left on my property to fix my vehicle without a way to leave when finished. The entire interaction seemed shady but I attempted to be kind even though they did not give off professionalism at all. Within a day, my car started squealing as if something was off, and I followed up with Shane, who asked me to meet him in a motel parking lot on the beach even though I had offered to meet at Publix. I called my boyfriend and he told me this seems off and weird, so I called Shane, who identified himself as the owner.. this will be important later, and told him I would be more comfortable meeting at a more public location so we met at a gas station. Upon hearing the squealing, he brushed it off as normal because of the “engineering” of my vehicle. He did attempt to be “helpful” and offered to fix a few other things on my vehicle but I felt like he was trying to flirt with me. At that point I just wanted to leave and my boyfriend was at work. I’d also like to point out that I literally shared my location to my boyfriend AND my mother during this meeting (AND I have receipts on that) because I didn’t feel good about being alone with him. This will also be important later. Less than six weeks later, the belt snapped completely while I was driving. When I reached back out, I was met with a defensive and unprofessional response accusing me of trying to get “free work,” even though I had reached out about the issue immediately after the initial repair. Instead of taking accountability or honoring any kind of workmanship guarantee, I was met with personal comments and gaslighting… this was my exact text to him: “Hi Shane, You and your tech John replaced my tensioner pulley and belt on May 18. I reached out shortly after because it was already squealing, and you mentioned it might’ve been due to the AC tube drip” Unfortunately, the squealing got worse, and today the belt snapped while I was driving home from taking my daughter to work. This shouldn’t be happening again so soon after a repair. I really need your help getting this taken care of — my daughter was able to find a ride home tonight, but I’m stuck without a working vehicle and need this fixed ASAP. Can you let me know what the next steps are? I’d really appreciate you standing by your work on this.” His first response was EXACTLY THIS: “I stand by MY. Work yes if you thinking g your gonna get something completely free.. your wrong... BUT I will definitely come help you.. bc that's what we do... where are you currently located” I was put off my this, so I responded: “ No, we’re not going to do that. To say you “stand by your work” and then immediately follow it up with “you’re not getting something completely free” is 1) wrong — because I did call you out when the issue happened right after the repair, and 2) completely unprofessional and rude. I expected you to take this seriously, not respond with attitude when I brought you a valid concern about a job you supposedly fixed barely a month ago. I’ll make sure I leave that google review” In fact, I’ll just post the text messages. The work was clearly faulty on the pulley THEY replaced, he has previously identified himself as the owner but in this particular text says “he’ll bring his boss” and the communication was beyond unprofessional. At that point I felt threatened and unsafe. After this unprovoked display of instability I looked him up and I see that he has also been arrested for multiple charges. There are plenty of other mobile mechanics in town.. don’t risk it. I do not recommend this company AT ALL.
